Aug weekend (not long weekend), place only had choice of 2 rooms since we waited so long. ~$400/night. Booked Comfort Family room (Temple). Place is easy to find via google Maps. Can park right in front to unload and then there are exactly enough parking spots for each room to have 1 spot. Parking pass given upon check-in. Late check-in (after 10PM) available. Room looks dated but bed was fine. 2 single beds upstairs, 1 queen bed downstairs. TV has Netflix. Shower does not drain. Sink was chipped. Lots of tables, chairs, a desk in the room. Fan in room, A/C was there but with a crank window no way to attach it to the window/prevent hot air entering. Rooftop hot tup was 10/10 great - first come first serve. Opens at 9AM and with checkout at 11AM was able to get 1 more dip in before we checked out. Service was poor. Staff never asked how we were, how the stay was. Breakfast service was short and after she delivered the food never ever came back. She got my order wrong, but since she never came back I didn't have the chance to ask for a correction. Saturday - chai pudding appetizer and then sunny side up egg on 1/2 bagel with cream cheese, fresh spinach, fresh tomato, covered in hollandaise sauce. Sunday was egg bite appetizer with French toast with berry compote. Food itself was decent just wish the service was more welcoming, took order correctly, and easier to make substitutions. Coffee was super weak, orange juice was super weak and tasteless. Variety of hot teas was excellent. No fresh fruit available. Would loved a banana to just be offered or available. Was hoping for a more warming feeling, maybe fresh muffins/cookies, fresh made bread, better service. For the price I'd rather stay a hotel where the attendant actually asks how the stay was and how the guests are doing.

And staying there is no different. We chose to stay in Canmore which is about 20 minutes away from Banff, still very pretty and more affordable. This bed and breakfast offered the cutest home made breakfast every morning and they did have vegetarian options! The food may look plain from the pics but everything we ate was good and just felt very comforting and homey. I enjoyed my stay here, I loved that it seemed like it was family owned and I would definitely recommend others to stay here too!

Pros - Very quiet location and a short walk from downtown…read more - Unique interior with a strange electric "fireplace" that provides interesting light at night. - Soaking Tub is great for long hot baths. - Very comfy mattress for nice, quiet night of sleep - Laura was very kind and gave us a great tour on arrival. - Lee was also very kind and engaged in conversation whenever we saw him. - Great location for viewing wildlife on the path into town. Suggestions - We stayed in the "Coach House". It would be nice if there was an electric coffee and hot water maker in the rooms. Getting tea and coffee from the main building and taking it across the parking lot to your room is tough, especially in the snow and ice. - They need to put some kind of holders for soap, shampoo and conditioner in the showers. - The channel guide on the TV needs to be edited to remove the channels not available. it takes forever to go through the guide. If you want a quiet, unique experience without the hustle and bustle of a hotel, this is the place for you.

Upon arrive at the house, there is a spot to pull up at and check-in. The staff gives you a nice tour. There is a good selection of local teas, coffees, hot chocolate, utensils, etc available to you 24/7. Breakfast is served 8:00-9:30. Due to the limited hours we missed it our first day because we had to head out early to the ice field parkway. We booked the king deluxe, which was located in the carriage house. It had a beautiful extra large soaking tub, radiant heated shower floor, bar sink, mini fridge, sun window, screened patio, and faux fireplace. I had a wonderful spa like soak every evening. Perfect after a cold and rainy day exploring Banff. There are also plenty of books, games, and puzzles available in the main house.

I've been saving the Buffaloberry Bed and Breakfast for review #500…read more The B&B is named after a native plant that grows throughout the Canadian Rockies. The Buffaloberry's berries are not only favorite treats of the birds and bears, but were also used by the Plains Indians to flavor buffalo meat. A more appropriate (and cuter) name couldn't have been found for James and Theresa's property, as you will learn about their passion for wildlife, native plants, and culinary endeavors while staying with them. The personable James and Theresa are true professionals, skilled in the art of hospitality and home-building. They designed and built The Buffaloberry Bed and Breakfast from the ground up to be a gorgeous home with a purpose: the purpose of treating guests to the best B&B experience ever. Four bedrooms (two on each floor) are located near the entrance of the property. The living space with comfortable couches, a fireplace, bar area and outdoor patio, is shared with everyone. The breakfast table is shared, as well, which is separated from the kitchen by a sliding door. You can just imagine what wondrous creations are being made behind that door while you sit and enjoy your coffee or tea, yogurt, fruit salad, homemade granola and muffins before the hot portion of the meal is served. Theresa's recipes are tested and experimented with several times until she feels she has everything just right. And she definitely has everything just right! From whole soft-cooked eggs in Canadian bacon pockets to souffle-like Camembert scrambled eggs with onions and chicken apple sausage to buckwheat blueberry pancakes to croissant French toast...we were in B&B heaven. We were provided with excellent suggestions for our explorations around Banff, including hikes of varying levels of difficulty and sites of historical interest. The property was perfectly located just a few blocks from the main part of town with a Safeway along the way. No review of a B&B would be complete without comments about the rooms themselves. At The Buffaloberry, every detail has been thought of and taken care of for you. Each room has a private bathroom (two have shower stalls and two have showers over tubs) with plenty of towels and travel-sized soap/shampoo. The queen-sized beds are very comfortable and covered with high quality linens and super warm yet lightweight duvets. There are small TVs over a desk, and the two rooms facing the front of the property have additional windows from which you can see some of the mountains of Banff. The entire B&B is tastefully and warmly decorated; the beautiful Canadian pine and special flooring offer a very comfortable yet elegant style that we definitely enjoyed. I highly recommend that you stay at The Buffaloberry while in Banff. You can thank me after you get back home and are missing Theresa and James and their delicious breakfasts!

Whether its soaking in the hot tub in your room, sitting on your balcony with mountain views or relaxing in the common areas this place has what you need to relax after a long day of hiking. We thought the bed and pillows were comfortable, although the mattress was more firm than what I prefer. Our room was serviced everyday by non-intrusive and very friendly staff. There are small bags of ice and refreshments on hand with the honor system in place when it comes to checking out, which we thought was nice. Thankfully there is a small air conditioner and ceiling fan in the room because it did get hot the days we were there. You can tell a lot of love has gone into building this place and making it into such a gem. I would definitely come back and highly recommend for anyone wanting to stay near Banff or in Canmore! Our bedroom and en suite bath looked out on a lush garden which was just starting to fade with the fall weather. There was a large jetted tub for relaxing and a separate shower in the bath. A small television with cable was in the room and free wifi was provided as well as a refrigerator and a coffee maker. Each morning we only had to go upstairs to a beautiful delicious breakfast and had our choice of homemade breakfast items (eggs, meats, etc), fresh baked bread, French toast, fruit, juice, and coffee. Absolutely delicious and a beautiful view of the mountains from the breakfast table. Carmelo and Anneke were very accommodating and let us use their phone to make local calls, gave us their bear spray to borrow while we were out in the parks (just in case), loaned us a detailed map, and told us all the best drives and and places which fit our travel goals. They had lots of detailed information to give to their guests and know the area very well as they have lived there many years. This was the perfect place for people going to the Banff area because it is minutes from the park gates. I would return to this little bit of paradise in a second.

The house itself is a celebration of Canada and the beautiful wood and flowers that are found there. The breakfast is unexpectedly gourmet - they smoke the salmon in house and pick local mushrooms for omelets.
