Caltrain Station - Sunnyvale

Caltrain Station - Sunnyvale

Basically your standard Caltrains station. Efficient service, open spaced, limited guardrails / etc., ample parking, few amenities (no F&B), limited bathroom options, and generally gets the job done when you want to go from point A to point B. So not much (except ample parking) if you are expecting to grab a bite, etc. (although plenty of options in the neighborhood). Also, like many places in the U.S. the station may seem relatively understaffed. Other than that, trains themselves are often much more spacious, roomy, and sometimes just plain empty compared to elsewhere in the world.

I'm more of a BART person since I live closer to one but sometimes take Caltrain when I go to…read moreOracle Park since it's closer. Thought I would share some tips for someone who doesn't ride frequently. 1.) Clipper If you use a Clipper Card, when you tag in, it will charge you the FULL AMOUNT first. Once you tag out, it will "refund" you the difference. Example: Origin Station (Tag in) = San Francisco = Charge $14.70 Destination Station (Tag Out) = Sunnyvale = Refund $6.75 Total = $7.95 I was really confused by this at first since this is not how BART works where there is no charge at first and a charge after you exit. I definitely messed this up and even had to call Clipper customer service to help me fix one of my rides. 2.) Parking I thought there was ample parking at the station when I went but other reviews says it's difficult. I didn't have any issues here. 3.) Cleanliness For some reason this station was pretty dirty. There were homeless remnants (beds, alcohol, clothes) all over the elevators and trashcans that it felt kind of unsafe. However, when you get to the tracks with the other riders, it was much better. 4.) No Shade This station has like zero shade. You might find some minimal shade in places but it's virtually zero. Wear a hat, sunscreen, or even use an umbrella to block out the sun or rain if its raining.

FREE PARKING whaaaaat?…read more I was told by the awesome security staff from Levi's Stadium during my company's tech conference that parking here is FREE!! I am not sure if there is a fee during a game or a concert, but during the week when there are conventions at Levi's Stadium and private corporate parties, parking here is FREE. Best of all, there are 49 EV (electric vehicle) parking both the lower level and the main level of this garage. Charging is provided by Chargepoint with a "Level 2" charging. You will need to download their APP or have their card to activate the charge. It's pretty reasonable as I paid only $2.20 for a two hour charge. NOTE: there is no entrance off on Tasman. You will need to enter throughthe Yellow Lot 1 and Lot 2. Then head straight to the entrance. You will also need to go one level up if you want to park at the main level. This parking garage is also shared by the Santa Clara Convention Center and The Hyatt Regency. Cheers!

Convenient and FREE!* (Who doesn't like free parking?)…read more This very large parking structure is conveniently located next to the Santa Clara Convention Center, the Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club and now Levi's Stadium. The parking is free EXCEPT during 49ers games and other major Levi's Stadium events when it becomes know (in Levi's Stadium jargon) as Yellow Lot 1. Santa Clara Parking Garage = free parking Yellow Lot 1 = paid (usually very expensive) parking But for non-game days, it's a convenient place to park if your going to the golf course, David's Restaurant or across the street to the 49ers Team Store, 49ers Museum or Bourbon Steak and Pub restaurant, all located at Levi's Stadium. *Parking isn't free (unfortunately) during 49ers games or other major Levi's Stadium events.
