The first day it was a cheese quiche with some fresh fruit; the second day was French toast served with some sliced fresh fruit. Plenty of fuel until lunch. The historic "colonial revival" home was built in 1905 and it was a delight to stay here. This inn is the only Bed & Breakfast on Washington's central coast area. Nice to see that the inn survived the pandemic.

We live in Las Vegas and we were visiting Aberdeen for a funeral. This is the town my husband grew up in and he hadn't been back in over 20 years. We could not find Hotels in the area, only motels. I was pleasantly surprised to have found this B&B and quickly booked the Canterbury room. It was clean, cozy and spacious. The bathroom was large and it had a lot of counter space for makeup and toiletries. The Aberdeen weather in March is pretty cold, but it was nice to return to a nice cozy and warm room in the evenings after spending the day with family. Breakfast was amazing! Billy, Cindy's son, is a great cook and very hospitable just like her. I returned to Las Vegas and missed eating my breakfasts overlooking the harbor and the beautiful Broadway Hill neighborhood. We also enjoyed great conversations a couple of days with a Doctor whom we met there. It was a great visit/vacation to my husband's hometown. Thank you Cindy and Billy for your hospitality! I highly recommend A Harbor View Inn.

This place is pure magic. The magic is not produced by a wand, but by people--good people. Okay,…read moreand ponies and puppies. But mostly by people. There was some brief confusion when I booked the reservation. I had not realized it was a "horse hotel" with multiple stalls and also campsites as well as rooms. My disappointment was replaced by pure joy upon learning that humans can stay here too, as well as hybridized beings like myself (a centaur)! Everything here is done the old fashioned way, the right way: with kindness, trust, love and simplicity. Staying here will make your heart ache for a simpler time when folks were able to conduct business with a handshake, where their first priority was just treating each other how they want to be treated themselves, with dignity and decency. We came here almost my accident. I'll be honest. Ocean Acres was not in my first, second--or even top five--picks of places to go. We were aiming at much further up the coast. I could find almost nothing and what I could find was neither affordable nor desirable. We did not want to go to some sterile resort where you exist to be milked and sent on your way. We wanted to be in a place that was family-owned and served a purpose beyond just making money as efficiently as possible. We wanted to be somewhere that had actual personality, not just a hollow façade with a minimal, lazy attempt to lure visitors and nothing else. Ocean Acres Horse Hotel was--is--the jackpot on all accounts. Because of a recent death of a family member after a prolonged illness, it was important to be in a place with healing energy. I had a good feeling the moment I navigated my way to Ocean Acres' minimalist website and saw they have no automated process for automated or online bookings. Everything is done personally, over the phone. The owner, Carol did not even ask for my last name, the make of my vehicle or a credit card to reserve the room. She asked us to pay in cash when we arrived. When we did arrive, the first thing I did was try to pay, but she insisted we wait until morning to do so! She wanted us to be able to settle in, relax, and get a good night's sleep first. WHAT?! My thought was: who the hell are you and what time period do you hail from? Where is your time machine? Such a small gesture, but to be endowed with that level of trust by a stranger doing business with me...I cannot think of another time in my 46 years that that's happened. Again, you may think I am making too much of it, but being shown such trust and kindness so quickly had an immediate healing effect on us. It is impossible to discuss Ocean Acres without talking about Carol and her husband, the owners. I don't know how they do it. I could barely keep up with all the adventures they shared with us. Carol is a polymath of the first rank. Her amazing breakfasts held us in good stead the entire time we were there. We ate with the other guests--sometimes sharing a table--in their family dining room! Whilst cooking up innovative and astounding savory and sweet detectibles, Carol regaled us with stories about her life, her work, her relationship to horses, the wheeling and dealing required to get hay. We were also surrounded by her work--stunning oil portraits and bronze sculpture, for which she had rightly won awards. Carol and her husband knew we were hurting, and they pulled out all the stops to help us. They lent us their own, personal ebikes (which were so much fun to take on country roads, tooling around cranberry bogs, little ponds and abandoned farmsteads), Her cooking was phenomenal. She knew we loved animals but had none of our own, so she introduced us to their collie dog Price, with whom we quickly became BFF's in a neverending game of fetch, told us what foods her mini-pony (or was it a mini-donkey?) likes to be fed. And of course, there were other people and their beautiful steeds all around. Just being in the presence of so many happy critters and people had a very good effect on us; it was so needed. The property begins at the highway, off which a short, paved driveway leads to and terminates behind the main house, where the owners live and some of the rooms are. Then, a dirt road goes straight back (west) about a mile--all the way to the sea--passing by a beautiful barn, stalls, campsites, forest, meadows, a pond and other bucolic scenes on the way. Strolling the road on the property (and biking on it) was one of my favorite things to do there. If you ever pined for things (and people) with a personal touch, if you ever just wanted to drop out of the game and NOT be treated like a number, a walking phat money bag with a dollar sign over your head, if you miss interacting like a regular human with other regular humans, if you ever needed some puppy time but had no puppy of your own, if you ever wanted to feel safe, breathe in serenity like it floated in the ethers, if you ever just wanted a really damn good breakfast...Ocean Acres is THE place for you.

Clean rooms, kind staff, and a pool with great hours. The hotel features lots of native art and information about the chehalis tribe which I loved. It has a sky bridge that connects to the casino, so you can go play or get food/drinks. This place is incredible and I can't wait for our next visit.

You could stay at another hotel for half the price and still get the same accommodations and service, plus some. The only thing that was really different from any other hotel, is that there is a slots gaming room in the lobby and a casino right next door. The staff was decent at check in, however, they gave us no information about anything the hotel had to offer. They gave us the directions to the elevator to get to our room and that was it. The food that was available next door was okay, but very greasy. The employees at both coffee shops within the hotel and casino, do not know how to make espresso drinks very well, if at all. The room was nice, spacious and clean. The bed was decent and they did give you two complimentary waters in the fridge. They also had an abundance of dogs on the premises. It did not seem as though they do a very good job separating the rooms that animals are allowed in vs. not allowed in. The air vent in the room made a very loud noise that was pretty annoying when trying to sleep. The hotel was overall I say 3 stars. There was good and bad. I wouldn't necessarily choose it at a place to go again, unless I had to go to the area.

Some things I think others looking up this place will find useful:…read more *Each unit has entrances on both sides of the building, one facing the bay and one facing the other side. So: no need to worry about getting stuck with a unit that does not face the bay. *There are only 18 units in the whole hotel, each of them the same size: one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room with an electric fireplace, and a kitchenette. We always seek out places with kitchens or kitchenettes so we can cook in our unit are won't have to eat out every meal. One slight word of caution, though: these kitchenettes have a microwave and a stove top but no oven; and the refrigerator is pretty small. *The living room couch is also a hideabed, so the rooms technically sleep four each. There is a TV in both the living room and the bedroom. *The view of the bay is NOT a view of a beach, but there are some very positive things about this. First, the nightly rates are reasonable regardless of the time of year. Second, beyond a grassy area in front of the motel are tide flats, which fill up with water twice every 24 hours, at high tide. It's really fun to see the change when you're paying attention. Beyond the tide flats is the man-made Shoalwater Bay Berm, created to save Tokeland from the long term effects of increasingly severe weather events. The tide flats area between the hotel and the berm, that gets filled with water, is called Empire Spit. Google the area's tides for the day(s) you are there and you will know when to look for when the tide flats fill with sea water, as it doesn't stay full for very long. *The hotel is owned by the Shoalwater Bay Tribe and is on their land, as is the Shoalwater Bay Casino (the smallest casino I have ever been in). If you get a Players Club Card from the casino, which you do not have to do any gambling in the casino to get, you can use it to get 10% off your hotel booking. *The hotel has an outdoor pool that is heated, and a hot tub that is protected from the elements by a clear dome. There were no storms the two nights we stayed there, but I bet it would be fun to watch one from that hot tub. There is also a communal kitchen space for larger parties that can be booked for an extra fee. *I have seen other reviews complain about the lack of regular housekeeping, but this was not a big deal to us. And if you need fresh linens or toiletries, all you have to do is ask and the incredibly friendly staff will happily hook you up. In short, Tradewinds on the Bay is a modest place to stay that is also quite the hidden gem. (Video tour of the hotel and our unit that I tried to upload got cut off at 12 seconds, so you can view the whole video here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/machu_picchu/53932930625/in/album-72177720319641764.)
