The Fish House - Green Sauce

A friend of mine, who has a severe dairy allergy, clearly and calmly told the woman at the counter "no cheese." Not a preference--an allergy. When the sandwich came out covered in cheese, she politely explained the issue. Instead of correcting it, the staff questioned her repeatedly--asking over a dozen times if she was sure she said no cheese--and threatened to make her pay again if it was her mistake. Eventually, the manager agreed to remake the sandwich. But when it was brought back, the woman slammed it on the table and said, "Here's your sandwich. Don't ever come back, n**r." I was stunned. All we wanted was a meal made safely--something that wouldn't send my friend to the ER--and instead we were met with open hostility and a violent racial slur. This wasn't just poor customer service. It was aggressive, discriminatory, and outright dangerous. No one should be treated this way. I'll never return, and I strongly urge others to consider whether this is the kind of business they want to support.

**BEST MEAL EVER**…read more AMBIANCE (4/5): It was a nice sunny day and they had plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the sun and people watch (although there weren't many people walking by). SERVICE (4/5): There weren't many tables, but service was good. We weren't in a rush and taking our time, so it was the perfect pace for us. FOOD (5/5): EVERYTHING WAS A 10/10! $4 EACH PER OYSTER: we tried the signature, honeysuckle, and top shell. They were all delicious and served with a vinegar, kimchee slaw, and cocktail sauce. All of them were so refreshing and great as an appetizer! $23 TUNA CARPACCIO: fresh, lemon sauce & crunchy tobiko eggs. The presentation is immaculate! $22 BLUE CRAB SLIDER: the homemade chips it comes with is AMAZING! Love any homemade chips. Served on a sweet Hawaiian roll, it's beautifully plated and blue crab is better than lobster in my opinion! $15 HOUSE MADE CHOWDER: can't go wrong with chowder! $36 HERB BAKED COD: so perfectly seasoned and cooked so it's soft but flaky. Comes à la carte. DRINKS (5/5): $19 PUMPKIN ESPRESSO MARTINI: this was a seasonal drink and it was SOOO GOOD! $20 BACON OLD FASHIONED: this was EVEN BETTER than the pumpkin martini! Candied bacon, and a perfectly crafted cocktail.

I went with a group of girlfriends on Tuesday night and we had a great evening. While my preference is to sit on the patio for lunch, the dining room is a wonderful vibe at dinner. I loved my pork chop that I ordered for my main course and also thoroughly enjoyed the steamed asparagus, roasted carrots and smoked tomato grits. Our waiter, Nash, was a standout and really facilitated a smooth dining experience. We ordered a few desserts to share but the clear winner was the carrot cake which was a knock out. We will be back for lunch this summer but are also thrilled to have this on our list for dinner.

The restaurant is in a super cute area with a beautiful view of the beach. We walked in without a reservation and were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. We ordered lobster and lobster rolls -- both were fresh and delicious. One of my friends didn't know how to crack open the whole lobster, and the kitchen staff kindly did it for her. That kind of thoughtful service really stood out. Overall, great food, chill vibe, and excellent service. Definitely worth the stop if you're biking or exploring the area!

We each decided to get a cocktail to go with our lunch. We got Shan-Fusion Mule, Ocean Berry Booze, and Mudslide. One thing to note: The bees were crazy about these maraschino cherries that comes with some of the drinks. If you are afraid of bees, ask the server for the drinks without the cherry, or remove it immediately and put it far away from you. For appetizer, we had Clam Chowder, a traditional New England chowder with lots of clams, creamy and comforting. For main, we all got lobster roll. They had the cold and warm version, and we got the cold one called Island's Best & Biggest Lobster Roll. And it sure was pretty big and with a mountain of lobster chunk meat! It was really tasty and super satisfying! The $34 price sounds expensive, but I think it was worth the price tag, as it was huge and you get so much lobster. We had a really nice lunch here. The drinks were nice, and the lobster roll was quite amazing.

I stumbled across Edgartown Seafood Market on a whim, not craving anything in particular. I asked the guy behind the counter, "What are you known for?" Without hesitation, he said, "The bluefish spread." Let me tell you -- it hit the spot. Flavorful, fresh, and just salty enough to keep you coming back for more. We paired it with Wheat Thins and chips, and it instantly became a staple for us. Since that first visit, we've added their cole slaw and seaweed salad to our regular order -- both are fresh, crisp, and perfectly balanced. This is one of those places that makes you want to eat and shop like a local. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. If you're on the island, this is a must-stop spot. Whether you're picking up seafood to cook or grabbing ready-made bites, they make you feel like you've discovered a Vineyard insider's gem. Verdict: Bluefish spread is the move. Stock up -- you'll regret not getting more.
