Verbs are on point! GATHER, PLAY, GROW, CREATE, MOVE, EXPLORE, DISCOVER, REFRESH! At ARC Park, these words greet you on a huge sign to encourage you and your young ones to get outside and commune with their senses! The parking area is nice and large with plenty of spots. There's an indoor building for all ages, children to seniors with programs for everyone and all abilities. I love that it's a gated park for safety. There are several play areas with playground equipment, swings, slides, bridges, climbing walls etc. Kids can really exercise and expend their energy here. There's a tree house for them to explore (and wheelchair accessible) and a garden area to discover growing flowers, butterflies and nature. There's also a music area where they can let their imagination flow! A water wheel shows them the movement of water and speaking of water, the strategically placed water misters will keep you cool all day! What a smart idea! Then there's a large covered picnic area to gather and refresh with a snack or two! I loved it here! Now for some adjectives: this park is immaculate, well-designed, beautiful and creative! Kids of all ages, adults and wee ones will love visiting this park for a day of play or a welcome respite from work! This park is a asset to the community and one that RVA should be proud of! Now, let's go have some fun!

Great new park for kids. This is one of the bigger playgrounds I have found in the area. It has everything from swings slides a tree house etc. There are public bathrooms picnic tables shaded areas. And it has these misting towers to cool you off in the heat. it is located at the Richmond ARC building. The building is closed to the public. But the park is open to all. It is handicap accessible.

I love this park. It's huge with so many interactive things to do regardless of age. From secret tunnels to water tables to slides to instruments to swings, your little will find something they love.

An amazing park for kids. It was designed to be accessible and help children that may be deaf or blind to interact with the space. There is a sensory wall, and different parts of play ground has area that engage your senses like the water area to xylophones. My daughter loves the long ramps to the different slide areas to the sounds that emulate a train or a truck. Also, this playground features an amazing tree house that is accessible to someone in a wheel chair or has difficulty walking. This park is a gem of Richmond for families.

Best park in Richmond? Amazing. Fenced in, plenty of parking, play space galore and of all types. My kids loved it. Plenty of picnic tables.

This 262-acre park is in Richmond's Northside. Most locals come here for the Saturday RVA Big Market. I highly recommend checking the market out and making a day out of it. You can hike a trail while you're there too. There are a lot of picnic benches in the area and grills you can use for cookouts. My friend once rented one of their picnic shelters for her birthday and it was loads of fun. You can rent those spaces online. Although I don't play disc golf, they have disc golf baskets all through the park. Everytime I see them I always consider trying a new hobby. There are parking lots scattered around the park. On weekends it can be a little hard to find parking, but you'll find a spot. You can get a map of the park online. This park is well known and liked by most locals. It's a 5 star spot for me.

Unfortunately I remember the azaleas very differently as a child as many others do as well. If memory serves correctly, there was a much more manicured azalea garden with a beautiful white azalea cross configuration in the middle of an ocean of bright pink azaleas. Unfortunately, I don't know of too many azaleas that last 50 years!

There is so much to explore here and offers something for every level of stepper. Whether you're looking for an intense hike or just a leisurely stroll, this is a great spot to be. The park has multiple entrances and different access points which would make multiple visits here still feel fresh. The park is very hilly and has a lot of inclines so keep that in mind. Once you get down to the park you'll be greeted by the lake trail where you can walk in a loop around the stunning lake. You can also do catch and release fishing here which I saw multiple people doing. While the lake trail is paved, this park also has a variety of cobblestone and natural trails as well. The walks are pretty shaded and all have stunning views of either greenery or some water component. This is a great walking spot if you're wanting to really dive into nature and experience some stunning views. This is definitely a more mild intensity walk mainly because of the inclines, they also have stair entrances to get on the trail as well. There were quite a few people on the trail, consisting of families, groups and even solo walkers. Despite its almost secluded nature this park felt relatively safe with the amount of people present. You may want a trail buddy if veering into the natural trails but the paved lake loop was pretty open making it feel safe for solo walkers. Overall, with its variety of entrances, views, and the moderate challenge, this park is a great choice for regular walkers and nature lovers!

We arrived around 5:30pm and spent until about 7pm exploring all the walking paths. There is something here for everyone. There is a huge playground for little ones, there are paths for walkers/runners/dog walkers, and there were even a bunch of people fishing in the lakes. I love how child-friendly this park is. It felt like most of the bridges, benches, and other fun structures were made by girl or boy scouts. There is a huge parking lot so it's easy to drive to this spot. They also have very clean restrooms. We didn't go in to the nature center, but that was pretty too. I liked that this park had a lot to explore. The water was low enough at one section for us to go to a little island in the middle of one lake. While not all the trees have their leaves yet, I image this is even prettier when everything is in bloom. It was a very serene and lovely place to explore.

This place has plenty of parking, lots of playground equipment, and (as the name suggests) three small lakes to walk around. It's worth noting that the main lake (closes to the park entrance) is where fishing is permitted and has the newest/nicest path as well. The middle lake is enjoyable though is a bit rougher. The far lake was damaged in storms in the past so some of it is pretty rough but still enjoyable to explore. I make sure to hit all three lakes every visit, though if you want a nice clean experience, stick to the main lake. The nature center is nice but fair warning: it's pretty small and won't take more than 10-15 minutes to enjoy in its entirety. Still, the staff member there tends to be nice and there are a few small animals in the little displays there. If you want a fun place to walk (especially if you have kids who like playground equipment), this is a great spot to do it. Overall: 5.0 stars ---- Pros: - Beautiful walking spot. - Pleasant staff. - Lots of free parking. - Fun (if small) nature center. - Plenty of playground equipment for kids. Cons: - It would be great if they fully re-built the third lake, though I suppose the rugged nature of it is part of the charm.

My niece went to school in this area and came to the adjoining community center after school. It looked the same as it did years ago. The park has several big fields, basketball courts, a small playground, a sand pit, restrooms (which aren't very clean), a picnic area and some other amenities. But IMO, it needs some TLC and a facelift. For its size, I think it could stand for some more equipment and newer fixtures. I'm glad this neighborhood has a place for kids and kids at heart to play, yet it is in dire need of a spruce!

They have public bathrooms and water fountains near these picnic tables. There is a large area toward the back of the park which has swings jungle gym in a play area for children. They also have basketball courts a volleyball net with sand and plenty of soccer fields to play A variety of sports. Parking can be quite tricky if you cannot find a spot in there nearby parking lot you could always park across the street from the park. However be mindful of the parking is also designated for the apartment buildings of the gallery nearby. If you park across the street from the park beware that you are crossing a very large and busy intersection of traffic as majority of traffic is coming off of the interstate. Abide by the laws and use the cross walks for safety. My group of friends and I utilize the volleyball net and sand volleyball pit. While the net is not the greatest of quality and does sag it does provide an ample area for volleyball to be played. The sandpit is not easily marked for boundaries for an actual game however there is some sort of haphazard ribbon around the perimeter of the pit. I would recommend wearing flip-flops or sandals if you wish to play in that area. The biggest downside to this park is some of broken glass near the bathrooms and water fountains. Be mindful when children and adults are playing to not be barefooted around these areas. We came across a good amount of broken glass scattered around. Overall the park seems to be used quite often especially on the weekends such as on Saturday and Sunday. One of the smallest yet busiest parks in the museum district, and one of the best hidden secrets. Keep in mind that there are no dogs are allowed on premises, as well as no alcohol, weapons etc. and it closes at dark.
