I have had nothing but good experiences with North Suburban Vision Consultants. I highly recommend them for all of your vision needs. Dr. Press is an excellent optometrist and help me though a nasty eye infection. His treatment plan was clear and effective. As a doctor, he is personable and thorough - I didn't feel rushed like I have at other doctor's offices. After deciding that 20 years of contacts was enough, Dr. Press referred me to Dr. Sondheimer for Lasik surgery. Dr. S conducted the initial consultation at his Skokie office and then I scheduled the procedure at their downtown surgery center. While Lasik isn't a walk in the park for the patient, the result was amazing. I am able to see clearly and have experience minimal side effects. To say this surgery changed my life is an understatement! One tip - don't plan to work for a few days after - my eye were so bloodshot that I didn't really want to interact with other people, but it was well worth being able to see clearly without glasses or contacts. I've been going to this eye doctor for some time. I started about 10 years ago when it was Dr. Serpico's office, and I was about 10 years old. HOWEVER, in the past 4-5 years, Dr. Serpico retired and they have brought in a few different optomatrists since then. Since this switch, going to this eye Dr. has not been the same at all. I have yet to have a good experience. The gentleman at the front desk is very difficult to understand, and on top of that he is NOT very helpful. A different gentleman that helped me pick out my glasses made me very uncomforatble with his "compliments" about the different glasses I was trying on. Dr. Strako I believe is the name of the last Dr. I saw there. He seemed nice enough, but side tracked and busy. Going to the eye doctor is SUPER expensive, so I am definitely taking my business elsewhere so that is actually an enjoyable experience. read more

From my first phone call to schedule an appointment with Jill was easy and very thorough. She informed me what to expect, what my estimated out of pocket expense would be, and that they are out of network with my insurance. However, based on a recommendation of a friend I still wanted to make my appointment with Dr. Press, even being out of my vision network! The day of my appointment was crazy for me because I was running late and then I didn't have my wallet. Brandy was AMAZING!!! I had my hubby send me pics of what I needed and she never once gave me attitude for coming late and unprepared. Her customer service is on point, A game! Nadine the intern and Dr. Press both were thorough, professional and fun with my five year old. She was bummed she didn't need glasses and is excited to go back. I went somewhere else for my eye exam last year and feel like my exam was nowhere near as thorough as this one was. This year I will be making my appointment with Dr. Press for my exam even if I have an out of pocket expense, because my eyes are not something I want to cheap out on and look for a discount, I want quality care! I started going here a couple of years ago and I am a big fan. It is very convenient for me and they are thorough but efficient. My eye doctor, Dr. Brafman, is great and I actually look forward to my appointments. I used to go to another eye doctor in the area but I felt the office tried to push me into certain purchases and I saw a lot of tack on fees (ex "you have to have this certain spray with those glasses or else you won't be able to see clearly"...?). Obviously, in this day and age all health related care is going to be expensive, at least I can trust what these doctors tell me and I know I'm getting the best service possible for the price. read more

I had Lasik twelve years ago after being very nearsighted since childhood, so contacts were difficult after that. I had the most thorough eye exam ever from Dr. Press and an intern and the second pair of contacts they tried were perfect and I can see just as well with them as with my glasses, which is a first! read more

Dr Press and staff were excellent! Highly recommend! Our little was speech delayed and starting kindergarten, little did we know she wasn't able to see very well. Dr Press uncovered her vision impairment quickly and with ease. His approach was excellent and our little always felt at ease. Her glasses opened up a new world and in the last 2 months she has flourished dramatically. Her speech has improved significantly and her engagement in school was even noticed by her teacher. read more

In December I had a terrible eye issue and I was able to make an appointment very fast. I met with Dr. Simic several times that week and she resolved my eye issue for me. I had a wonderful experience with her. A couple weeks later I had received my portion of my bill that wasn't covered by my insurance. I submitted it to my HSA and they issued a check to PR Vision. Done. It is now June and I am receiving a letter from their billing department stating that if I don't pay my balance of $105 dollars within the next 30 days, I'll be taken to collections. I immediately got on the phone with my HSA and they confirmed a check was issued AND cashed. I sent the proof of payment to their billing department and the issue is now resolved. Although I wasn't taken to collections and was able to resolve this issue ON MY OWN, I find this mistake to be pretty big and irreconcilable. I'm a resident in town, they have my contact information, no one informed me that there was an "outstanding" bill. I called PR Vision yesterday to express my frustration and asked to speak to either Dr. Simic or the office manager. None were available. In good faith I cannot recommend this place to anyone. read more

I received the most thorough eye exam I've ever gotten at this place and I've been wearing contacts for 25 years. Dr. Penn figured out I've been wearing the wrong prescription for the last couple years. My last doc told me my eyesight had improved but he had actually messed up somewhere with my exam and prescription. This place also does custom contacts if you have an astigmatism which is pretty cool. Anyway, looking forward to seeing what the world looks like with 20/20 vision again. read more

I saw Dr. Press for the first time about a month ago after having bounced around from retail eye store doctors for many years. I have been kicking myself for not seeing him sooner. The difference in the exam and bedside manner was night and day. First, I appreciated that Dr. Press was on time for my first appointment and my second one yesterday. That is a big win in my book. Overall I found him very personable and attentive to my needs, especially the horrible eye allergies I had been suffering from. His course of treatment has worked unlike the eye Dr. I saw for the same issue a year ago. Over all Dr. Press is a professional, clearly dedicated to his craft and overall a really nice guy, focused of caring for your eye health. I found this office online after I was referred to an Ophthalmologist/Surgeon who was twice as far from my home. This Optometry office refers patients to her if need be so I felt like they were the next closest thing. Making an appointment was easy, parking was easy, Dr. Press was ready for us right away and was very thorough in his examination of my 5 year old. He's great with kids and very personable, and his schooling speaks for itself. His staff was also great to work with. I would recommend Dr. Press and would go to him myself the next time I need an exam. read more

My daughter has lazy eye and I have met with numerous eye doctors over the last couple years. The doctor we saw at this location in 2009 or so was definitely not for us. But when I heard that a new doctor had taken over this practice I made an appointment immediately. (We had been traveling 45-60 minutes to see another doctor and we wanted someone local). We have been to the office 3 times in two weeks and they have been nothing but professional and nice to work with. The women there always have a smile on their face. And Dr. Press is so easy to talk to. He is understanding and can relate to and talk with my 8 year old as well. What a great office and a wonderful change to this practice! read more

Our son started seeing Dr. Press last year for Vision Therapy. We were very happy with how he progressed and how we were kept on top of his goals and could see both at home and in the office's testing how he was getting better. Their new office has tons of parking, a good small play space for younger kids, complimentary cold drinks, and the same great service with experienced at their old location, especially with the funny and courteous front staff. There were a few times we had to change months worth of appointments and Brandy was always helpful and cheerful as she helped us navigate our crazy schedule. Dr. Press is very talented, not only in his competence of his field, but he has a rare gift for working with, motivating young children. My son enjoys interacting with him and has no fear of appointments. We will continue to see him as our eye doctor, even after therapy has ended. read more

What you may ask for is an eye exam, however, what you end up paying for is a list of services that will only become evident to you upon receipt of the bill after your insurance company pays a reasonable amount.
