I provided the oil and filter I was going to use myself, so I wasn't going expecting to pay much at all. When I pick up my car, Carl hands me a bill for $66! Considering when I had gotten a full oil change 2 years earlier from them for $45 (including the oil and filter of course) I was shocked at this amount. I reminded him that I provided the materials. All I needed was the drain plug ($7) and labor (18 minutes). Carl said the cost came from "additional" services they provided such as checking for any lights, tire pressure, fluid levels. Things I never asked them to do anyway since I do that myself. I said the price still didn't add up compared to what I've paid in the past. Carl immediately got furious and said "Fine, take the car. Don't ever come back." This stunned me. I told him my family had been coming here for 10 years and they were usually quite good to us, I just didn't understand this bill. He said an oil change was now $95 (!?) so I was getting a discount. He said, "I don't care about you, I don't need this aggravation. Get out." As a long time customer, I'm hurt. What an abysmal way to talk to someone, especially as a business owner, instead of actually justifying such an absurd charge. They're no longer transparent about pricing, so that they can rip people off, and will throw a fit when called out on it. Falasca's will no longer get my family's business, and I can no longer recommend them to anyone.

It's too easy to talk customers into unnecessary repairs, but they have integrity so they were honest. Good guys on the crew, too. Highly recommend!

I have known and done business with this shop over the years -- they are, in my experience,…read moreswindlers first, charmers second, mechanics last. Bobby and his buddies have a whole formula for making their "customers" (victims seems a more apt term) feel like they're being taken care of: by giving you something inconsequential for free, and making you feel as if they're incredibly generous and working from the goodness of their hearts, or by complimenting you in the most generic fashion. Once they've gained trust, they often proceed to exaggerate problems in the car, implying they are of the utmost urgency. In the process of fixing that "problem," they're likely to "discover" something else, which they suggest is even more urgent (and expensive) than the original problem. They proceed to exorbitantly overcharge for all of these expenses. Here are two brief examples (of many) from over the years: In 2014, I had them replace a timing belt on my car, upon their insistence it needed to be replaced. Within 1,500 miles of driving, the timing belt had been completely torn to shreds as a result of their shoddy installation. They refused to replace the belt until my parents -- far more loyal customers who have hemorrhaged tens of thousands of dollars to them over the years -- threatened to stop patronizing the place. Only then were they willing to admit culpability and compensate me for their shoddy work. Then, in 2024, I noticed a charge on my credit card for approximately $850 from Park Ridge Auto. I called them, asked why they had charged me, and they informed me that it was a mistake -- they had meant to charge my father's card for work they'd done on his car. They apologized and informed me that they would fully refund my card. When I checked back two weeks later, I saw that the refund issued was $42.60 LESS than the original charge -- I was paying $42.60 for their mistake. When I proceeded to call them to ask why they didn't refund me in full, Bobby informed me that this was the credit card fee, and that the credit card fee wasn't their responsibility. They refused to issue this refund until my mother once again threatened to no longer do business there. When I showed up to get the $42.60, Bobby handed me 42 singles in an envelope. When I asked him if they had any twenties, he simply responded, "Go over to the Burger King, get change over there." The smoldering look in his eyes read plain-and-simple: "Fuck you, kid." I was 32 years old. Places like this reinforce negative stereotypes of mechanics as swindlers and thieves. I strongly recommend you stay away.

In an industry where it's easy to feel like you're being upsold or pressured into repairs you don't need, he does the exact opposite. He takes the time to explain what's actually going on with your car, what truly needs to be fixed, and what can wait. What really stands out is how much he cares about his customers and the community. He treats people with respect, charges fair prices, and stands behind his work. You can tell he genuinely wants to help people keep their cars running safely without taking advantage of them. Another thing I admire is how he mentors apprentices and helps the next generation learn the trade the right way--with integrity, patience, and real skill. That kind of leadership is rare. If you're looking for a trustworthy mechanic who does great work and genuinely cares about people, Dapper Auto is the place to go. Highly recommended.

I brought my car to Dapper Auto in Park Ridge, NJ, and from the moment I walked in, I knew I was in good hands. John, the owner, is hands-down the most knowledgeable and experienced mechanic I have ever met. He took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my car in a way that actually made sense (no confusing jargon, no pressure, no upselling). What really sets this place apart is John himself. He's not only incredibly skilled, but he's also funny, easygoing, and genuinely cares about his customers. You can tell he takes pride in his work and treats every car like it's his own. It's rare to find someone so honest and transparent in this industry. And yes, let's just say it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes either -- but more importantly, he backs it up with talent and integrity. My car has never run better. Fair pricing, fast turnaround, top-tier expertise, and an all-around great experience. I won't trust my car with anyone else again. If you're anywhere near Park Ridge, do yourself a favor and go to Dapper Auto. John is truly the greatest mechanic ever. Highly, highly recommend!
