When I saw the building I honestly was not expecting much at all, we walked into a small lobby which was advertising the hotel spa, we went up the lift (which is a good size) as the doors opened I was amazed at the sight which greeted me, a huge chandelier which I was mesmerised by.
We had not booked in for afternoon tea however my daughter who is 3 was asking for one so we went in unsure if we would be turned away and asked a very smiley lady if we could possibly order an afternoon tea, she was more that willing to get us seated and placed us by the ceiling high windows and brought us over some menus. I was sceptical of bringing the children to such a beautiful sophisticated place but the staff couldn't have made us all feel any more welcome, we ordered the classic afternoon tea however there was a few options from a children's aftenoon tea to a gentleman's afternoon tea (which need to be booked).
The handsome waiter took our drinks order and as he was busy preparing the Park Regis own blend tea which I must say was delightful, the manager came over and spoke with the children then informed us that they would be doing a practice fire drill so we would need to exist the building he sincerely apologised and offered some complementary drinks for the children. Shortly after our teas arrived and we sat looking at the beautifully presented restaurant, as expected the fire alarm went off the staff all remained calm and professional we left the building and expected to be outside for quite some time however no sooner had we reached the assembly point we were invited back in.
Once we reached our table the manager was there to ensure we were all OK and ordered the waitress to bring the children some apple juice, it arrived in a large decanter with a bucket of ice placed at the side of the table. A lovely old gentlemen brought over two childrens activity packed which included stickers, crayons, games and a story. A waitress took away our tea and replaced them with lovely new hot pots of tea. We the had our amuse bouche arrive at the table which was spiced chicken with mustard and pickles, very well presented and delightful. The food then came out carried by two beautiful ladies, the food looked amazing my daughter windows excited with the handmade pastries. There was a nice selection of sandwiches and also a smoked salmon wrap. We also had a fruit scone which was served with the option of clotted cream, jam or lemon curd and a savoury scone each served with parsley butter. We sat and ate, chatted and laughed for a few hours, when leaving we all felt so full and chuffed with the service we had received.
I would more than recommended a lovely afternoon tea with superb service at the Park Regis hotel. read more
