Ah, public swimming baths. I usually restrict myself to only going swimming in a public pool when I'm on holiday, during which the pool is usually refreshingly cold before becoming warmer.
However, on occasion I have been known to venture out to local swimming baths such as this one in Ormskirk. This is mainly due to my two adorable nieces who I take swimming sometimes, although usually in the Formby pool around the corner from my house.
We recently decided to venture further afield though and go to Park Pool in Ormskirk, a swimming baths I went to many times as a youngster.
The centre itself has two pools - a 2.5m main pool for the grown ups and a 12.5m learner's pool for the youngsters, which I always remember as being very warm in my youth. The pools were both very well maintained and well-sized, offering ample space for all the swimmers and the facilities themselves were good, with the changing rooms spacious and clean. In addition to the two pools, the centre also has a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well as a refreshment area, meaning you can enjoy a hot or cold drink after your swim.
In general I probably wouldn't visit Park Pool that often as we have a pool in Formby, but if you're local then it's nice enough. read more
