This is a review, not of the hotel, but of the hotel restaurant only. I was staying across the way at the Imperial Hotel, and joined two my friends for their prix fixe dinner. I wish I could speak to the VALUE of that dinner, but I can't -- it's normally inclusive of the room rate, and one of my friend paid a charge to add me, and wouldn't let me reimburse him. So I can only tell you about the food itself ...
... which was well-prepared, and good comfort food. I had soup, a steak and kidney pie, and lemon meringue pie. No, it wasn't a destination restaurant, but the food wasn't to to be scoffed at, either. The pie was better than average, moist and tart. Service was good, too.
Not a place I'd have chosen -- I was led there by friends -- but not one I felt ill-served by, either. read more
