With that information - the rooms have absolutely NOT changed since the 1980's. When this place first opened, it was a big deal. Not only an indoor pool - but a WHIRLPOOL! So yes, it was quite the place. The staff is very friendly and nice. I've never had an issue with noise or problematic neighbors. The only issue you might run into (during the winter months) is hearing the snowmobiles - and in the summer months - the 4 wheelers. That's their clientele, and it suits them just fine, thank you. If, for whatever reason, you find yourself stuck without a car, you are in walking distance to Super One and IGA. Subway and McDonald's are across the street. Overall I can't complain about the NML - I've had better, and I've had worse - but this one is still ok in my book.

Well, these things are all still true minus the fanciest part. (I'm honestly not sure which hotel would deserve that title...) Having spent the weekend at the Motor Lodge over Flambeau Rama, I was perfectly satisfied. Is the room high class? No. Are the towels super fluffy like unicorn hair? No. Are there flat screen tvs? Nope. But you know what? The Motor Lodge did a fine job. The rooms were clean and reasonably comfy. Amazingly, I barely heard fellow travelers in other rooms. The location is excellent and easy to find. The prices, while higher during Flambeau Rama I'd imagine, were competitive and affordable. Next time I swing through town, I'll stay here again. Oh, and being connected to the Lanes is STILL cool. Don't argue with me on that point!

No tea bags for hot tea with the "continental breakfast," just two huge bags for making iced tea. No real 1/2 and 1/2 for coffee and tea; I know this may seem picky, but we're in WISCONSIN! Pillow cases are yellowed and my room smells faintly like a dog. The owners may be saving money in the short-term by cutting corners on amenities and service, but they're losing repeat customers in the long-term.

The macaroni and cheese was a joke; it was Kraft mac and cheese and was a waste of the $6 or so that I spent on it. They have lots of parking--a surprising amount it felt like for the size of the restaurant. But they do have a substantial outdoor seating area (half or more of the seating was outside) and a bar, so the parking sure helps. They have some gaming machines as well if you want to do some gambling. Super convenient for the cabins surrounding the place.

The only drawback, don't come for lunch because the kitchen does not open until 2 and it closes at 8. We stopped for lunch and didn't know they weren't open. On our way back we came back for pizza and I'm glad we did. It was awesome. The spinach and artichoke dip was great too.
