We were scouting the Ferry Terminal because we were planning on taking the Ferry to San Francisco…read morein a couple of days. We wanted to see the location, parking and the area in general. We had the Princess with us and as we were leaving mapped out the nearest dog park. Lo and behold, it was right next door! It's not a huge park but there's enough room to throw a ball and run around in. Parking is one the rocks right in front of the gate on Main Street. I suppose you could also park in the Ferry Terminal parking lot although I'm not sure if that's okay or not. There are two entrances to the park. The main entrance on Main Street has a dual gate entrance while the entrance on the Ferry Terminal side is a single gate. Dual gates are my preference because it adds a layer of safety should one gate accidentally not latch properly. We found a couple of dog toys and there were several bowls with water. There were also numerous gallon jugs with water in them. There is no water fountain nor restroom onsite, so it appears that other pet parents are taking empty jugs and filling them. The encampments and motorhomes that other wrote about in 2022 and 2023 are no longer there, so the area feels relatively safe.

Biggest problem is that it is difficult to get to assuming your not living nearby. Alameda is such a drag to drive around in - I'd say its almost as bad as downtown San Francisco in terms of driving 1 mile will cost you 12 minutes. Lots of stop signs and tiny narrow streets. Crowded feeling. Your dog will love it. If he is cooped up in a tiny apartment there is space to run. Also important for your dog to socialize and do some flea swapping with the next dog. They love that.

Looking on a map, it would be near 8th St & Portola Ave. Exact address is 1300 8th St. I haven't seen other dog parks, so I don't how this one compares. I've been here a few times with a friend with a small dog. Also, I walk by alot as it's near the sidewalk. The Dog Park is one huge fenced in area, and a separate smaller area for small dogs. It's sand, grassy areas with some trees. There's water and some places to sit. I think it's cool that ARPD set up this dog park. (ARPD- Alameda Recreation And Park Department)

This place didn't really have any new reviews,so I reluctantly decided to try it. First the good. There's plenty of parking, they have a big and small dog side. We decided to try the small dog side. There were people trying to separate some large dogs on the big dog side. Not a good sign. The small dog side has sand. Which personally I hate, because it gets in the dogs ears and eyes. Both causing irritation. We stayed for just a little bit. I had to be careful because I noticed people ignoreing their dogs and not picking up after their dogs. Won't be coming back

Beautiful scenic views, plenty of green grass, and ample parking make it well worth the trip. Tam, and SF skyline), miles of trails and fields, poop bags and trashes throughout, benches, parking, restrooms, Sit & Stay cafe for drinks/food, Mudpuppy's for baths and dog supplies. You may have the occasional kerfuffle amongst dogs, but most are comfortable off-leash, interacting with other dogs and people. If you want a small fenced area or separation between big and small dogs, this isn't the spot for you. If you enjoy walking while your doggo romps and runs around, or watching other dogs play, this is your dream come true. Now for the caveats: Beware that there are lots of foxtails in the summer. Low tide reveals a silty, bottom-of-the-bay mud that is sticky and very STINKY. Puddles after a rain can also be stinky and silty but they're doing a better job using wood chips to help cover many of them.

Also an abundance of den Mothers. Watch where you step, not everyone picks up after their dog. I also recommend walking around the park before you throw a ball for your pooch. There are many holes in the sand/dirt and a dog in a full run can break a leg. And so can his human. If you know where those holes are , you can pick a smoother spot. This is by and far the biggest and best dog park in the East Bay. IT'S HUGE! Within comfortable driving distance from home through quaint northern Alameda, the park boasts two sides, depending on the size of your four-legged cuddle monster. Inside, the place is decked out generously with chairs and picnic tables galore. In fact, I had a picnic birthday party for one of my dogs a few years ago inside the large park, and family and friends were able to bring their furry companions for a day-long frolic at the park. It was great! If you're looking for a place to take your little (or giant) ones for a couple hours while you sit back and relax while they have their day, think about coming here. Then afterwards, enjoy a lovely stroll along the beach at Crown Memorial State Beach right behind the dog park. There's no better way to end your fun filled day.

I mean... why fake grass if you can give your dogs the real experience instead of touching plastic with their paws.... anyways that's another topic. This dog park is small but gets very busy. Most people are residents or live nearby. If you're not sure where to find a lot of dogs for yours to play with, this park might just be it. Watch out. Because it's fake grass, even if the owners pick up the poop it'll leave doodooo residuals EVERYWHERE on the grass.

We love Mission Bay Dog Park!…read more The dog park itself is a long rectangle situated between apartment buildings in the Mision Bay area. The park is covered primarily in astroturf and includes two fire hydrants, some benches, a three port water fountain, and 3 poop bag dispensers (one on each end and one in the middle). The park itself is pretty much always clean. Many of the dogs are from the neighborhood so there are a lot of regular. Practically all the owners we have met are also pretty nice. If you're driving to the park, there is a ton of parking in the area. Only downside is that meters in Mission Bay go until 10pm, but that's no fault of the park. The park is open from 6am until 10pm and we have found that the best time to go is in the morning before work or in the later evening, post 8pm. The park can be especially busy right after working hours and, for us, we try not to go during this time. We love this park and go to it almost daily!

Strawberry trees that were probably planted in the year 2002 are looking really good these days. The tree trunks are very pleasing to the eye. Most of these fancy condos were built around that time and so the trees have had a chance to mature. I do have two of these in my front yard that are tiny and are not growing too well as they are suffocated with other plants closely packed in. Lots of fancy condos built here - the latest one named Phoenix Commons. The Glascock condos all have different names such as Waterpark Lofts andHarborwalk. The lawn areas are very well taken care of and crazy clean even though you will find multiple dogs out at any given moment. One editor from Oakland Voices lives here and talks about walking her dog along this path. It is a few blocks of paradise (with the exception of the occasional 3am train) perfect for getting some sun. Across the way is Raley's supermarket and the other two boarders are the Park Street Bridge and the Sweeney Bridge. This isn't a dramatic ocean view but for what it is its pretty good. Open to the public but it appears that mostly immediate residents are the only ones to frequent.

More than enough space to accommodate all the dogs and their owners. Several water stations around the park. My only gripe is that shade is sparse. If I came back during summer, I'd definitely want to come here at 8am or so. It was my first time taking our pup to a dog park since I've read many horror stories. I'm glad there were no unfortunate incidents today though. Owners seemed really attentive to what their dogs were doing, and only one out of the many dogs there seemed to be somewhat aggressive. It was nice seeing all the dogs sniffing and playing with each other. So much space to run and pee! The astroturf is definitely a plus. Just wish we were closer!

I'd say there was limited seating relative to the size of the space, but I did a lot of walking around rather than sitting anyway. There's also not a lot of shade so if it's a particularly sunny and hot day, it may not be a good place to go. I liked that this park was flat and provided a couple of water fountains, a small dog agility area, several trash cans and different entrance/exits. I would come back!
