On June 20, 2016 I went to Park Ave. Auto Sales and told the person behind the desk, later identified as , that I wanted an inspection sticker and that my air condition was not as cold as it should be and may need to be recharged. The sales man told me to return the next day and we agreed on the time of 2:30 p.m. I asked him approximately how much it was for the recharge and he told me two cans of Freon would be approximately $30. But told me they would have to look at it.
I returned the next day June 21, 2016 a little early and told the same man that I was there for the inspection sticker and reminded him I wanted the mechanic to look at the air conditioner because it was not as cold. He assured me that he would have the mechanic look at this. My car was taken into the garage and the salesman spent time looking for the mechanic, saying he was on lunch. The salesman asked me to leave my car and return in an hour, which I refused as I did not have a ride. I waited for my vehicle, watched the salesman get a can of Freon from a cabinet and leave, then come in an get another can of Freon from a cabinet and leave. In the meantime another gentleman came into the shop and sat at another desk. He began answering calls and I received the impression that he was the owner.
The salesman then returned after about a half an hour of working on my car. He stated there was something wrong with my air conditioner. He stated the mechanic had added two cans of Freon to my car and the air conditioner was not working. The salesman tells me I am going to have to bring the car back and leave it. The salesman tells me that it is probably the compressor or a sensor. He tells me they will look at it, and have to call me with a price. We talk about me bringing the car back the following week and to call him to make an appointment.
When I get out to my car, there is nothing but hot air coming out of the vents. It is oppressively hot. I tell myself this is what I get for having someone tinker around with it, that I should have left it alone. The week continues and it is hot in my car, I cannot even stand it. As I am driving to pick up my son at school I notice another mechanic has a sign outside his shop stating he diagnosis problems with air conditioners. On a whim, I go in and ask if he will look at mine. I give him a brief synopsis of what happened at the other place. The mechanic leaves with my car, and within minutes comes into the waiting area, asking me to come with him. This mechanic states that my car only needs 1.9 lbs of Freon, and there is currently 6 lbs of Freon in my car. The mechanic shows me a measuring tool that lets him know that my car is "in the red" and proceeds to show me what it does. The mechanic tells me that this will blow a compressor on a car. The mechanic tells me he is going to try and save me from having to get a compressor. He tells me that he empties the Freon from my air conditioner and cleans it out. He then adds the proper amount of Freon. The mechanic tells me the reason my car was blowing only cooler air before was because it needed to be cleaned, not added more Freon.
I returned to Park Ave. Auto Sales, after picking up my son, to tell them what happened. I tell them that their mechanic added more Freon to my car, without checking to see if it even needed Freon. The man, who I did not previously deal with, who I believe is the owner begins telling me that I am not a mechanic I have no idea what I am talking about. This man continues to argue with me when I tell him that it is common sense that you would check before adding more. I also tell him that what his mechanic did would have blown my compressor, which is awfully funny since that is what they said I may need. This man continues to argue with me and snidely offers to give me $30 which is what he charged me for the Freon. I agree and he continues to talk loudly to me telling me I have no idea what I am talking about and that he has been a mechanic for 30 years ( he was not the person who worked on my car). I have my son in my arms, who is beginning to cry. The salesman insists he needs my debit card back to credit my money, which I am not going to give to him since I don't know what he will do at that point. I tell him forget about the $30, I don't want it. I am tired of arguing with him and that I am going to tell the Better Business Bureau and every one I know, not to do business with him. The owner then proceeds to follow me out to my car, yelling and screaming, while I am trying to buckle my son in his car seat. He is screaming "I offered you $30 and you refused it, tell the Better Business Bureau that" "tell everyone, tell the whole world. I have been in business 30 years." I close my son's door and tell him "well your business sucks", he then tells me "sucks, that is really ladylike" and I tell him "you want to see ladylike, Fuck You". And I left. What a gentleman, follows a woman out to her car, with a four year old yelling and read more
