It was similar to the butter at Pierre Gagnaire and L'Arpege in Paris. Turns out it is the same great butter from the master Jean Yves Bordier. His old technique of churning butter in old wooden barrels creating some of the yellowest, almost cheese like butters, Ive ever seen. I guess it's no surprise that Chefs like Sergio Herman, Alain Passard and Pierre Gagnaire get there product from here. It is pretty phenomenal. I wish I lived nearby and try some of his great sounding compound butters. I guess the next time Im in France a trip here might have to be on the books.

So reasonable that I almost went insane, since most items are self-service and paid for by the weight. I grabbed the clear plastic bags and filled one after another with chocolates and marzipan. I also got fruit jellies, which are made from real fruits, and cookies that are in the middle of the back (not against the wall). No, I am not done. I also got caramels with flower petals, with fleur de sel, with pistachios. Lots and lots of homemade caramels. While I don't speak French, I will say that the people in this chocolate shop were very kind and patient. From my experience, it seems when you're out of the City of Light, you encounter nicer people, at least when it comes to places that involve customer service. I brought home lots of my goodies and made my own giftboxes at home to distribute the sweets to friends and family. If you are worried about money and space, this is the way to go! I was able to fit the chocolate bags in my luggage between my clothes, without worrying about crushing boxes. Once I was Stateside, I got to sample some of my loot and can tell you that everything from the truffles, to the fruit jelly, to the biscuits, to the macarons, to the marzipan are fantastic. Even if you don't need to bring gifts, stop by for a treat for yourself.
