Pool / Snack Bar Area
Jason M.

As far as KOA's go, this place is top notch. New owners, putting lots of work into the place, and a good location for people looking for activities in the area. Full hook up sites are really nice, easy pull-through style. The bathrooms are clean, the pool is really well done. Other activities include a new playground (under construction June 2016), pedal cars for the kids, and lots of activities including a lego wall in the gift shop. This isn't always our style of camping, but we really enjoyed our one night here and the owner is a top-notch operator.

My son was speechless.

The playground is expansive, the disc golf sprawling, and the nature trail walk is safe, well-paved and contained to the area. The tasteful patriotic memorials are lovely reminders of those who have served and continue to serve our country. Even on a weekday evening, there were plenty of children, people playing disc golf, strolling alone or with their dogs. A safe and lovely outdoor venue!

I saw several groups playing disc golf and there appear to be 18 basket targets. The tee off signs include memorials for various wars as well. A pavilion with fourteen picnic tables that seat eight each can accommodate at least a hundred people. There are four small grills as well. The children's playground has both baby and regular swings, slides, and plenty of areas to climb and burn off energy. A butterfly garden displays lots of butterfly-friendly plants and some small water features. There are several chairs to sit and enjoy the butterflies. Overall, it's a beautiful, quiet park with plenty of space to either play or relax and reflect.

I've only visited a couple of times and have mostly walked the perimeter, so I haven't seen…read moreeverything this park has to offer. However, what I've seen is absolutely gorgeous. There is truly nothing like being out in nature, walking the trails, and taking in the wildlife and beautiful scenery. I've seen people enjoying leisurely walks, others getting in a serious workout by jogging, kids playing hopscotch, and some simply stopping to appreciate the beauty of it all. The atmosphere is so peaceful that I've even sat in my car in the middle of the day and read a book, that's how relaxing this place is! The hills can be a bit challenging, but they're well worth it. Now, my legs may have had a different story on the topic (LOL)! Whether you're visiting alone or spending time with family and friends, there's something here for everyone. This is definitely a kid and dog friendly place too! I can only imagine how much more there is to explore within the park. I look forward to returning and discovering this rich urban forest. Pro Tips: *There is plenty of parking, both as you enter the park and further down near the nature center. Stop in there as well -- You can pick up directions and a map of the park to help plan your visit. There are also events that take place throughout the year. *Admission is free, for everyone to enjoy! *Try to go in the mornings or mid day. *Bring your camera and preserve your memories, it truly is a beautiful place. *As a safety precaution, always make sure to lock your car doors, you can never be too careful! As I continue to return, I will be sure to update you on my various experiences. So I hope you follow along! Muah!

With many options for paved or dirt/gravel paths you can find something for each occasion. My personal favorite is the 5.8 mile loop. I have yet to brave the 11.2 mile loop. Beware of the stairs and hills! If you go during the weekday you might even spot a celebrity- perhaps Keith Urban *hint hint*

This hidden gem…read morein Montgomery Bell State Park is packed with history, and it's one of the coolest spots I've explored. Built in the early 1800s, this tunnel was carved by hand to transport iron ore for a thriving industry. But what makes it even more special is the story behind it--enslaved people worked here, and their efforts helped shape the future of Tennessee. It's crazy to think that something so important is tucked away in the middle of the woods, just waiting to be discovered! https://www.tiktok.com/@reessroots/video/7535575693854297374?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7352687494821037610 The tunnel is almost 300 feet long, and standing inside it feels like stepping back in time. You can almost hear the echoes of the past! Most people are out there hitting all the usual tourist spots, but places like Montgomery Bell Tunnel are the ones that actually make you feel something. If you're into history, adventure, or just exploring off the beaten path, this is definitely the place to be. Skip the crowded tourist traps and head to Montgomery Bell Tunnel for some real history! Trust me, you'll be talking about it long after you leave. #HiddenGems #HistoryUncovered #ExploreTennessee

It's a sunburn ride away from Woodlawn...I definitely got that today! Our friends ordered BBQ sandwiches with slaw. No one offered them napkins, BUT I am an always be prepared kinda lady and had Charmin wet wipes in our tour pack. Ya never know! The BBQ, AMAZING! It always is. There is a campground/RV park in behind the bar and General Store. Very clean and well maintained. I've stayed there a couple of nights in the past. I've been told that on Tuesday's they have an amazing steak dinner. I've never been there for that, but I'm looking forward very much to trying it soon. Of course, in my Yelp Elite fashion, I will update my review!

The owner Mary was very accommodating to our family and always very warm and welcoming when we stopped in the store. All the campers were the same. We were tent camping but Mary let us set up in front of a rental camper so we could use the electric to charge to boat and she was even gave us access to the camper to use the restroom and wash our dishes. She ever notified us that a neighboring camper was putting their camper up for sale and was just what we were looking for. We are now considering buying the camper and having a place up there of our own.
