This is a great little neighbourhood cafe. Very decent coffee for cheap, a few good nibbles in the form of homemade croissants and baked goods, and a grille in the back for a fry up, an English breakfast, or whatever basic lunch fare you can dream up with the typical deli ingredients.
In the summertime, the patio is excellent. Massive with plenty of room, and it sits within Vauxhall Park so nice, quiet, and nature-y.
The staff are friendly, and foot traffic is low enough through this particular corner of Vauxhall that they recognise you when you come back the second time. This is the quintessential local corner shop that every city dweller loves to dream about, but very few are willing to walk a few extra metres for.
Give it a shot for a tranquil afternoon mosey through Vauxhall Park's lavender patch. Wave at MI-6 in the distance. Get in a tennis match on the next door courts which are regularly free and well maintained. Enjoy the massive kids' section, or the equally massive dog run, of the park that only Vauxhallers tend to know about. Or just lay out on the massive field in the middle of the park.
Either way, grab your coffee here first, take a lap, and come back for a quick lunch - they'll certainly recognise you on the return trip! read more
