It's in very good condition, albeit the white furniture is getting worn and some wear is starting to show on walls and doors. There are some lovely large shuttered doors that open to a nice balcony where you can stand on a nice evening and enjoy a glass of wine. The hotel is a bit difficult to find, but it's right near the renowned street market and main roads to shop on. The staff are wonderful and helpful and there is a restaurant attached that has a nice buffet breakfast as well. So the NEGATIVES: The hotel is not at all sound proof. You can hear furniture moving in the floors above as well as people talking outside. The BIGGEST NEGATIVE! Is that the hotel is located in Ballaro area. This is were the Algerian gang Black Axe operates...I'll let you google them or refugee Palermo. We were not aware of this issue when looking for a hotel, and no other reviewers mentioned this. We didn't stay out late or much past sunset when they are all starting to hang out on street corners near the hotel. I went around the backside of the hotel to go find a store to buy some water and there were little rooms or old stores that a lot of them were sitting in. Scary. The other negative was as we walked through the street market one street over from the hotel during the day and ventured up one more road, it was like 3rd world...Garbage everywhere, people selling their used stuff. I've never seen anything like it. We thought we made a huge mistake coming here. Just stay on the main touristy roads and it's ok, but we wouldn't stay here if we knew the area was so bad.

Please find a better hotel!…read more My wife and I visited Palermo last week. Upon our arrival around 8:30 pm we were greeted and followed by a drunk man. The front door of the hotel is locked due to it being in a poor, unsafe area. We did not feel safe so we didn't want to risk going for a walk around the city at night. The wifi connection is terrible and there were two clearly visible insect traps in two corners of the room. The next morning my wife and I searched and found a better hotel to stay at. No basic coffee machine in the room and No phone in the room so if you want to order a room service (even a bottle of water, or a towel) you need to go to the front desk and ask for it. On one of the evenings my daughter decided to get very hungry and asked if she could order a room service a plain pasta pomodoro, after waiting for half an hour they gave me the pasta in a styrofoam like to go box with disposable fork and a knife. I don't mind it, but I have a problem of them charging me a full price as I ate at the restaurant which includes the service fee. The breakfast they offer is a joke. Honestly I don't know how they received a 3 star rating, as I've traveled all over Italy and their star ratings match the accommodations the hotels provide. I guess Sicily has different criteria for star rating.

The breakfast is fantastic: a lot of things are home made, for example the cakes. The cheese and salami come from nearby area. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The rooms with the windows on the main street are a bit noisy but they are the best choice if you want to try the typical life of a small Sicilian village.

The staff couldn't do enough for us. The outdoor spaces are amazing. The restaurant and bar offer well shaded dining areas with an ocean view. It's a lot of fun to linger offer the excellent breakfast or a cocktail. The poolside area is ringed with lounge chairs and attentive staff. At first I was concerned because the hotel is located outside of downtown Palermo. There are shuttles that drop you off downtown. It was actually a relief to be at a quiet location away from the crowded city center. Rooms are expensive, but staying here is an indulgence. It's well worth the splurge.

Four nights at this hotel, which is currently branded under the Best Western chain and was part of…read moremy Delta Vacations trip. The hotel is in a good location and had restaurants and shopping within walking distance. It's in a busy neighborhood but there was little noise other than the occasional siren. Nothing from the hallway or neighbors. Checking in was easy though there was a little confusion as to the level of room I had booked. The emailed receipt clearly said "executive suite" but they want to put me in a standard room. After reviewing the email, this was dealt with quickly and I received the room I had booked and they apologized. My room was on the first floor (second floor in American) at the very end of the hallway so it was quiet. Balcony to the street, queen bed and work desk. Wifi worked reasonably well in my room but my friend in the next room down had some trouble. I think I was just at the edge of the AP's range. The room also had a hot water kettle and instant coffee packets. Twice I had to ask at the desk for creamer as it was neglected by the housekeeping staff who otherwise did a good job. A good amount of storage including a safe. Full shower had very hot water. I did not have their breakfast or visit the bar. Check-out was easy and they accurately charged me only for the small city tax. Overall, a very pleasant stay and if I were to return to Palermo I would stay here again.
