The ascent to the top can be taxing if you take the pathway that includes the stairs. I would recommend taking one of the trails up to pace yourself and enjoy the journey to the scenic views. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the legendary Landscape Architect who also designed New York's Central Park, and the grounds for Stanford...the impressive list goes on. You really get the impression that this park was thoughtfully designed and planned to harmonize with the native species of plants. There are two Belvederes where you can view the city. We ventured up to Kondiaronk Belvedere and were treated to sweeping views of the city. If you are looking for a postcard-perfect view of Montreal, this is it! Mount Royal Park is a must-do and was definitely one of the highlights of our Canadian trip. Don't miss this park, it's immersive qualities are outstanding and your are rewarded with incredible views if you persevere to the top!

The parking lot was full so people were parking on the street, no problem since it's not downtown or anything. When we walked in there was a waiver on an iPad to enter your personal info, the form was tedious and I noticed people just gave up as did I. Free for kids under 4!! Despite the full parking lot it was orderly inside and everyone was thankfully going in the same direction (counter clockwise) There are some small ramps along the track in the inner loop. My son got a boo boo and they had a box of free and aids. They also have another large room for advanced ramps for the bigger kiddos who are more adventurous. Tip: If you want to ride next to your child, bring some roller blades or a scooter so you can catch up with him but don't forget your helmet (mandatory for kids and adults)

There is also a large parking lot open year round. It is wonderful during all seasons. During the summer, families come to barbecue and relax, using the bbqs that are at the park. There is a dog park that is great for dog lovers. You can go for a morning jog, play beach volleyball, have a picnic, and more! The possibilities are endless! During the winter, many people come tobogganing, skating and cross country skiing. Year round, there is a public bathroom inside the chalet with water fountains in the same area. It is truly a perfect park for families in the west island who want some green space without driving all the way to Mont Royal.

The pond, the small waterfall, the cobble-stone paths, the library (now over 100 years old), the green spaces, the variety of huge, mature trees which give plenty of shade, you can easily pick up lunch on the go on Sherbrooke street and come over and spend an afternoon here spread out on a blanket, either chilling out with a great friend or a great book. There were talks about renting out more ice skates for the rest of us but decided not to. So should I assume that the building that's next to the ice rink have rental skates? Maybe, not sure. But there were seats as well as orange seals that we used to help the little one get her balance and push around the rink. What's really great is the rink is free but make sure to check the daily schedule as there are specific times when it's free to the public and then there are either hockey practices or other things that are happening throughout the day. So make sure you check the website: https://montreal.ca/lieux/patinoire-bleu-blanc-bouge-du-parc-willibrord Aside from that, there's a playground as well so if you don't want to skate, the little ones can play in the park. If there's enough snow or ice, there's also a man made rink that's on the other side of the rink that's there. But this time around it was too warm so no man made rink this time. Otherwise, what a lovely place to be able to do some skating! Makes you want to buy your own skates if you're in the area to take advantage of it.

Love this park !…read more Even tho I'm not a kid the park still has picini table to chill out at, picnic or ice cream. If you do have kids note that this park has the water park thats perfect for hot summer days. There's water fountain as well so don't worry you'll be fine out there. Park closes at 11 and that means the water turns off as well, so there's no sneaking in after hours for a late night soak lol. Love this spot
