The parking was incredibly convenient and directions to the Boathouse itself were very clear. We did have a small spot of difficulty finding the door to go to the upper level however. Once upstairs, the view of the CT River, East Hartford, and Hartford was spectacular. The late summer afternoon sun plus faint breeze made for a perfectly comfortable time. People mingled at standing tables and around the benches on the upper deck (and there were a respectable number of benches, which isn't often the case). Inside the event space were polished wooden floors and high ceilings. A coworker noted the restrooms were somewhat oddly placed behind a long hallway closed off by a door and there were some cobwebs in the window frames, but otherwise the space was quite nice. The staff at the bar on the deck poured wine just shy of the adjective "liberal" which was great. However, some other coworkers had to request adjustments of the food arrangement to prevent cross-contamination for those with allergies (adjustments were made promptly). The food - seasonal tapenade for appetizers and build-your-own pasta bar for the main - were well done otherwise with a good array of options. On the whole, a respectable event space on a scenic river. There were other groups actively using the rowing space/lower level, but you could barely tell because the upper level was high enough away.

We were very unhappy with the DJ but happy with the Photo Booth set up and staff. My husband and I had DJ Craig for our wedding in September 2023. We had two meetings with him beforehand were we discussed how we would like the night to run. In addition to a list of "must-play" songs (something we were encouraged to complete), we discussed how we would like our table-dash, anniversary dance, alumni photo, and private dance to operate. We also noted on multiple occasions during both calls that we DID NOT want a lot of remixes. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with how DJ Craig managed all of these aspects except for the table dash and private dance. Here is where our issues lie: - Out of our 30 or so must play songs maybe half were played. - As laid out on the Marx Entertainment website we chose a "last song" for the dance floor. DJ Craig played the song we designated as our last song as a way to open the dance floor. - The first 30 minutes were exclusively remixes and bad ones at that. It got to the point where we said something to DJ Craig, and while the music did get better, he still continued to play remixes. Honestly, a Spotify playlist would have been better. - The anniversary dance was something DJ Craig suggested and we loved the idea. However, instead of doing what he had described to us where he starts calling people off the dance floor after some dancing and starting with short time increments, DJ Craig called for anyone married for less than 5 years to leave the dance floor after approximately 20 seconds. People hadn't even REACHED the dance floor to start dancing at that point, including the parents of the groom. Not to mention we are a young couple and that kicked more than half of the people off the dance floor in one sweep. - College alumni photo was announced at a very weird time and very rushed. Just felt awkward - We were immediately asked once the lights turned on to provide a positive video review for DJ Craig. This was extremely uncomfortable and we gave dishonest feedback during it. We would NOT recommend him. Like I said previously, the Photo Booth staff was excellent and we loved the book they made us. We also had no issues with booking or prior communication with Marx. While the set up and logistical execution of the event went well we didn't feel our opinions were considered at all in song selection and that the fun mini-events we had throughout the night went poorly

Marx Entertainment did an exceptional job with our wedding ceremony and reception. They provided a…read morededicated online portal where we could easily share lists of our song preferences and we were also able to meet both over the phone and in person with our DJ prior to the event to discuss details. Our DJ, Manu, went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a successful event. He was in touch with us via phone and text a few days prior to finalize details, he arrived several (4-5!) hours early to make sure everything was set up correctly and sounding great, and once things got started I don't think he took even a 5 minute break! The music was great, he was a welcoming and enthusiastic MC, and I can't think of a single complaint. He even thanked US at the end for such a fun and warm event. We were so happy. We would hire them again in a second!

We didn't arrive until just before midnight 8/24/21. This supervisor should be a manager (I failed to get his name but I'm sure you can see who worked that night). Although it was late he was so welcoming as if it was 8am! He accomodated us because I reserved a room that didn't allow a dog and gave us an additional room just below the other. He didn't hesitate or make it seem as if he was doing us a favor (although he was), he just did it. Less than 10 minutes later we were in two very well appointed rooms. EVERYTHING was to par. Also the early morning of 8/28 I spoke to the front desk (monique?) We were there because we were moving our daughter into school. She spoke with me for like 10 minutes helping me figure out getting a dolly and helped ease my anxiety (something she didn't have to do). I asked her name from Darryl (who only gave me Moniques name) but I know she was night shift to early am.... I sincerely thank you! The laughs and exchange of stories eased all my fears! Service is a stickler for me and when you're given this level of attentiveness it's shows how much they care, even for the hotel itself. I had no complaints about anything in the rooms they were perfectly cleane and what is expected! I will return without hesitation.

I believe this closes at sunset but I've been out here at sunrise and it's been pretty quiet until 9:30 am or so. There are a few walking trails and the docks/front of the boathouse (the cement areas) do flood during heavy rain. Definitely a Glastonbury community symbol... :) Lots of kids fishing on the dock/by the river. Playground on the premises & then the Glastonbury parks and rec manages the fields behind the clubhouse. I've been here when there was a wedding and it seemed intimate and romantic. I'm a big fan of this spot!

Let me also state the obvious: Nancy's services are not the cheapest. BUT, you do get what you pay for which is outstanding service, terrific followup, and a partner for your event. Our attendees gushed over the food and the beautiful interior. As president of the club, I can say the staff was amazing throughout the night. They were all knowledgable and helpful whenever a question arose. Laura and Chris were able to accommodate every request while we were setting up. It was the smoothest, most stress free event we've had in a long time thanks to everyone at Marquee. After this year, the CADC awards will be at Marquee for at least the next few years, maybe longer.
