The abutting King County…read moreDistrict Court (Shoreline location) has its parking lot restricted from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday, so when I arrived a little after 8:30 a.m. today, Thursday 20 April 2023, I decided to go with the street parking. There were a few people at the park and a variety of birds were singing. I spotted a bunny rabbit, Rufous-sided towhee, and robin while walking around. A paved path around the park helped alleviate any fears I had of tripping. The grass, playground, and gazebo were well maintained and cleanly. A small bridge connecting the playground area to the gazebo area went over a waterway. Fun place to go on a quiet day like today and do some wildlife watching.

I went during one of the lowest tides of the year, and I saw a lot of sea life. I saw sea cucumbers, sea stars, fish, countless sea anemones, etc. On the walk back, I even saw a ginormous moon snail. There were incredible views of the water and sand. It's super refreshing to relax here. Do note that you have to climb a fenced overpass across some railroad tracks, so if you're nervous about heights, don't look down! The washrooms here weren't well stocked with soap when I visited, but it might be because of the sheer volume of visitors. Multiple car parks were full. It's great to see that everyone is so interested in nature!

It's peaceful & shaded- usually quiet. We appreciate having such a great park minutes from home.

Trails run…read morethroughout the park and one of the paths (the main one I suppose) has white trail markers indicating in what direction to proceed to stay on the trail at forks in the trail. We didn't realize these were trail markers until towards the end of our walk today... we ended up going in the reverse direction around the trails. Runners, dog walkers, children in camp, and walkers abounded this morning. Along one of the trails there are restoration in progress areas where one can get involved in environmental stewardship if so inclined. Posted signs provide contact information on where to seek more information about this. The birds loved this portion of the trail and we heard a variety of different bird songs as we traversed this area. Wildflowers and plants in the park were beautiful and captivated my attention while exploring. On a more industrial note, there are big guns (I call them cannons) from the 1800s located by the playground. An essential stop if you want a fun photo-op and to learn a little bit of war history on your visit. My mom and I both enjoyed our visit today, Tuesday the 21st of July 2020, and found Hamlin Park a place we both are interested in revisiting. The parking lots didn't have many cars when we arrived around 9 a.m. but by the time we left, a little after 10 a.m., the parking lot we had parked in was about half full. The morning sun and cool air was very refreshing for a forecasted hot day.

I often bring food from Buddha Brothas and eat with my family and the park benches are mostly clean. What I appreciate about Log Boom is that there is usually a Lake Forest park patrol car parked in the parking lot in case there is an accident. I have gone to other parks and law enforcement is non existent. I once saw a forklift with keys by the park and let a dispatcher know. I'm very pleased by this park. Great views, convenient, and perfect for all ages.

Because I grew up here just down the street, and it is basically the park that makes me feel most at home. Yes, there are other parks in the area, but this one is the best. Let's discuss... there is a beach, there is a railroad bridge that is sketch as heck, but absolutely a blast of hot air (literally), because it's just a you, above the train, and a chainlink fence... so safe, probably, fun, absolutely. The beach, when the tide is out, is great tide pooling, lots of things to see, from little crabs, all sorts of starfish goodness. Up near the parking lots, there is a large field, and playgrounds. There are plenty of things for the kiddos to do, but the gem, is a concrete slide, in the shape of a salmon. Yes, a long time ago, there was a metal slide that ranks as the hottest things short of flying into the sun... when it was a sunny day. There are reservable picnic tables and prep areas with water... good stuff. Honestly, there are so many wonderful things about this park... did I mention the trails? There are lots of trails that have viewpoints. So recommend, yes.

A nice one-mile…read moretwisty-turny rally course track, so if you are not familiar with hairpin turns, keep your speed way down. A lot of popular Piper Creek trails to follow that make you feel like you are over the water at Olympic National Park--here is the ONLY deciduous rain forest in the entire Northern Hemisphere. Beautiful. Enjoy hundreds of species of birds here, marked trails and a mile-long beach with Golden Gardens to the south and the Highlands to the North. There is a large play area here some 30,000 feet for the kids and small barbeques, and a bench looking out over Puget Sound. If you want to get a birds-eye view of the trains passing by, if you aren't acrophobic, you can walk over to the overpass bridge with it's see-through deckplating that puts you literally right on top. The bridge leads another forty steps down to the beach area which is just as beautiful as Golden Gardens. Lots of driftwood and shiny things for the kids to collect, shells and the like. And a few beer and soda tops from decades past.

Hidden Lake belongs to the ducks. Even Schatzi the Münsterländer, a hunting dog we trained for use…read morein duck hunting, doesn't go after the ducks here. One day a duck flew over the lake, then in front of us, twisting in midair so its feet faced us then flew back to the lake and landed as if to say, hey I'm not afraid of you two. Schatzi just looked at me and was mildly amused by the duck, she looked more interested in going swimming. The lake has been closed to swimming and wading for a while due to pollution issues, so keep that in mind when visiting. Trails from Shoreview Park, from Boeing Creek Park, and Innis Arden Way are the easiest way to access Hidden Lake. If you are a bird air access might be easiest and if you are a salmon water access from Boeing Creek may be the easiest. During the Spring and Summer it is especially fun to come here and look for ducks and their babies. My mom and I have been standing on the shore and had a bunch of ducklings and adult ducks invade the beach as we were standing there. Duck and duckling diving sessions are captivating to watch. Odd creatures also abound here... I once saw what might have been a baby Sasquatch. I have found traffic to the lake to be heavier in the early evenings and during the summer months when middle schoolers and high schoolers frequent the lake and surrounding parks. When I run at Shoreview Park I enjoy tacking on a cool down to Hidden Lake to look for critters in the mornings and evenings.

They've added to this place since I came here with my dogs last summer. There are now benches…read morescattered throughout the trail so that you can sit and enjoy the beauty of nature. It's a nice place to get your hiking fix. Before this place was only about .5 miles long, now it's more than doubled in size. There's some steep climbs, but nothing overwhelming. They still haven't added much for views of the wetlands or creek running through, aside from the small little bit you get at the head of the trail. My dogs loved it here. They provide waste bags and there's trash and recycle also at the head of the trail.

Beware of coyotes. We have seen very "healthy" ones this year. Parking and restroom for a few cars.read more
