After the gas line was turned on, a gas leak occurred, requiring PECO to replace parts on the gas meter. Based on the PECO technicians' experience, they indicated that opening a gas valve too quickly can sometimes contribute to a gas leak. On the other hand, DiBiase explained that, in their view, the issue was not related to how the gas was turned back on but rather to the age of the PECO meter, which they believe would have failed regardless. To the company's credit, they discussed the situation with me and provided an additional year of free maintenance. While I appreciate their response and the added maintenance, I'm not convinced the installation wasn't a contributing factor. I hope they review their installation procedures to help prevent this type of issue from happening to future customers.

Very bad quality. They spray foamed my basement. The contract quoted a 2" layer of spray foam--see…read morethe pictures. We were lucky if 1" was installed anywhere in the basement. There were also drips, if there was a wire across an area the guys didn't move the wire, there was just a wire shaped gap behind it. Shabby job. I would not recommend. They were the lowest priced for a reason.

We also wanted an an estimate for a new humidifier, to change out the lavatory handles that had been installed backwards, replace a utility room faucet, and to do a general inspection of all the plumbing In our house. We have plans to add a new bathroom to our unfinished basement and he had good advice about that. The humidifier went in without a hitch! The handles on the lavatories were changed without a problem! The new utility sink faucet that was installed was a dream! My lavatory leaks though...these had to be tinkered wIth several times., on several different days. You are thinking, WHY FIVE STARS???? This is why! Our plumber came out several times, in a very timely manner, to make things right. He could have easily told us that this was a worse repair than what it was. He was unfailingly polite, and optimistic and got the leak problem solved. Everyone that I've talked to or dealt with at Mattioni Plumbing has been very profesdional and helpful. Chip was here about an hour after our call, even though I let him know any day this week would've been fine but we appreciated the prompt service. The job itself was quite a challenge, the bottle was jammed in the trap of the toilet so after the toilet was removed and flipped over, it still took about an hour of perseverance to twist and break the bottle until it was able to be pulled out. It says something that Chip stuck with it and didn't just try to up-sell us to a new toilet install. Price was relatively reasonable so we didn't have any complaints there, no sticker shock. We'd definitely recommend Progress plumbing!

We got…read more7 estimates, ranging from companies that advertise on KYW and the back of SEPTA buses to smaller one man shops. We ended up selecting King HVAC and I'm really glad that we did. He offered us a modulating furnace and A/C for the same price as what another big player offered (they were selling a 2 stage system). His warranty was also beyond the standard 10/1, it was 13 years parts, 3 years labor. He sells Bryant, which is the same thing as Carrier. Wifi thermostat, he's running new gas lines for us, the whole thing. He's very professional and carried a book with him that included photos of his install. He pointed out where he would put the condensation sensors, how he would route the lineset, the whole thing.. which impressed me. He's also very accessible over the phone and pretty responsive over e-mail. Joe and his Dad spent a day and a half installing the system and were just awesome. Finally, two or three years later, we had a problem after a thunderstorm where the AC wouldn't run. I called him and he was able to swing by with only a few hours notice on a Sunday. He found that one of the circuit breakers was reset or maybe bad. He just flipped it back on and stuck around for a few minutes to make sure it was all good. Best part? No charge and he was here for probably a half hour on a Sunday. You can see the difference between a small operation like Joe and a larger place that advertises everywhere. The real value is in supporting a small business and you're rewarded with great customer service compared to the big, nameless companies.

They were on time, checked out the AC, added coolant and then took a quick peek at the furnace. They said both look good for the age (17 years) and should be good for a while. I had questions about rebates for heat pumps and he had answers about rebates, rough costs and advantages of the new heat pumps. He reiterated that we didn't need to change out our current equipment but if we feel it's important for environmental reasons there are good options. We'll definitely be using them going forward, and have a fall furnace checkup scheduled.

On the first cold day this winter he claims the heater is all rusted out in the exchanger and has to be replaced, along with the entire system because a new heater can't work with an old air conditioner. Our neighbor suggested we call their guy. He's been in business for 30 years. Needless to say, the heater was not rusted he showed me the unit was very dirty, the fan motor and wheel were clogged with dirt and there were two dead birds in the chimney. The outside air conditioner was only 10 years old. I'm convinced SK had never done anything other than collect their fee and try to sell stuff we didn't want or need.
