The Personnel People responded to me promptly and called me in for a meeting so that I could take all my documentation in and register with them. I met one of their consultants, Lauren, who was friendly, genuine and helpful. She is keeping an eye out for suitable roles for me, and again I'm welcome to get back in touch with her to catch up on how things are going. In complete contrast with some experiences of recruitment companies in Norwich. I would recommend The Personnel People. I have found them to offer a friendly, personal service so far.

I was on the books for temporary and full time assignments. The girl that handled both my sign up and contracting, was smart, polite and interested in the things I could do. She worked hard to get the best rate and asked what I needed to earn. A simple phonecall first thing in the morning, meant that we got to know each other fairly well. This was good for me and good for Blue Arrow as it meant work placements were frequent. They cover a good mix of skills, from general admin and office work to kitchen and factory jobs. All in all, I'd say a good way to keep the money coming in, without losing your self-worth.

They then realised that I have shorthand skills and asked me to take down and read back a dictated passage. I did have to call them to see if there were any new assignments but I expected to do that anyway. Was shortlisted several times for various jobs and got the job I'm currently in through them. Infact I have used them for temps in my current role for cover when on holiday. Nearest parking is the meter bays on Queens Street - the initial impression you get by the door and the stairs isn't overally inspiring but I have found them to be very good.

It wasn't too imposing, nor was it comfortable. It got a lot better when I met the consultant herself - a lovely older lady with a real interest in what you could do. She assessed my character, gave a couple of job options I should consider and then shook my hand and said she'd be in touch. That, ladies and gentlemen, was 2 years ago. Now call me stubborn, but after the first 2 calls, I gave up. I've never heard from them again. I find it incredible that they list awards for their talents, because it can't be too tricky to place a graduate with a shed-load of experience. One last comment - just 4 months ago a colleague of mine came in to work and burst into floods of tears. Why? She'd just been to see them and was, as she put it, 'utterly humiliated and made to feel stupid'. Not good is it?! Just 2 of my own experiences but rather telling.

Everything about the company showed professionalism and care and attention to detail. I was made tea and awaited my consultant. What a lovely girl! Interested, funny and thorough in her preparation for my upcoming interview. It's a bit of a shame that after that interview, the care faltered. It can be difficult to get through to a consultant - and though I understand that decisions take time, a quick 'nothing yet' every other day shouldn't be too tricky. That apart, a lovely company, good ethics and a nice variety of work placements. Well worth a call.

On registering for the premium service at http://www.cvtrumpet.co.uk , I was given a choice of recruiters that I wanted to target. I also selected recruiters by salary, location and the level that they recruit at (such as management or director). This was easy to do as the registration page contains boxes that you tick. The day after I registered, my CV was sent out to recruiters that matched my selections. I had several emails and phone calls from recruiters over the next few days. I had my first interview a week later. The service took me about 4 minutes to use. My one email to them was answered at the start of the next business day. The service got me results quickly and I would recommend.
