And if they don't stock something you need, they'll order it for you or point you in the right direction. Alan, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful if I have questions or need advice. When I came in last year wanting to restore my vintage kit, I had no idea where to start, and Alan helped me through the entire process, from cleaning, de-rusting, to finding missing parts. Whenever I have a problem with my kit or something breaks, I always go to Alan first (it's a good idea to call the store to see when he's working!) Often he'll find a way to fix it without having to purchase new parts. Definitely recommend this gem over bigger places like Guitar Center.

The store has some real depth in a few brands, and tends toward higher end electrics and more modest acoustics. A fair number of small amps, tending to be low-end, but including some nice busking amps is on hand. They'll be happy to let you try whatever you'd like, I'm sure, but..... No Stairway.

I brought my own strings and the guy had no clue how to fix the instrument and wasted my time trying to. He then suggested I should learn guitar and wanted me to sign up for guitar lessons. No thanks, I'm good. He then rips out his guitar and starts playing "guess what song I'm playing" and when he forgets the lyrics, I supply them. What the fuck am I doing here? Did I sign up for an open mic show? Is this guy tripping? As an added bonus, they ask all kinds of personal questions as you try to figure out your easiest escape. There is a guy out front that keeps on walking back and forth in front of the store. This is creepy. They push the guitar lessons again and find a way to insult me, maybe because I don't want to take his guitar lessons? Then he gives me his number so I can be sure to call to sign up for the lessons. With you? Are you out of your mind? Yes, you are out of your mind. And I know the safest thing for me to do with someone like that, is not to get angry, just humor him and GTF outta there asap. Longer than I thought it would take, but I'm still here living to tell the tale. And I won't be back.

I called one Friday morning at about 11:00 AM and explained to him what type of piano I was looking for. By 3:00 PM that day, he had assembled the piano at his studio, delivered it, and set it up - all for about the price on Amazon. I have never experienced such extraordinary service. I went to Music Go Round after several unsatisfying trips to the big box guitar centers. I wanted to buy a guitar but have some problems with my shoulder and needed help selecting a size and style I could use comfortably. I got no help from the big box stores. I walked into Music Go Round and was immediately greeted by a friendly guy named Jeff. I explained my problem and Jeff showed me a variety of styles and sizes. When he saw how uncomfortable I was, he showed me how to hold the guitar like I was playing classical and it was a revelation. It took all the pressure off my shoulder. He brought me a variety of guitars without trying to upsell at all and I landed on a beautiful Alvarez Parlor size with all Mahagony top, sides and bottom. This guitar new at Guitar stores is selling for $1,100. I bought this slightly used guitar for 1/3 that cost. And, to top it off, the store has a wonderful dog walking around. So, if you want personal service, no pressure sales, and a great bargain on a great guitar--I would stop here. At least that was my experience.

I have had hit or miss experiences with this place. They have a great variety of guitars most of…read morethe time but the staff is sometimes sort of aloof. Perhaps they don't even realize it. I can't say they actively discourage me in any way. It's just that some of them have a hard time feigning interest. Maybe I'm just not a cool person. I dunno. Some other places have no trouble treating me like I matter, so perhaps it isn't just me. Perhaps I have been encountering an employee who doesn't like his job. Regardless, I keep coming in to see their incredibly good, constantly-rotating inventory. One time, I even sold an amp for them just by being myself, playing some pretty tunes on a nice little setup. A nice older gentleman walked up and complimented the sound I was getting then politely asked if he could buy the amp. We had a wonderful talk and then he bought it while I walked out the door. That made me feel GOOD. That experience has sustained me over a few of the more negative experiences with aforementioned aloof employee.
