It would have taken less time but both he and I had prior commitments which added 1-2 weeks to the project. He offered an initial free phone consultation to answer any questions and further explain the advantages of a Living Trust vs. a simple Will. After I signed the Attorney-Client Retainer Agreement, I was sent Estate Planning Worksheets which Kevin used to create a draft of my Living Trust. He and I reviewed the draft over the phone and once I approved the final document, we were ready to schedule a signing meeting. I left the meeting with an Estate Planning Binder which contained all the signed documents and many additional helpful tabs such as "Funding Instructions", "Memorial Instructions", etc. I would strongly recommend Kevin Szotkowski if you are considering creating a Will or a Living Trust. Ms. Caffaratti represented my abuser in court proceedings. In that role, motions were filed that…read moreresulted in protective orders being dropped and required continued interaction with my abuser. Those outcomes were extremely harmful and retraumatizing for me. As a survivor of severe domestic violence, I have suffered life-altering physical injuries, including a double mastectomy due to blunt force trauma, removal of a significant portion of my chest cavity, and years of physical therapy related to neck injuries and nodules resulting from repeated strangulation. The legal outcomes in this case directly impacted my sense of safety while I was still coping with these serious medical consequences. I was 8 month pregnant when Ms. Caffaratti began assisting my domestic abuser. Based on my experience, I believe this advocacy showed a willingness to push ethical boundaries without adequate consideration for the real-world impact on survivors of abuse. This review reflects my perspective as someone directly affected by those legal actions.

We were introduced to Luke via the Nevada Attorney General's Office of Military Legal Assistance (OMLA) as my husband is a veteran and qualified for free legal services. Luke expresses his patriotism by offering pro bono services to the military. (If you are interested in this service, the request must go through the OMLA - 775-687-2140 or nvagomla@ag.nv.gov). Our experience with Luke and his staff was excellent from start to finish. He impressed us with his integrity, honesty, and professionalism, while being very personable and relatable. He kept us informed throughout the process with just the right number of emails and follow up. He really took the time to get to know us so he could prepare our estate with our wishes clearly defined. The process took two appointments. The first was to go over what the estate would include (the will, power of attorney, durable power of attorney for health care, memorial instructions, personal effects, etc.) and to go over the details on the worksheet he had provided for us to complete before the meeting. The second appointment was to go over the completed will and other documents in detail, making a few alterations, and signing. When it was finished, he presented it to us in a beautiful green binder. In addition to the estate planning, he enrolled us at no charge for the first year in a cloud-based service which will store our documents and be available to those we designate should something happen to both my husband and me. He also registered us with Nevada Lockbox, which is an advanced directive registry for medical concerns. If you need an attorney for estate, tax, asset protection and/or business planning, or estate administration, Luke Welmerink, Esq., and his team should be on your short list of law practices to contact.
