It would have taken less time but both he and I had prior commitments which added 1-2 weeks to the project. He offered an initial free phone consultation to answer any questions and further explain the advantages of a Living Trust vs. a simple Will. After I signed the Attorney-Client Retainer Agreement, I was sent Estate Planning Worksheets which Kevin used to create a draft of my Living Trust. He and I reviewed the draft over the phone and once I approved the final document, we were ready to schedule a signing meeting. I left the meeting with an Estate Planning Binder which contained all the signed documents and many additional helpful tabs such as "Funding Instructions", "Memorial Instructions", etc. I would strongly recommend Kevin Szotkowski if you are considering creating a Will or a Living Trust. He is knowledgeable, easy to work with, and his price was comparable or less than other offices I contacted.

Ms. Caffaratti represented my abuser in court proceedings. In that role, motions were filed that…read moreresulted in protective orders being dropped and required continued interaction with my abuser. Those outcomes were extremely harmful and retraumatizing for me. As a survivor of severe domestic violence, I have suffered life-altering physical injuries, including a double mastectomy due to blunt force trauma, removal of a significant portion of my chest cavity, and years of physical therapy related to neck injuries and nodules resulting from repeated strangulation. The legal outcomes in this case directly impacted my sense of safety while I was still coping with these serious medical consequences. I was 8 month pregnant when Ms. Caffaratti began assisting my domestic abuser. Based on my experience, I believe this advocacy showed a willingness to push ethical boundaries without adequate consideration for the real-world impact on survivors of abuse. This review reflects my perspective as someone directly affected by those legal actions.

I never heard back (from today it has been 5 weeks since my email submission). Shown in the screenshots. Well, after an incident with my child and his father occurring over this weekend, I urgently need an attorney now and so I decided to call. Upon calling, I don't recall the receptionist's name. However, I stated that I was calling for an attorney and to retain Marilyn York asap. I told her that I had submitted an email via their website platform and never received a response and that was weeks ago. The receptionist replied back "no! That's impossible! I respond to each and every email submission." I responded that that's what happened but regardless I need an attorney asap and asked for the soonest time. After several questions, the receptionist then told me they're super busy and only taking clients that have a personal referral. I was not able to get in for a consultation because I don't have a referral. But their customer service is nearly nonexistent and they don't seem to treat people very kind. The screenshots will show both when I sent the email submission and the time stamp of the screenshot in the second picture and then again for my email search showing I never received a response and the time stamp in the second photo.

Only one motion was filed, and my case never even made it to court. Before our attorney-client relationship ended, I was informed that I would be receiving a refund for the unused portion of the flat fee (approximately $1,500). Unfortunately, I no longer have the email because it expired, but after that communication, my calls and messages went unanswered, and I never received the refund or any explanation. The most frustrating part wasn't the outcome of my case--it was the lack of communication and follow-through. Once they had my money, I felt completely ignored. If you're considering hiring this firm, make sure you get everything in writing, ask exactly how a flat fee is earned, and understand what happens if the representation ends before the work is completed.
