I would like to begin my review by sharing that this is the second time we have hired Abe Kurek as…read moreour home inspector. I left a glowing review during 2023. You can look it up under my name, Mary Savva. Although we decided against buying the home in 2023, we decided we would absolutely and unwaveringly use Abe as our inspector the next time. Fast forward 3 years later, we recently used Abe in June 2026. We had the pleasure of meeting his son Nick during our 2nd inspection. I really can't say enough about Abe. I find it difficult to top my 2023 review because it was so good. During our second experience with Abe, we had a different realtor. All I have to say is Abe is on your side. The jingle, "Nationwide is on your side" should be Abe's theme song except it would be, "Abe is on your side." I hate to sound cheesy, but when you are a first-time homebuyer, it's hard to relax and trust the process. Abe makes it easier to do that simply because he is loyal to you and only you. It's a huge relief to have someone with so much experience under their belt in your corner. It's also a relief to know you can have the same confidence in his son Nick. When you hire Abe, the relationship doesn't end with the home inspection. He fully prepares you to become a homeowner. He provides lists of referrals and lots of other useful information on his website such as what to look for during the final walk through. He assures you that you can reach out to him at any time- pre and post purchase. You feel like you are more than just a customer, you are now part of a family. Of course, the candy filled goody bag made especially for you helps a lot too during the inspection! Abe and Nick check every nook and cranny (crawlspaces, roofs, attics) They arrived on time and spent over 3 hours combing through the property. Abe uses his drone to check the roof. He even has a "back-up drone" just in case his high-tech drone fails for whatever reason. He is fully prepared for your inspection. He is able to explain complex issues clearly in layman's terms, or in our case, "first time home buyers" terms. He patiently answered our questions. His home inspection report is concise and easy to understand. This cannot be overstated. It includes a "Table of Contents" which makes everything easy to find. The report does not lack detail. It is well organized with very clear pictures. This helped us to negotiate repairs and buy in confidence. One of my best friends is currently house hunting. Her husband is a surgeon. She is worried that he might not be able to attend the home inspection. I immediately referred her to Abe and assured her that she would be in good hands. I explained she would have nothing to worry about if her husband could not attend. I highly recommend Abe & Nick Kurek to anyone buying a home in the area. They are professional, responsive and worth every penny! 5/5 stars.

When you try to close on a house moving swiftly is key. Nick understands this and does his best to accommodate your needs. I got an inspection appointment within two days and the inspection report on the same day as the inspection itself - this is just phenomenal! Nick has a vast experience in the construction business himself and is ever so kind to patiently answer all your questions or give valuable recommendations and maintenance suggestions. I cannot say enough good things about this skilled and pleasant inspector and started recommending his services to everyone in my family and neighborhood who might need a home inspection. Once again thank you Nick for a highly professional and reliable service and your patience in answering all my questions. (Will crosspost because such a good service deserves to be promoted).

Sven is simply the greatest home inspector that you can possibly hire. As first time home buyers,…read morewe had a decent idea of the home we wanted to purchase. Most home buyers spend maybe 30 minutes to an hour maybe 1.5 hours at a property. Sven invested four hours of his time at the property and found over 148 issues with a property that we thought was close to turnkey. He also offered a discount with our next inspection. It is hard to overstate how professional he is and how much he cares about his craft. You would be incredible lucky to work with Sven and his team. They are honest, thorough and will teach you so much about home inspection even if you've been through the process several times. It's important to know that there's a range in price for home inspectors, but you are indeed buying a home. Sven's prices are extraordinarily fair for what he offers. If it wasn't for his inspection effort on the home, we may have made a poor choice for our first home. RUN to work with Sven if you are in the home-buying process!

That kind of passion along with expertise is truly infectious - those four hours felt like they flew by. Would recommend their services without a single doubt in my mind! Thank you again

I had an inspection done years ago when I bought my first…read moresingle family home in this area. Should have known better than to go with a real estate agents recommendation. The reason they like inspectors like this is they are not deal killers and rubber stamp most houses they inspect. I dont review a lot on Yelp but since your home is likely your most expensive purchase I figured I would try to warn people of potential problems if you dont know what to look for. 1) Demand they take the covers off the boiler or furnace & look inside. There could be cracks in the castings the inspector wont see..Granite did not do this. 2) A good inspector will have the potential buyer follow them around the house to explain & point out potential problems. This did not happen. It was more of a race to the finish. 3) If the house has a septic tank, demand that they at least open the cover. We ended up finding out the tank was completely deteriorated because it was steel which will rust after being in the ground for 40 years. 4) Was told sump pump was installed when the house was built. How would he know? Found not to be true since there was a document found after our closing that indicated foundation repair work only 10 years prior. I can say he did a Radon test in the basement with a laptop to display real time data so that was a positive. The lack of a detailed inspection resulted in a new boiler purchase, septic tank & fields, and a not to code vented chimney for the boiler. Those are big ticket fixes that we could have negotiated a lower purchase price for the house. If u ask would I hire him again? Not a chance. Dont be like myself & learn the hard way...Interview the inspector your going to hire & have them describe to you exactly what they plan to do.

If you're in need of a home inspection, look no further! Scott was extremely knowledgeable,…read morethorough, and went above and beyond. Not only did he conduct a detailed inspection, but he also took the time to explain how various systems in our home work, along with tips on how to use and maintain them. He provided valuable insights into potential improvements, clearly outlining what he thought was urgent versus what could be addressed as a future project. The report he provided was comprehensive, with detailed notes on the systems he reviewed. It's a resource we'll continue to reference as we maintain our home. The value of his service is outstanding--very reasonable for the level of detail and expertise he provides. To top it all off, Scott is incredibly friendly and made the entire process enjoyable. We couldn't recommend him more highly!

Guys who work/run this company are great. Almost every person involved was shady and underhanded, which is why Iucked out by having Chuck and Todd on my side. Todd did a great and thorough job inspecting the home. Because of the hoarder's clutter in the home, a dishonest seller and resentful tenants that would barely let us in, he wasn't able to inspect some aspects of the home, and Chuck volunteered to come back before closing if there was access and inspect the areas/things that were blocked on the original inspection (at no-charge). These are the most straightforward, on the level guys. Reasonable and on your side. The deal ended up going south, and the seller's agent/new buyers tried to pressure Chuck into giving them the inspection report and he immediately called to tell me, I would've never known, but he is so honest and legit--- he's that guy. This entire experience has been extraordinarily disheartening and if it wasn't for the great guys at above grade I would have 1) been doubly screwed over, and 2) lost all faith in humanity. Also, the phone support they provided me and going through the inspection report and talking through the process was beyond expectations. They are seriously great, we are still looking and without a doubt I'm going to be hiring them to inspect the next place.

He explained to us how extensive a fix each issue would be so we can then decide if the issue was worth it to resolve. At the end of the day he saved us a huge headache and most likely thousands of dollars on issues that would eventually turn what we thought was a dream home into a money pit. Thanks for schooling us Chuck. We will definitely be reaching out to you again when we think we've found our dream home.
