I'll start with the positive. The customer service was outstanding, and the staff was accommodating to our late arrival. I really wanted to like this place that appeared adorable from the outside. The buffet breakfast was good and offered a nice variety that will fill you up. However, beyond the staff, the inside of the cabin was scarey bad. We arrived late, starving and exhausted. The staff explained that we were upgraded to a larger cabin as she walked us to our cabin and gave us an overview. She explained that the front door does not lock from the outside and remains unlocked when you leave. Just seemed a bit odd to me. In a hurry to eat, we didn't view the cabin with her. Upon returning to the cabin, we learned that we were in the Mammoth Cabin, which was a very dated and dirty 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin that was way too big for the two of us. I can live with old fixtures and furniture, but I can't live with dirty and various insects. Ginormous black ants were dead and alive in the bathroom and entryway to the bathroom. A bumble bee was on the middle of the dirty living room floor. The worn couch had crumbs all over it, and the bed in the living room had a visible candy wrapper. I went to close the curtain, and the rod fell to the ground. It was too late at night to ask for another room, so we lysoled our space and cleaned up the bugs. If you get this cabin, I suggest you ask for another. They gave our room away, and I think we got the worst of what was left. To heat the cabin, you have to physically use wood and some type of stove oven. It got really cold in the middle of the night, and I was not about to learn how to heat up the cabin then. I was happy to leave this cabin and glad we only booked one day. read more

We stayed here for five nights and it was perfect. We stayed in the upper aspen cabin which was beautiful and always smelled great. We also did a horseback ride and our wrangler Jonah was so fun! Went out here for a horseback ride with my family. Firstly, they charged us for a person who could not join even though we called a day ahead saying that person wouldn't make it. They claimed that they could not reverse the charge and we'd taken up an extra space even though we saw dozens of horses still available. Second the ride is short and very slow paced. Even though we'd all ridden before, they treated us like we'd never seen a horse in our lives. The only reason they're getting two stars and not one is because the wranglers and tour guide are SUPER nice. The bogus charge and limited ride was frustrating. read more

We went for a 2 hr horseback ride last week while in west Yellowstone. We researched a ton of locations and felt this smaller more intimate ranch was a great fit for our first time horse family (minus dad who was experienced!) from arrival to the ride, our guide Kate did an amazing job keeping authority yet warmth throughout the trail to keep us and the horses safe. We loved that they separated us from another group so we had a more personal experience. She told us about the area, landscape and animals in the forest. The trail constantly changed and was interesting and we never felt bored or without something beautiful to experience. 2 hrs was perfect for my 8yr old and 12yr old boys. My youngest cried when we left bc he didn't want to leave his horse trip. I truly loved how engaging, fun, and authentic the entire experience was. What an absolute beautiful experience! Parade rest Ranch is so professional, and their horses are so well behaved. Everyone is such a delight to deal with the staff is knowledgeable kind and their guides are so great and entertaining. What I love about parade rest is such a personal experience, and the cost is more than reasonable! You are in the heart of Yellowstone, riding around Hebgen lake, amongst the Gallatin River and through the mountains. I really recommend going during the fall. Watching the leaves turn different colors makes the view that much more beautiful. what's really great about this company is you can make your experience as private as you would like or if you want to go with a group that's also an option. My friend and I booked a 9 AM one hour ride last week, we were lucky enough to have just the two of us and our guide. It was the best horseback riding experience I have ever had. We just returned home from a wonderful 4 night stay @ Parade Rest Ranch. We had an amazing time and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We loved riding with Xavier, Kate, Allena , Jo, Caroline. Hannah, Callie and Callum were so welcoming with anything we needed and became friends with us during our stay. We did a 1 hour horseback ride and could not be happier. Our family of 4, 2 adults and 2 daughters ages 8 and 12 had a great time. Randomly picked this place from all of the horseback riding places outside the Yellowstone West Gate. We showed up a little before 10am for a 1 hour ride on the 4th or July. Great Service from start to finish. We booked over the phone. Walked to the corral and met our trail guide Lucy who was fantastic with the kids. We had zero experience riding horse and our 8 year old was very nervous and she really took the time to explain everything to us and build confidence in our daughters. Their was another guy, who I just cannot remember his name but he had an injured hand from roping calves, but he was awesome as well answering our questions. Everyone at the Parade Rest Ranch made us feel welcome and they took their time with us. The ride was beautiful in on July 4 with all the flowers in bloom. Just unbelievable. The horse my 8 year old was very gentle and both my daughters had non-stop smiles the entire ride. We rode though the hills and Lucy we full of encouragement for all the riders and pointing out stuff as we road. We will consider a longer stay her in the future. Our kids would love to ride horses again I am afraid any other place would be second best to this place. read more

Wanted a true ranch experience. The staff was warm, friendly and truly accommodating to our needs. The cabins were rustic, comfy and clean. The dining hall was a great surprise. The food was homestyle and delicious. We did the all inclusive package and that also includes horseback riding. This experience was over the top. The ranch hands were amazing, friendly and informative. They really made us feel comfortable and were great teachers. The rides were a spectacular display of Montana mountainsides, meadows and forest. We even took a trek up to a gorgeous hidden mountain lake. There were incredible views everywhere we looked. We stayed in the Gallatin Cabin, which was located right on the Grayling Creek. Almost literally it was so close! The interior was clean and had baseboard electric heat, although many of them use wood burning stoves to heat the cabin. The bathrooms are tight, but come with a ton of towels, plastic cups and bars of soap. Bring your own hair dryer! The mountain views from our cabin was beautiful. Parade Rest leans more toward the primative side, so if you're looking for some cushy pampering, you may want to continue the search. The service was the star of Parade Rest Ranch. EVERYONE who worked there was friendly and loved to joke around. The same waitresses served breakfast in the dining hall every morning. Great place for beginner horse back riders. Came here on 8.30.18 for a 1 hour riding. Cost is $60 per person. We were the only ones signed up for the 130pm class and had Dan as our guide. Dan was awesome! Took us up hills and down the mountain and was a great guide. My kid is 13 and Autistic and she was able to ride the horse all by herself! The horses are calm and well feed and follow each other making for a smooth ride. This was one of our top things to do at Yellowstone. Thanks Dan! We will be back! read more

NOT ADA COMPLIANT! My husband is in a wheelchair so we asked for a wheelchair accessible cabin. The one we stayed at, called Yellowstone, was not. There were no steps leading up to the porch like the other cabins, but there was enough of a gap between the paving stones and the porch that made maneuvering the wheelchair up and down difficult. The doors to the rooms were not wide enough to accommodate the wheelchair either. The dining hall also had no ramp, so I would have to seat my husband on the bench outside, get his wheelchair inside, then help him up the steps. That said, the ranch itself is lovely. There are only a few cabins and the staff there is incredibly helpful. At night we could hear coyotes howling. The dining hall is not a typical continental breakfast...they have a full menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with boxed lunches available to take into the park. The horseback rides were lovely and you are isolated from any civilization. Pros: Great location away from the busy park hotels, near enough to the park and town to make it a simple drive, friendly and helpful staff. Food in the dining hall was quite tasty. Housekeeping service is available daily. Guest laundry on premises with detergent available in the office at a nominal cost. Ice machine is also available for guests. Cons: No kitchen in the cabin, which made storing cold items a challenge. I would suggest making some decor appropriate cabinets to hide mini fridges for the convenience of the guests. At least one cabin needs to be ADA compliant. read more

We were seeking out a true ranch vacation this year. My family (ages 6-73) have officially voted Parade Rest as the best vacation yet. The staff (office, dining hall, wagon driver, wranglers, etc) was welcoming and even very helpful in my planning of additional area activities for our group. I can't say enough about the calm, supportive demeanor of Emily, one of the wranglers. She was amazing with my oldest as he worked through his confidence for a longer ride. In fact, all of the wranglers/cowboys were great with everyone from my youngest to Gammy. The cabin was quaint, clean, perfectly sized for our family, and had the most beautiful view. If you picture a welcoming, family friendly actual Montana ranch vacation, i would definitely recommend Parade Rest. read more

The good: Very conveniently located to Yellowstone (15min). The people were very friendly. The food for the most part was very good, especially breakfast! The bad: Our cabin, advertised as on a bluff, overlooking the creek, pasture and stable, was actually a small hill maybe 5 ft. high, level to the pasture 50 ft. away. We could not see the creek. There was horse manure on the steps and all around the cabin and it smelled! We could not sit on the porch due to the odor. The wood burning stove was not venting properly and filled the cabin with smoke. I sat up very late 2 nights to let the embers die out and airing out the cabin, not feeling safe to go to bed. They tried to fix the stove, but there were still problems, so we used 2 electric heaters to stay warm in the 20 something degree weather. Oh yea, we also had a a little furry visitor in the walls squeaking and scratching about. Due to the cold weather we did not try the horseback riding, so I can't comment on that. If you're looking for very rustic and no frills this may be the right place for you. On a 1-10, I would rate it a 6. Not a do again for us. read more

Highlights included the mountaintop cookout with live music and cowboy poetry, horseback rides with the boys, and fly fishing on the Grayling Creek, which runs through the property. Our family really enjoyed our stay with Parade Rest Ranch. It was our first trip to Montana to see Yellowstone and we decided to stay at Parade Rest Ranch because it is only 15 minutes away from the park. The Homestead cabin was perfect for a family of four, with 2 teenage girls. The ranch is located in Gallatin Forest. It was peaceful, relaxing and the scenery is breathtaking. When we first arrived to our cabin we were nervous because there was no TV, but it allowed the family to focus on each other playing card games and talking about everything. The staff was very nice, super helpful and they made all of us feel very welcome. We ate at the dining hall everyday and loved the food. Our morning conversation was the excitement of what each of us will eat for breakfast. We also enjoyed the 2 hour horseback riding. It was a great experience and something we will never forget. It was the perfect getaway from the daily hustle and bustle of city life. read more

My wife and I just spent 1+ week at Parade Rest Guest Ranch under their all-inclusive program. Horseback riding, food, and lodging are included in the price of less than $200 (even including gratuity) per person per day. The best part is the horseback riding (1, 2, or 4 hr rides) through their extensive woods, paths, and scenic trails. The second best feature is their ~10 min-proximity to the West entrance of the Yellowstone National Park. The food was very much in the style of "steak and potato" with premier artery clogging properties. We would have liked to find more green veggies prepared from the "wash-off-the-soil-first" stage rather than from the "ready-to-heat" plastic bags, but we found we were not the norm. The staff did go to a noticeable effort to procure fruit during the week. They have several log cabins in pretty, rustic, and pastoral settings. There lies a potential issue for some: several of their cabins are heated exclusively by a wood-burning potbelly stove. If you do not like the idea of waking up one or twice per night to add wood to this contraption, and smoky clothing, then remember to reserve a cabin that has a little less rustic approach to heat. Montana falls, even in early September can be cold. None of the cabins, that I noticed, have air conditioning. The staff and services are friendly, layback, and very informal. read more
