My daughter visited Greenland to pick up dinner for my husband. While waiting, she kindly asked the Greenland cashier for directions to the restroom. He directed her to Amana, which is connected. She asked the woman at the register about the bathroom and stated that she was originally in Greenland. The cashier lady didn't listen and quickly said the bathroom is only for customers. My daughter had to repeat that she was waiting for food in Greenland before the woman called someone to open the restroom. I completely respect businesses, especially small ones, not wanting non-patrons using their restrooms for a variety of reasons. But when she had already told you that she was coming from Greenland (and literally walked through the passageway), you should not have contested her request. My sister owns a law office locally, and I'm sure she wouldn't want someone to walk off the street to use her restroom. We understand the implications of this, but situational awareness is necessary. Think: Out of all of the nearby restaurants and gas stations, why would she choose Amana? Why wouldn't she enter through the front door of the grocery store? Why would she cut through another business to Amana just to go to the restroom? I could see if she came from the outside, but she was already in the establishment. I take issue with this because my husband is a frequent shopper at Amana, and our family loves Greenland's delicious meals. In some ways, they both remind my husband of home in Syria. Lesson: Don't assume everyone is coming off of the street, especially if they don't look like you. She should have apologized, but instead, she gave my daughter an explanation as to why she assumed. Assumptions don't work when someone is spending their hard-earned money. If anything, ask her if she planned on making a purchase or if she had done so already (i.e., Greenland). I am deeply disappointed. To send an additional message that this behavior will not be tolerated, we will have to cut ties with Amana.

You can receive weekly or biweekly shipments and you can customize the shipments to meet your likes and dietary needs. If you open an account on their website you can select produce that you do not want Raw Box to send you. (I hate mushrooms and eggplant so I made sure to select these items on my "do not send list".) Raw Box offers fruit, vegetable, or mixed boxes. They also offer a "juicing box" that contains fruits and vegetables that are good for juicing. All of the boxes come in three sizes: small, medium or large. A small box costs $35 and usually contains 10-13 items for 1-2 people. A medium sized box costs $45 and contains 14-17 items for 3-4 people. A large box is $55 and contains 18-22 items. I purchased the small vegetable box with my living social coupon. I had a bit of trouble using the website so I ended up calling Raw Box and placing my order over the phone. I was really pleased with my shipment. My small box did not seem small at all and contained a variety of tomatoes, sweet potatoes, yellow onion, parsley, carrots with tops, lettuce and kale. I haven't been at home much the past few weeks so I have not had the chance to order again (yet). I have used a similar service in the past and loved it, but I took a break from the service because the weekly shipments can get overwhelming. While it was fun to try new vegetables and recipes my husband and I had to be careful about checking our orders online each week to make sure we weren't receiving the same items each week.
