I knew nothing about it at the time, so I wasn't surprised later when I checked Yelp and saw how consistently praised it is. The restaurant sits directly across from the stunning Baroque San Luis de los Franceses (18th century). From the moment I walked in to ask about the menu and timing, the team was incredibly welcoming and patient, carefully explaining how everything works. We took a short walk to explore the neighborhood, got lost on the way back, and somehow found our way back just in time before the restaurant closing. Despite that, the staff remained warm and accommodating, especially when helping us navigate the wine and jerez selections. I was too tired and out of practice with my Spanish, so I reluctantly switched to English, and it was still completely fine. The food was outstanding, exactly as everyone says. There are no substitutions, and once you've eaten there, you understand why! Everything is intentional. They go out of their way to accommodate you within their philosophy and to make the whole "slow food" experience feel thoughtful, relaxed, and special.

Tata Pila is quite close to one of the bus stations that gets you to Granada (the Estacion plaza de Armas).  This is a Spanish restaurant with a French twist with a fantastic ambiance (and with really cool bathrooms - seriously, they even have a hashtag #tatapilatoilette). They had Spanish menus without English, but the server spoke some English.  There were able to accommodate gluten free, pescatarian and vegetarian.  I had the lechuga entera a la parrilla, which is apparently a local dish of an entire head of grilled lettuce with candied scallions, peppers, grilled and smoked cod.  It was pretty good, but that's a lot of lettuce!  My friend had the Merluza, which is hake with vichyssoise sauce and chanterelle mushrooms, she said it was her favorite meal so far. One person got the appetizer, croquettes del chef, and said they were amazing, just wish he had ordered more.

The food was amazing and the waitress was very happy to describe every dish to us in English. We had the ensaladilla, garbanzo beans, egg in mashed potatoes with truffle oil, salted rice and wild boar taco. We ended dinner with Sexy Chocolate. Add in an amazing wine and beer menu in a quaint off the beaten path location and you have the makings for a dinner I won't soon forget. And...less than 40 Euros. If you are American in Seville, please go try this restaurant. You'll be talking about it for a long time!

There was a minimal wait and we were seated at one of the high tables. This was tough for our child as the high chair did not reach very high. Our older one was able to sit on the chair regularly but it was a precarious situation. The server was very attentive and we ordered off of their english menu which was a bunch of index cards with a hole punch and looped together. This place offers lots of healthy entrees. One of favorite (so much so that we ordered another portion) was the pork braised. It was so soft and tender and the sauce delicately bold. Dessert was a visual appeal as we had the chocolate pudding.
