I don't think this place really needs another glowing review, but here I am. I stumbled upon it…read morecompletely by chance on the first day of the arrival, after a long drive, simply because it was close to where I stayed. I knew nothing about it at the time, so I wasn't surprised later when I checked Yelp and saw how consistently praised it is. The restaurant sits directly across from the stunning Baroque San Luis de los Franceses (18th century). From the moment I walked in to ask about the menu and timing, the team was incredibly welcoming and patient, carefully explaining how everything works. We took a short walk to explore the neighborhood, got lost on the way back, and somehow found our way back just in time before the restaurant closing. Despite that, the staff remained warm and accommodating, especially when helping us navigate the wine and jerez selections. I was too tired and out of practice with my Spanish, so I reluctantly switched to English, and it was still completely fine. The food was outstanding, exactly as everyone says. There are no substitutions, and once you've eaten there, you understand why! Everything is intentional. They go out of their way to accommodate you within their philosophy and to make the whole "slow food" experience feel thoughtful, relaxed, and special.

Along with the gracious chefs, owner and servers, our 'happen-by lunch' was a memorable one, indeed! Carole Bumpus, Author of Culinary Travel series, Savoring the Olde Ways.

*NOTE* If anyone experiences such rude behaviour please do not hesitate to ask for the papel de…read morereclamación form. You can request this form even if you are a tourist. Horrible service from a condescending and misgonystic waiter. We asked to have only a coffee and sat outside to enjoy the street live musicians. At the end the waiter constantly made condescending nasty remarks how we spent only 4 euros and not enough money to sit at his tables. He continued telling us that we are just American woman on vacation in Málaga. Then pushed my friend on her shoulder and yelled at us to get out of his restaurant. He continued to yell at us as we walked down the street. We were disgusted and immediately told the police nearby who accompanied us to the restaurant to help us file a formal complaint with the city hall. Of course with the presence of the police he was respectful and polite only to the police. But he continued to make nasty comments about women and the police had to ask him to sit quietly as we filed a formal complaint. He didn't stop and told me good luck filling out the form because it's not in English! LoL We all know how Americans are so uneducated right? The police spoke no English so how did I explain the situation... Maybe this silly American is studying Spanish in Spain?? Nah we are just uneducated American tourists. I strongly do not recommend this establishment and hope no one has to suffer this behavior for buying a coffee and sitting outside for 40 minutes. If there was a minimum to sit down he could have told us and we would have made a decision to stay or leave. Many cities with restaurants in prime locations make there expectations clear and we respect that. But it's not acceptable to treat people like second class for not spending enough. Stay away.

It's right by the Picasso museum. The foie gras were tasty. Tuna had very interesting and diverse flavors. We also tried Choucroute which had a ton of meat and close to a German dish because it's from east part of France. Dessert was amazing also - try the chocolate mousse and lemon cake. If you enjoy good quality food and have time. Try it out and you'll love it.
