Málaga, and Andalusia, is a surprising food desert. While we've loved the region -- Málaga, Grenada, Cordoba (but for the icy people), and Seville -- the food has been an overwhelming disappointment. Not lacking in fresh fish and lovely produce the cuisine is simple and often fried. Also tasteless as if salt is avoided to prevent any excess loss of bodily fluids in this intense heat. So to find a jewel of a restaurant like La Brujhada in the rough of bland eating is a special treat. Sheltered under the bougainvillea climbing the stone walls of the Picasso museum this restaurant offers a welcome menu of French and fusion French-Spanish delights. A lovely gambas with leeks, artichokes, and cilantro started off a meal that included fresh bream served with a tomato salsa. I concluded with a creme brûlée of lemon and thyme. Delicious. Find this spot if you enjoy more than fried crochettas, tapas and beer. read more
