Milliken Mills Recycling Depot - Good information

Tips: - Styrofoam is accepted at this recycling depot…read more - Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 9 am till 3 pm. It's closed on Sundays. On Father's Day, I visited my parents before I went out for brunch with friends (one was in town from Hong Kong). I saw that their TV was dead. It was as if the apocalypse had arrived at their home. My parents love watching TV. Channel 36 is all that matters, which is Fairchild TV. It's the Cantonese channel that they love. While I was out with friends, my dad got a new TV. It was huge. I'm not sure how he got it out of his vehicle's trunk and into the garage, but he did. I was heading back for Father's Day dinner. He needed help getting the TV into the house. I helped him carry it inside and onto a stand. I also hooked up their Rogers digital box and had to get Rogers to get the volume working on their Rogers channel changer. We had dinner. My dad quietly approached me afterwards and asked where he could dispose of the styrofoam that protected the new TV in its box. I said Milliken Mills Recycling Depot. I was here a while back with styrofoam and the place accepted it. I told my dad that it was behind the McDonald's that I enjoy frequenting on Wednesday mornings before I head to the office. I drew my dad a map, which has always been my thing. He likes that I do that as he's a map person. What's weird about this place? Its hours of operation. It's worse than banking hours! It's open from 9 am till 3 pm Monday through Saturday. There is at least one person on duty who is available to say yea or nay to your items to be recycled. My dad appreciated how resourceful I can be. The following day, he came here to dispose of the styrofoam. He told me a day after his experience that it was great. I'm glad that it's close by. The hours aren't great if you hold a day job. However, I'm happy that it's open on Saturdays. (208)

Never, ever, ever pay anyone to take your metal waste b/c there are people who pay YOU!…read more Lockdown, for me, meant a lot of decluttering. I have an area in my basement where I keep metal waste. Just household knickknacks, e-waste and decommissioned appliances I've set aside over the years b/c I know they don't belong in the garbage. ANYTHING that contains metal, this place will accept them. Things I had were: - USB phone charging cables - Old pots & pans - Broken small appliances ie. electric kettle, hairdryer, iron, rice cooker, hand mixer - Christmas lights from the 90's (lol) - Burnt out monitors x2 - Rusted rotors I'm all for recycling initiatives. If it doesn't break your back transporting the items then I think it's a simple chore to do to help the landfills. I've been to other metal recycling centers but many of them seem to pull numbers out of thin air which doesn't earn my trust. I found Triune through forums, read great reviews all around so I thought this time I'd give them a try. Location is right off of 401, super convenient. Nothing fancy. It is literally a junkyard. Piles of scrap metal all over the place. Dirt road (lol the guy behind me came in his sparkly clean Porsche, so yeah.. don't do that!) But as messy as the place may seem, they have a system in place, even a POS system (see receipt) which super impressed me! They took each item as it was, I received no judgement here, not like some places where they'll give you attitude for bringing in something small or low quality that's "not worth their time". I'm very pleased with their assistance and service. I will definitely come back to recycle here again. }} How-to: Drive to the end of the road, you'll see their sign. Upon arrival, park as close to the building as you can. Grab a shopping cart, load your items, and they'll help you move the cart up to the loading dock with a forklift. From there, they'll weigh items by category and you'll receive your payout. Easy. Receipt included. If you arrive and feel kinda lost, just flag down anyone who looks like they work there, they're real friendly and will tell you what to do. {{ Friendly reminder for e-waste }} Be sure to clear all sensitive information & personal data before bringing them in!

A week ago, my work laptop had issues with its keyboard: -…read moreThe letter p's cap came off and I couldn't put it back - The spacebar decided to stay pushed in permanently. I've only had this laptop for roughly 1.5 years. I have never experienced these issues before in my life. I guess the letter p stood for perturbed. The spacebar felt that spacing out was in order. I contacted IT. Sadly, my workplace in Mississauga has lost its in-person IT help centre. I did get a competent, nice tech from our Montreal office. This issue was considered an escalation in our IT world, even though I was still fine plugging in an old USB keyboard and using my laptop that way. To make a long story short, which has something to do with UPS, but not this store, I was supposed to get my laptop delivered on Monday. I was at home all day. I got a sticky note on my door saying that a delivery was attempted. i didn't hear any knock. The doorbell never rang. It was odd. I asked that my laptop be shipped to this store instead. It never happened. On Tuesday, after my dental appointment, I can home and saw the UPS driver at my door. I got my laptop. Yay! Such a weird experience with delivery. Anyway, I had to ship my defective laptop back to the Montreal office. I got a return label. I placed my laptop in the box, slapped the return label on it, and sealed the box. I then headed over to this store after my eye exam today. Yep, I cram in all my medical appointments in December. It's the season to use up my medical benefits... haha! This UPS store is in a plaza with Hollywood Cafe and my local CIBC branch. I had no problem backing into a parking spot steps away from this store and walking in. It was 10°C. The door was propped open. There were two folks in the store. A man that kept staring at me and the woman behind the counter. The latter greeted me. I said that I had an item with a return label. She scanned it. Done! She asked if I wanted a receipt either by text or e-mail. I went with the former. A few seconds later, I got it on my phone. I thanked her and walked out of the store. This store was roomy. I liked that you can get documents shredded, rent a mailbox, photocopy important documents, and have items packed and shipped. It's a nice store. It's funny that I had never noticed it until I needed to deal with my laptop issue. I'm glad that it's so close to home and was the perfect place to have my defective laptop returned to my company's IT department. (483)
