I have spent quite a bit of time in Ash Blue, but today was different. I was greeted by a young teen that was a little bit too much. Not quite aggressive but too pushy. I was also was followed around the store by 2 employees to what appears to watch me for shoplifting. The entire time in the store I felt "watched" and not entirely welcome. I will try the store again, as I have picked up several gifts there in the past and have been pleased with everything I have purchased.

Tucked between the Broadway Honky-tonks, Nashville Gifts may not be honky-tonking the greatest price, however, their selection is impressive. For example, their t-shirts were over $20 and Nashville caps cost around $30. But to be honest, I saw that the only Downtown Walgreens charged similar prices for Nashville caps. As far as selection, I am a fan. They provide a grand array of gifts from t-shirts to place mats. As for me, I am a magnet collector, and purchased a Nashville magnet to add to my refrigerator collection. In hindsight I would've purchased a Nashville book mark. Just like a popular honky-tonk, Nashville Gifts was extraordinarily busy in similar style to Legends Gifts across the street. I am not a fan of crowds. On our last full day in Nashville when my Dad and Brother returned to pick up more souvenirs, I waited outside on Broadway taking in the horse drawn carriages with the AT&T Tower towering above the historic streetscape. Due to solid management, the long lines moved fast with good customer service that included the clerk wrapping up my magnet. That magnet with my pictures and yelps are my reminders of visiting Music City USA.

This place is like if a country singer, an interior designer, and an old general store all decided to start a lifestyle brand together. There's leather, linen, and probably something made from reclaimed barn wood -- all tastefully arranged to make you wish your house looked like this. They are absolutely wonderful and will do everything they can to make sure you are happy. I did most of my wedding registry here, as do most Nashville people I know, and love all the beautiful and unique pieces I chose. Samantha and Ashley Richter are great, as is Jill who helped my mother and I the last couple of times we visited. I live in New York City, so I have to have things shipped, which they are happy to do. Also, I don't make it into town often, and they are very flexible about exchanges. You get a year to exchange and use all your credit from the date of your wedding. Unlike other neighboring registry spots, they didn't bat an eyelash when I returned two items in May 2008 (a month before the deadline). I totally recommend them for your registry!

If you want to seem funny or thoughtful or clever or witty towards someone you love (or perhaps someone you want to love you), this is the place to go. I talked to the girl who was working there who showed me some options. We narrowed it down and she took down all of the information and told me that I would have a proof via email by that evening or Monday at the latest. I reminded her again that I was in a hurry to get them and she said they could get them done quickly, no problem. She also told me that they would cost about $2 - $2.25 each, which was perfect. I didn't hear from anyone so first thing Tuesday morning, I called and left a message. Layne returned my phone call and told me that the owner had tried to email me and had the wrong email address. (Hard to believe since I saw her write it down on Friday and they had my phone number as well...). She gave me the new quote for the invites which was now over $4 each- almost double what I was originally told. She asked for my approval to move ahead and CREATE a proof.... they hadn't even started. So, not only did everything about our original discussion change, but they had put me behind by almost 5 additional days. Luckily, I was able to get great invites on weddingpaperdivas.com and pay a rush fee to get them quickly. The sad thing is, the shop is very cute! I am in the period of life where I have all sorts of showers, parties, etc and I'm always in need of invites. However, I will take my business elsewhere and encourage my friends to do the same. They don't seem concerned about their customers or making right on their promises. I wasn't even offered an apology! Oh, and I got an email right after my phone conversation with Layne so I guess they did have my correct email address... Don't waste your time here.
