I came back the next day to ret an item that I believed I was charged incorrectly for because the price was far to expensive. I was told that was the correct price and that they only provide store credit. I explained that I am from out of town and store credit is useless for me. The woman was unwilling to make an exception after less than 24 hours and was extremely rude. There are countless gift stores in Bend who operate with sound business practice- this one does not! My family and I were doing some last minute Christmas shopping downtown and we were about to walk in when the lady working there immediately stopped us before even reaching the door and said "NO STROLLERS ARE ALLOWED" she was awfully rude when she said this and closed the door in front of our faces! We were so shocked we didn't know what to say. She missed out on sales today and I hope she changes her attitude so she won't miss out on future sales. I will definitely not be coming back again. I was excited to shop at this store as the store front was all ready for the holidays. I told my kids they could pick out an ornament and we were eager to browse through and find their favorite ones to purchase. We had just left another local shop on the same block where they were promoting their "Holiday Sale." We found some fun items and I smiled at the owner and asked if she too was having any holiday promotions. She snapped at me and irritably responded that she "NEVER puts her items on sale, you are obviously not from here!" She continued to angrily tell me how she just put the Christmas decor out and that I was being completely inappropriate to even ask about any sales. My kids sadly were witnesses to this outrageous outburst. Needless to say, I gathered my kids and walked out of the store without their ornaments they had so excitedly chosen. read more

Was very excited to check out this store, but upon entry was turned away due to limited store occupancy (COVID Regulations). I completely understand this, however the woman who told this to my party was 1) rather rude and 2) not wearing a mask herself. We were in Bend last month and visited this store and purchased 6 ceramic glasses. After returning home, we used them and put them in the dishwasher. The glaze washed off of 3 of the glasses. There was no notice or mention that they were not dishwasher safe. We contacted the shop, and they said that they would not replace them or refund our money. They said that they were vases, not cups. However, when we were in the shop, the clerk knew that we were looking for cups, and directed us to this product. The $12.50 each is not the issue. A merchant who sells defective merchandise and does not stand behind their product is a problem. Do not patronize this store in Bend OR. read more

Absolutely rude service here. My partner and I walked in and were browsing for Christmas gifts for family. As a jazzy, LOUD song came on and we started dancing along while browsing in the shop, the cashier stormed over to us and said "we limit the people in the store, so if you're not going to shop please leave." We had not finished browsing, we had full intentions of purchasing from this shop yet were interrupted and asked to leave for snapping our fingers to a loud song. If happiness is not allowed in this establishment, turn your music down or off. We were not loud or disruptive or rude. We hadn't even been in the establishment longer than 5 minutes. We were not loitering or being rude. I'm floored that someone would kick me out of a place because we laughed and snapped our fingers along to a song that the business is playing. I recently had a sad epiphany when I realized that my eyes had gotten so bad that my old reading glasses no longer helped. No big deal - I knew I could get some cute ones at Paper Jazz! I was so right. Not only were there some great ones on display in the strength that I needed, but there was a little sign that said that they had more they could show me. The saleslady was happy to help, and pulled out a box with lots of cute frames with the right strength (2.50!) lenses. Hopefully my eyes won't get much worse, since I think they only carry glasses up to 2.75! Besides reading glasses, Paper Jazz has great little gifts, wrapping supplies and the BEST selection of greeting cards anywhere. I always make sure to visit this store when I'm in Bend!!! read more

As much as I love supporting local businesses, I will not be shopping here. Ever. It's definitely tight quarters in the shop, which is fine. But because of that I didn't see the actual display I was looking for and was looking more at the bottom of the bookshelf (where they store extra cards). Not my brightest moment, but an honest mistake. Next thing I knew, one of the ladies working there was standing over me, giving me a super snotty look. She stood there just glaring for an awkwardly long time. Eventually I said something like "hi, how are you?" No answer, just more glaring. Then she finally asked what, specifically I was looking for and walked off. Staff might benefit from a class on customer service. I mean really, it's a card shop for crying out loud. I am a Papaya Art and Kellie Rae Roberts fan and I'm pretty sure Paper Jazz carries everything they make. Their selection of cards is amazing. Fabulous gifts for everyone -- family, friends, teachers, co-workers, etc. It's not just paper, it's also art, jewelry, tchotchkes, decorative items, and so much more. And Kim is amazing, she's clearly worked there for a long time, she knows the inventory, what she can get from suppliers and how long it will take, and she's super helpful when you need to buy a gift for someone you don't know well. I recently heard from a very dear friend, who absolutely loved your store, how horribly she was treated. Earlier in December, she bought a seasonal item, got it home and realized it did not work in her house. She immediately tried to return it the VERY NEXT day (LESS than 24 hours later), but the owner said that they have a no-return policy on seasonal items, and that it said so right on the receipt. My good friend got out her receipt and it said nothing of the sort on the receipt. No one mentioned when she bought it that it was non-returnable either. She was prepared to take store-credit and not get her money back. But the owner was NOT nice about it, had a chip on her shoulder about something and had to take it out on my good friend. She talked down to her saying several things such as, "this isn't a Target store where you can just return stuff!" (Did my friend look like a Target shopper and you didn't think she belonged in your store?) My friend feels strongly about supporting small businesses, but this owner REALLY soured her to this experience in Downtown Bend. I love that store too, but if the owner is the type of person that is in serious need of training on how to treat customers with respect and with professionalism, I'd rather take my business elsewhere. My friend is one of the nicest, MOST generous people. She loved your store and has bought SO much from you over the years. My friend was deeply hurt. She left your store feeling so upset from the way you belittled her and treated her. Not right, Paper Jazz! I am embarrassed for how you treated this devoted Paper Jazz customer who feels horrible about your store now. Shame on you! You give small businesses a bad reputation!!
