I had a question, but I overheard the woman placing a phone order for her lunch with very specific requirements. Blah, blah blah. From one call to the other, she didn't even take a break to see if the customers needed assistance. She never acknowledged or greeted me. I was interested in making a purchase but walked out instead. My daughter chose to celebrate her 13th birthday by paying $80 for a septum piercing at Island Republic in Bluffton, SC. During the appointment, she became uncomfortable with how the interaction was handled and decided she did not want to go through with the piercing. As a parent, I fully support her listening to her instincts in that situation. No service was ultimately performed. However, when she asked about a refund, she was told that none would be provided due to store policy. While I understand that businesses have policies in place, I believe there should be some consideration--especially when the client is a minor and the procedure was not completed. A store credit or the option to reschedule at a later time would have been a reasonable and customer-focused solution. Additionally, the response from the employee when my daughter expressed discomfort could have been handled with more professionalism and understanding. This experience left my daughter feeling upset on what should have been a special day. Store is tidy and arranged nicely. Owner is very friendly and sociable, ready to answer any questions and tell all she knows about the provenance of any piece. Items were eclectic and vintage. I grew up with true 100+yo antiques passed down over generations and was taught a lot about old things. I'm versed in 20thC vintage items from my own curiosity and collections over the years. The merch I saw at Rummage is fun and vintage (mostly 1990s to now on my visit). However, you never know what may end up here as a consignment shop, so it's always evolving. Prices were mostly on par with eBay if you include shipping. If there is a home decor item you need it is worth a look.
