What a pleasant surprise! I had expected a dirty, greasy place but was very pleased to see that it was exceptionally clean and there was one member of staff who seemed to be engaged in full-time cleaning duties of the restaurant. Our food was basic but very tasty, and there was some nutritional info on a leaflet given to us with the tray which again surprised me as it was nowhere as bad as I had expected - my entire meal had approx 600 calories. They also have a drive-in service which is very popular - we watched dozens of cars passing through while we ate. Although I never thought I'd say it, I would highly recommend stopping off here for a very cheap and cheerful lunch - it's a lot better than I expected!

The batter was bland and it was a bit alarming to watch how much vinegar and salt was added to the dish before it was served. The slab of fish was huge, however and you can easily feed 2 with the medium portion. Maybe the fish would have been better if I ate it right away. And you proceed to stare at the menu, panicking over the choices which you didn't think to make before getting to the counter. You can see Phleb is starting to get impatient and at the last minute you see the biggest picture on the board and tell Phleb in as confident a voice you can muster, I'll have the SuperAwesomeMcBurger meal. Of course the SuperAwesomeMcBurger meal is only available for three minutes a day on a wednesday, and even then you are only eligible to get it if you are wearing odd socks and a hat made out of fridge magnets. So invariably you leave with a Cheeseburger and a milkshake and go eat it in your car, while thinking all the while about the pizza that you only just remembered is in the bottom of the freezer. I'm not saying McDonald's is bad, I'm just saying it's McDonald's! Healthier options for kids include fruit bags, carrot sticks that can be in the happy meal instead of fries. The food is generally not too bad for this style of place but a word of advice, if you want something that you know will be fresh then always ask for your order either without something or with something extra. This applies to all McDonalds not just this one but be prepared for a longer wait as the food will be cooked/prepared for you while you wait. The cleanliness of the place varies depending on when you go in, which means that it seems to depend on which members of staff are in at the time. It's hard to remember that place like this are staffed with teenagers who wouldn't know one end of a mop from another and will actually wonder how a brush works (WTF was my reply to this). It's a typical fast food store that pays it's staff peanuts but expects them to work like slaves so don't expect the Ritz when you enter a McDonalds.
