It's my second year in a row visiting the Desert Gardens Annual International Rock, Gem and Mineral…read moreShow. This event runs throughout January and February. Last year, I came across the Happy Thai Food stand near the end of the day, so I was only able to get a Thai tea. This year, we made a point to look for it and was quite happy to find it pretty much in the same spot it was last year. The Little Gal was hungry and she ordered the Pineapple Thai Fried Rice with Fried Tofu for $13. She was being pretty greedy with it and wouldn't exactly share, but the Little Guy got to try it. Before we left, the Little Guy wanted his own Pineapple Thai Fried Rice for himself. The Husband wanted to try the Curry Oil Thai Fried Rice with Fried Tofu for $13. He said he preferred their Pineapple Thai Fried Rice instead. I was going to get the Green Curry but was warned it was really spicy. So I ended up with the Panang Curry with Fried Tofu for $15. Mine also had a slight kick to it. The curries don't come with rice, so you do need to pay extra for that. It's only $2 more and it's a generous portion. The curry itself is also very generous. I had plenty of leftovers. We also got Thai Iced Teas for $3/each. The gentlemen working the food stand are the nicest. They are always so appreciative for your visit and friendly. We'll probably head that way when we visit again next year. There are a couple of tables next to their tent if you want to eat there. If you walk a little further, you can find more tables within the shopping area.

Food: hard to rate something you can't get Customer Service:…read more2 stars Overall cleanliness: It's an outside place in a dusty town. It was as clean as it could be. 4 stars (an additional trash can would have been nice). Arrived at 11:55 to meet a friend. We waited a little less than 10 minutes to place our order. I ordered the 3-taco combo plate that comes with beans & rice. David asked if I wanted the queso with the birria & I declined. David said the rice was still going to be 15 minutes & he didn't know if it would be ready in time. I asked if the rice wasn't ready in time could I have double beans (yes). They give you chips & salsa when you order. Knowing they take a while (it is all hand-crafted & made to order) I ordered an additional order of chips & salsa to munch while we waited. I asked for a Coke or Pepsi & was told all they had was diet Coke or Fanta. I passed. My friend ordered chicken nachos with everything on them. I paid $33 (which included a couple extra bucks for a tip). We sit & started chatting. I realize it's been almost 15 minutes since we sat down & we still haven't had any chips & salsa (neither did the 3 people before us). Thinking maybe I didn't order any extra or maybe they don't give chips & salsa anymore I asked. "I know you're really busy with the food but did I order extra chips? Do we still get chips with our order?" Several orders of chips start coming out of the side window. I look for the salsa (last time you got red & green). Only green comes out. I asked about getting some red salsa & am told that they are out. I get given some pico de gallo instead. Disappointing but at least I got the pico. I notice that everyone else is taking the same amount of chips & salsa that I am. So I paid $4.99 for something that others are getting for free. I go to the window & ask for my money back for that. I'm told the "big chips & salsa come out with your food." I didn't want more chips with my meal; I wanted them to munch on while we waited. I'm handed a $5 bill. A few minutes later tacos come out the window & is handed to me. No rice, no beans. I notice that the birria taco has the queso on it (so I can't eat that one). My friend is still waiting for their nachos. It's 12:40, I've just barely gotten my food & not even all of it, & my friend is still waiting. I ask about the beans & rice. I'm told that the rice isn't ready yet. I scratch my head in confusion & say "I thought you told me it would be 15 minutes...30+ minutes ago." David "Yeah well I burnt the 1st batch because I was taking orders. Forget it I'll just give you your money back." I'm given a $20 bill. David can see my friend looking up at the window with an obvious question on their face "What? What do you need?" The nachos he originally ordered. We're told that when I asked for my money back for the extra chips & salsa I ordered the nachos got cancelled. How does one equal the other? An extra order of chips & salsa versus a plate of fully loaded chicken nachos. Those are not the same at all. I paid $33 & was given $25 back. I paid $8 for a small thing of chips, some pico de gallo, & 2 tacos, while my friend ate nothing. As I'm waiting on my food, several incorrect orders came out, they weren't able to fulfill another guest's order for cactus salad because it wasn't cut up yet, & an older gentleman who ordered his tacos to go got them in a plastic basket meant for here. He said "screw it" & got into his truck, basket & all, & drove off. The tiny bit of food that I did get & was able to eat was yummy. The customer service left a lot to be desired. My friend walked away without eating. I drove away at 12:57. It took an hour, & we never got what was ordered. The "managing partner" David Bisbee replied to my review on FB saying "all reviews are welcome" but then went on to say that "the live reporting of all other interactions, and sharing details of others guest experiences that are not accurate at all is just comical." I only reported on what I saw. I mentioned 2 other guests; there were several others there and I never mentioned anything about those interactions. Basically he's calling me a liar. I don't know what I lied about. *out of all soft drinks except Fanta and Diet Coke (truth, not a lie) *out of rice but would have it ready in about 15 minutes but was never ready (truth, not a lie) *out of red salsa (truth, not a lie) *the cactus wasn't cut up yet for the cactus salad (truth, I heard David say it himself, not a lie) *the older gentleman was given his "togo" food in a plastic basket for here (truth, I saw it with my own eyes). Feeling the need to basically call me a liar...WOW. I'm gobsmacked they are in business. 0/10 DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND

The house made horchata was tasty and so was the hibiscus tea. You order at the window and they call you to pick it up when it's ready. We sat on the cute little outdoor patio. David the owner was so welcoming and friendly and explained how they make the different items. We will definitely be going back.
