The drinks hit the spot, finding a seat was easy, and the break-away breadsticks were a flavorful way to kick things off. The pizza itself didn't quite land for our crew. We ordered the Butcher, and the sauce in particular wasn't our style. The prices ran a bit higher than we expected too. Nothing that dampened the outing, just not quite our thing. We're glad we gave it a shot, and if the drinks and appetizers are your scene, it's worth a stop. It may not make our regular rotation on future Okoboji trips, but every town deserves a first visit.

Extremely disappointing experience at Pizza Ranch today…read more At 2:08 PM, I paid for the buffet for my son and myself. My wife was meeting us there and arrived literally two minutes later, at 2:10 PM, only to be told the buffet was closed and that the food remaining on it was no longer considered good enough to serve. That raises a pretty obvious question - how was the buffet perfectly acceptable for me to purchase at 2:08 or eat from at 2:09, but somehow substandard at 2:10? If the buffet was effectively closing, that should have been clearly communicated before taking my money. At the very least, once my wife was refused access two minutes later, I should have been offered the opportunity to have my purchase refunded. I wasn't. This isn't really about two minutes. It's about basic communication, consistency, and customer service. We came in expecting to have a meal together as a family and instead were left with an experience that felt both unreasonable and completely avoidable. I won't be bringing my family back to this location, and unfortunately that will include the sports teams and groups we are involved with as well.
