The chicken pesto sandwich was good as well and came with fries on the side. However, the sesame seed pizza! WOW WOW WOW. Absolutely amazing and easily the most memorable item of the meal. Di Bari's - Matawan, NJ…read more I walked into Di Bari's for one thing: the bar pie. What I didn't expect was a full lineup of elevated, abundant, and reasonably priced dinner specials that turned my quick stop into a full-on feast. This place is absolutely not just a pizzeria. I started with the stuffed zucchini appetizer--so fresh and flavorful--and the pork osso buco, which was tender, comforting, and honestly restaurant-quality. From there I tasted the Tuscan haddock, the chicken balsamico, and the pappardelle... every single dish was delicious. Portions are generous too, so come hungry. I left stuffed in the best way. The bar pie? Amazing. Thin, crispy, full of flavor--exactly the kind of pie that deserves attention. Dave Portnoy, you need to get down to Matawan for this one. There is also an area for private gatherings. Another fun surprise: they carry L&B Spumoni by the quart and Nasto's gelato, which is such a treat to see on the menu. If you're in the area, definitely come for the bar pie--but stay for dinner. You'll love it just as much as I did.

Update ! I must…read moresay since my last review of Alternate Ending Beer Co. . The owner and Manager have personally reached out to rectify and discuss in further details shortly after not once but several times wanting to know not only what went wrong but who did we deal with and how they could resolve our opinion of their service and what we thought of them at whole. I am not one to be bribed , bought , begged , or have anyone twist my arm to get me to write a retraction on a review I write . I speak truthful and honestly when I write a review. I had no intention of ever going back to this place again. But as a business owner myself in the food industry. I have an understanding of sincerity and truthful, honesty, and a person . The Owners themselves sincerely appreciate their customers. They do not ever want to leave a bad taste or negative impression on anyone. If they have an opportunity to fix a problem they do and will go through all measures to fix a problem if it means keeping customers satisfied and happy. I was very surprised to see the swift action taken . Not just quick words used to pacify a customer to quickly respond and do a quick fix . The owners were not like that . The response was professional! Respectfully done and backed by professional action . I didn't rush back with my husband. But months later we decided to give it a chance . We did not give any warning we were coming back. We came in on a whim . Last minute decision. To our surprise we were pleasantly surprised to see they took our advice and our opinions seriously and we enjoyed our dinner. The service was excellent and definitely improved from our last visit. So much so this has become our weekly Monday night date night . We enjoy going to trivia night on Mondays . The staff who work at Alternate Ending now are better trained and are very friendly. The food is top notch . The trivia night is amazing, fun , a we look forward to it every Monday. The beer is top notch . The managers are always available for suggestions and feedback and if a problem should arise are ready to handle it immediately. I highly recommend coming here . Not many place take customers service as seriously as Alternate Ending did. We later on after several visits let the owner and manager know we came back and we were very happy to see the positive changes that were made and we were highly impressed with how much they appreciated their customers. Thank Alternate Ending for being such a great place to come to and for being professional and respectful enough to hear your customers and except complaints when they come and be proactive on them. Keep up the great work that you do . We are so happy we came back.

Yikes. Yikes, yikes, yikes. Never again. Firstly, it took them an hour to deliver the food when they are literally down the street from us (should have picked it up). Second, the wings were so TINY! Half the size of regular chicken wings. We were convinced they gave us Cornish Hen or something. The flavor of of the buffalo sauce was atrocious. Even the ranch sauce that came with it was bad! How can you mess up ranch dressing?! The pizza was lukewarm by the time it got delivered to us, and the toppings were flavorless. We got pepperoni, sausage and banana peppers. Couldn't taste any of it. We had to drown the pizza in our own seasonings to make it edible. And we were pretty sure we didn't order the thin crust pizza, because the dough we had was almost... I would have to say "deflated". Just gross. Sorry PJ, we gave you a shot. But we're sticking to Dominos and Pizza Hut. read more

If I didnt have Google Maps, I probably wouldn't have found this place. It's on Rte 9 you say? Yes, it is. Should be easy to find, right? Well, no. If you are on the Rte 9 Southbound side, you are on the correct side. But note, you CANNOT see this pizzeria from Rte 9. There are several restaurants and stores in front of it. It is in a back row of stores next to the Rte 9 Farmer's Market. (I didn't know this farmers market existed until today.) Due to location, I think Pronto may only be known to the locals and the patrons of the Farmer's Market. And that's a shame because the pies are excellent. I ordered one plain slice and one Sicilian slice. The plain was excellent. Abundant premium mozzarella cheese, tangy sauce and flavorful Italian seasonings make this a wonderfully tasty local slice that's worth your time. The outer crust and undercarriage were both crispy and delicious. There's just a slight limpness but the slice does stand at attention with a small fold of the outer crust which also prevents the toppings from sliding off. The Sicilian slice was even better. Great Sicilian flavor with all of the aforementioned attributes mske this slice a show stopper. No limpness at all. One notable observation is for Sicilian pizza it's not thick at all. But the flavor is so good, it's forgivable. The crust is extremely crispy and unlike any Sicilian crust I've sampled in this area. But dont let this stop you from ordering one or a dozen. With the odd location, this place is the very definition of a hidden gem. They have their own way of doing pizza here but it doesn't make the pizza any worse than its competitors. I'd recommend you give them shot to see for yourself. It is definitely worthy of your time and money.... if you can find it. Overall Rating : A

I decided to stay somewhat local and headed over to Vinnie's Pizza in East Brunswick, NJ. I've been to Vinnie's a few times since moving here with mixed results but i understand it's under new ownership. I ordered two large pies (I told ya the crew was hungry so don't judge )--- one plain and one pepperoni. The good: The sauce is plentiful. It's more of a sweet sauce than my preferred tangy style but it's seasoned perfectly. You taste the oregano and basil in each bite. The cheese is also plentiful and it is premium. The outer crust is a bit short on flavor but not bad enough to call it a deal breaker. It's only a little crispy and very moist on the inside. If you're thinking the lack of crispiness would cause the the slices to wilt, surprisingly you'd be incorrect. The slices stand up nicely! I folded the outer crust and there was no toppings sliding off and no oil drip. The bad: The policy they have here requires a 4% surcharge on all cards--- debit or credit. I've seen other places do this and it annoys me every time. Just build the 4% into the menu price and stop making me feel like you're nickel and diming me. Also, the pies could be cooked a few minutes longer to give the crust a crunchier texture. If you're local to East Brunswick, this place is worth a trip for a taste test. But I'm not sure this is what I'd call a destination pizzeria. Give it a shot--- you wont be disappointed. Overall Rating: B+
