Beware... apparently they don't accept $50 bills even though their sign says otherwise haha. Grammar isn't their worker's strongest suit??

Experience picking up the pizza was not the greatest.. I ordered 1 large pepperoni pizza (total was $27.63) and handed over a $50 bill. Please note, there was a sign on the register that stated "we do not accept bills larger than $50." The worker asks me if i have any smaller bills and said "no...?" I went back to my car to find EXACT cash change. Came back to go pay, another worker assisted and tells me "Oh sorry today we have special deals on the pizza. Your total will be $20." Flat $20? Hm... Filed a complaint with Papa John's. Never heard back from them. Hope they care about their customer's satisfaction? Maybe put up a sign that says "We do not accept $50 or $100 bills" Overall, Papa John's service was odd and pizza tasted mediocre. Me & my family rarely go out and order food, but decided that we wanted to have a pizza night. Pizza hut tasted way better. Only positive thing about it was their garlic butter lol...

Papa John's is located across American Savings Bank on Hamakua Drive. This location recently open. I became a fan of Papa John's when they opened up in Mapunapuna. Now that they have a location in Kailua where I live we decided to go. The service was very friendly. Ordered my pizza and got it in about 10 minutes. This I thought was fast since I saw only one worker. Ordered a 12 inch pepperoni, olive and mushroom pizza with light sauce. I asked if I had a choice of crust. Was told that the 12 in. came only with a garlic crust. Bottom line is it's not what I remembered. But it's nice to have another pizza option in Kailua.

Pizza. Nothing special. Good luck getting it in your hands though.

Ordered a pizza with an online special of 2x1 for Super Bowl Sunday party. Doordash driver shows up with one. We called Papa John's and they said yes, we have a special let us direct your call to the store. After a long conversation with the mgr, he agrees the online processing messed up and was going to refund our $. BUT he couldn't figure that out! So we asked for the second pizza and we'd pick it up. He sounded upset,"Which one do you want?? The refund or the pizza??" "Well, you can't figure out the refund so the only option left is the pizza! And we'll pick it up!" Two hours later, we get our second pizza. First pizza is cold, the game has started, we get charged the delivery fee AND they kept our 10% tip. The pizza was mediocre. Should've done Costco hot dogs.

FYI, No where to sit, pick up only. Pizza is fair but passable if you're hungry and don't want to go out or break the bank.

Nice to have Papa John's location in Kailua Town. Another choice for pizza when ordering.

Domino's Pizza - Large thin crust 1-topping, Italian sausage pizza

Of course, the price here in Hawaii is $10.99, but that's still a pretty good special. I used the app and got a pan crust large, with Italian sausage, onions, mushrooms, and extra cheese, along with couple of dipping sauces. The pizza is ready pretty quickly, I just wish the service at this location was, as well. The place is clean, and they have tables for dining, but it really looks like the majority of their business is takeout and delivery. They have 3 large video screens over the front counter, but none of them were on. I think they normally would display food products or food orders in the queue. I stood at the counter for over 5 minutes, while the 2 employed that I could see, just went along doing their business (one was cooking, while the other was prepping for a delivery), and never even acknowled me. The delivery guy walked by me twice without even looking at me. Finally, a third person came out of the back and came up to the counter to ask me if I was picking up an order. I gave him my name and he checked the warming tray at the front and grabbed my pizza (it had been ready for a while). At that point, I was out in less than a minute. I understand that they are probably sort-staffed, but any quick acknowledgement when I walk in would be nice. I know they need to do their job, but isn't serving the customer who's right in front of you, a priority? The pizza was good, anyway.

For a delivery less than 3 miles away from store it took over an hour and 10 minutes…read more Pizza was barely warm. When inquired about status all I got was 'We are short handed today" Frustrated, I advised I didn't want excuses, I wanted my already paid for pizza. Interesting to me how they take your money fast enough but don't provide minimal service. They don't reduce the price when service is poor. They should consider stop taking orders to provide service customers are paying for. If minimal service cannot be provided perhaps they should not be open for business.

Valentina's is in the parking lot of Tap & Barrel by Lanikai Brewing Company and their main food option. So if you're a beer fan, this is a great compliment to locally made styles of beer. The kitchen is in a trailer outside, and their food is available to go whether or not you're visiting the taproom. They have a bunch of different special options, with most featuring local ingredients. A highlight is the Bee's Knees with spicy honey, pepperoni, and pesto; rich but light. Their prices are reasonable for the quality; one pizza is the perfect size for two people, or more if you're looking for a snack. The staff is great, quick to serve. If you're enjoying the taproom, you can order with your server and they'll bring it to your table. Tap & Barrel has bar seating, high tops, booths, and my favorite outdoor tables to bring the furry friends and dine al fresco. If you love pizza and are looking for something different in the Kailua area, this one is recommended.

Both areas were not very friendly AND the process took such a long time! Maybe they were upset that we were not ordering beer! Felt uncomfortable. Pizza was bland and crust was too charred underneath. Cooks have to remember to brush/clean the oven after each pie that was baked. I appreciate a local business & I know how hard it is to own/run one in Hawai'i.

Fire Dance Pizza - My very favorite goat cheese and tomato pizza

Pizza in my opinion is something of a simple art and less of a fussy creation. Really good pizza…read moredoesn't need truffle oil or kobe beef, because it can lean on its simple quality of ingredients to pull in consumers, instead of wow them with trendy toppings. In my life, I have come across a handful of such standouts in crazy places such as France and Connecticut, and I can now confidently add to that list Hawaii. My husband and I found Fire Dance Pizza at our local farmers market on Sundays in Kailua, when the smell of sourdough wafted through the air around some fresh poi and produce. We bought a pizza, thinking nothing of it, and sat down to eat. Like the movie Ratatouille, each ingredient was like a musical instrument and the bites were like a song. This was not just pizza, this was something magical. The owners and operators start with a naturally fermented yeast dough, throw it into a super hot brick oven, and top its chewy goodness with freshly blistered cherry tomatoes, evoo, crushed garlic, and mozzarella, or goat cheese, and other simple but delicious items. Don't be thinking you're going to get stuffed crust, ranch dip, and canned olives, all these ingredients are fresh. After a few weekends of coming here every Sunday for what we have deemed our "breakfast pizza," we have made our decision that this is the perfect way to routinely celebrate the weekend. Prices are fair, between $12-16 per pizza, which is enough for the two of us to split, or one very hungry surfer. Talks of opening up a brick and mortar restaurant are in the works, and when that happens, you know we'll be there. With pizza like this available, you won't see me getting excited about pizza anywhere else on the island.

The taste was amazing and unlike any pizza I've had before. I'm not sure what it was (the seasoning, maybe?) but I loved it! The crust was a bit hard and burnt in some places, but didn't detract much from the overall quality of the pizza. It's definitely something you need to try at least once!
