My son sometimes has trouble focusing, so I've appreciated the way that the kids classes include and integrate younger instructors who turn around and learn to teach others, in addition to working on their own martial arts. The dojo can sometimes be a bit chaotic - especially with younger students - but I really have liked the way that there is a clearly thought out graduated level of difficulty. Younger kids will progress further before getting into kata, but as they get to appropriate age groups, they pause and need to "catch up" to the belt level with the things they weren't ready for before. This can feel "loose" and kind of sloppy at first, when your kid is testing into yellow belt and yet still sometimes lazy or inconsistent at form - at least it did to me - but having spent more time taking my son to classes, I understand a bit more the reason and intent behind operating this way. The kids stay engaged and motivated, and as they get older and learn more, they are still held to the same level. There's no easy path, its just a more motivating journey that's built to be age appropriate.

I arrived at the address listed online, 231 W 4th St Unit 202 at 12pm to an empty building under construction. I received a VM from Viridian owner confirming my appointment at 12 telling me I would be receiving an invoice with a cancellation fee if I did not show up. The nice people at the construction site helped point me in the right direction. I arrived at 12:45 PM. I showed the owner the address online, she shrugged it off and said the correct address should be in an email I didn't get. She was dismissive when I told her I only had 15 min remaining before I had to head back to Fort Collins. She did offer to stay longer but I only was given a 30 min extension from work. Since I couldn't stay for the full 30 minutes I booked she let me know I'd be getting an invoice for canceling the appointment. She looked me dead in the eye with no hesitation, didn't show any sign of compassion or empathy for my situation. I received her cancellation invoice before I even made it back to work.
