DCSR is a very good range to spend time with family learning firearm safety and marksmanship. What's exceptional about this place is it is ran by some really nice people. The business owner, the store staff and the RSO (range safety officers) will help you in any way. Just outstanding customer service. And no, this is not BS. Not to bash Atterbury Shooting Complex but they need to learn from Deer Creek staff in customer service. She is very attractive and I feel this was a pervy way to get close to her. Very weird man. I also heard him on the speaker phone with a customer inquiring about the range. The range was reasonably priced and well appointed. They have enough lanes so that the family with the big boom long guns were in the next room and not right next to the less experienced shooters with me, and it looked like they had a playroom for kids to stay occupied while parents were shopping or shooting. There were enough staff to handle several groups of customers for the shop and Range at once, and they were so friendly and welcoming to both their regulars and we out-of-towners. And the bathrooms were clean even though we were approaching closing time. So wash the lead off before you leave. The shop itself is large and spacious. Guess it makes space to feel out the long guns. But it feels like they plan to bring in more shelves and expand their selection. My family really appreciated the experience. It was nice to have an indoor range in a rainy day, but that it not feel corporate/industrial like the "big-box" ranges. Seems like a nice little locally-owned, veteran-run business.

At a recent clinic taught by Coach Maskell he was explaining 'the lead' to myself and another student. The other student was an engineer by trade so when Coach told us a particular presentation required about 4ft of lead, the engineer understood exactly what he meant, adjusted accordingly & saw immediate improvement. Unfortunately, I'm a lawyer and telling me a particular target needs 4ft of lead is like trying to explain quantum physics to an infant - it doesn't work. But Coach Maskell knew this about me & without missing a beat, explained it to me in a more visual way that made sense to me & sure enough, I started hitting that target (and haven't stopped since)! Every time I've worked with Coach Maskell I have been happy at my improvement at the end of the day. He's always positive & helps me fix any mistakes I make instead of simply pointing them out & not offering solutions (as many coaches I've taken classes from in the past have done). His credentials speak for themselves, but unless you ask, he's not one to brag. Nor will he ever make you feel like you should be thankful he's allowing you to learn from him. Couldn't be happier with my time with Coach Maskell & I'll be back for sure!

Since we have never been out here, she also came out to a station to show us how to use the wired as well as wireless clay throwers. I am so glad we came out to shoot that day! It was a chilly but sunny day. The course winds through some very pretty terrain including valleys and open fields. It is well maintained. All but one of the thrower switches were in good working order. I want to compare it to golf: you walk along a path and accomplish a goal at each station. Each station has random degrees of difficulty. There are two or three electronic throwers at each station. You can choose to throw one or two clay at a time...depending on your skill. I am a first timer...needless to say, I did not get lucky too many times. But hubby, who is not a first timer, LOVED the course and everything about it.
