Just like home What…read moreis a tourist from the US eating at a McDonald's in Spain? We were thirsty and we figured it was an easy in and out. Turned out it was not that easy after all. In the US they also have kiosks for ordering but not many customers use them, like me they head to the counter. In Europe, is seems ordering by kiosks is required, and that was the case at this McDonald's. Not that it was very difficult, but it did take the two of us a few minutes to muddle through. In addition to drinks I decided to get a Quarter Pounder with Cheese. It tasted just like home.

This is just a glimpse into how far behind I am with my reviews. I visited Barcelona at the…read morebeginning of this year. Actually, I was there in December and rang in 2023 there. Anyway ... Visiting other countries, when possible, I like to try chains to experience the regional items that aren't offered at home. So, one morning, my friend and I took a walk out towards the beach to the nicest McDonald's I've ever been to. And I've been to more than I can count all around the world. I know this is funny to hear considering I really don't eat fast food. So, now you know more about me. The location is right across the beach. It's so close you can see the sand and water. If the waves were crashing on the shore, you'd hear it too. There's both indoor and outdoor seating so you can enjoy the scenery if you like. And there's enough seating on two levels that you could be there and still feel like you're eating there alone. Not only was this the nicest and cleanest McDonald's I've ever been to, the service was top-notch. You can order on kiosks or in person. And I can't speak for every day, but the day my friend and I visited, there was an English speaking person there who made ordering for me a breeze. Even the staff who didn't speak English was friendly, helpful and patient. Food was made and served fresh and quick. Here's where I'd be telling you to go see my pics but I guess I didn't post them on Yelp. You'd have to go to my other social media site to find them. I feel the food was standard though it's hard for me to say because I don't eat McDonald's regularly enough to be able to give a fair comparison. I can say, it was good enough that I ate it all. And bonus, I didn't get sick. Now, we walked there so I didn't look for parking but I did see a drive thru. And as far as whether I'd go back, though it was a positive review, I have to say no because I've already been there and done that.

McDonald's in Spain offers a variety of different items that you can't get back in the States. We…read moremay have over-ordered but we had to try everything. We had three sandwiches: CBO Adult Happy Meal (€9.50), McExtreme Double Pulled Pork (€9.10), McExtreme Intense Cheddar (€7.10). For sides, we also ordered the Chicken Wings (€3.30), Chicken McBites (€1.80), Cheese & Bacon Fries (€3.55). But the coolest thing you can get here is BEER (€3.25)! I wasn't a fan of the CBO burger, but the McExtremes were good. I liked the sides more as they were small portions too, so great to try. Overall, the food is decent but getting a beer at McDonald's is definitely such a treat for those over 18.

I love McDonald's and I'm not ashamed to admit it. My girlfriend and I started a photo collection…read moreof us eating mcchickens in front of historical landmarks and sights, so when we found ourselves near the Sagrada Familia, we decided to give the Spanish version of McD's a try. Given its location, this one was super busy and honestly needed some TLC because it wasn't the cleanest inside. All the orders were done at a kiosk and this part took longer than expected because there's just so much to click through. We got our normal orders of double cheeseburgers and mcchickens (mcPollo in spain) plus fries. While the burgers and mcPollo tasted similar, the fries and sauces just wasn't as good as back home. It's also way more expensive here which was surprise. One thing to note is that they have a couple items that look like the Spanish version of the mcChicken, so if you want the closest one that's similar, gotta do the McPollo because their value version wasn't very good. Going to other countries and trying out McDonald's to see how it's different is fun but I can safely say there's nothing remarkable about Spain's. Glad we tried it for our own research purposes and glad we were able to add a new photo to our collection while we ate our mcPollo's right outside of one of the most famous landmarks in the world!

We had been to a food market on Les Rambles and had enjoyed great oysters at a few stalls, but we…read morewere saving ourselves for something different but didn't know what. The food market was uncomfortably packed with tourists and we contributed to this, it also had a mild sewage 3rd world whiff and at 34c it wasn't pleasant. The last time I got a pong like this was in Bangkok. I've no doubt we've also contributed to the fact that the price for food here has gone up noticeably, but not as exponentially as it will over the next few months if politicians aren't brave enough to cap energy price hikes amid obscene oil company profit scouring. Please don't hold any collective breath waiting on politicians of integrity. So we pulled out of the pongy crowded market and ambled the Rambles. Then the smell hit, pinched our noses and we were pleased. Garlic & chilli hit. And we just knew it was right on. So we followed our noses. We could see the wok master at his pyromaniac work from outside this small narrow place. A not enough room to swing a cat space. Mind you I can't think why anyone would want to treat a cat so. It was full of 20 and 30 somethings both those dining and those cooking. Intense gas heat, high flame, thin steel = little oil, rapid stir fry cooking of thin cut meats, vegetables and proper spice balance. Perfection. So the price is structured. I opted for thin noodles rather than rice, chicken as protein, cashew nuts for delicious texture, oyster mushrooms and beansprouts for taste and, of course, chilli spice. They add white onions, carrots and greens at no extra charge but I did say to go heavy on the fresh coriander at the end and they did. From start to paper carton it was a few brief minutes. €14.20 (£12.) and the serving was enough for two. 3 green stars. Wooden forks, spoons and paper tissues on site with narrow uncomfortable seating but great fresh cooked, hot tasty food. The oyster mushrooms and cashews sure pushed up the price but it was worth every cent particularly the cashews and honestly we didn't need the chicken. I noted that we passed many places offering all manner of paella - meat, fish, vegetarian but no smell not a whiff of garlic, frying onion so I avoid as I'm cynical enough to think it's pre frozen and microwaved food.
