I have worked with Laurie at Panowicz twice. 7 years ago, I brought her my mother's diamond in an old setting to transform into a beautiful, unique, diamond and sapphire wedding ring. Recently, I wanted to add a band of sapphires. It was challenging, because of the shape of the ring and the smallness of my fingers. I've been here a few different times and really appreciated the great customer service and the quality of their work. I frequented Panowicz quite a bit the months prior to my wedding getting family gifts and my rings ready for the big day. The store is a single roomed shop with a variety of jewelry designs, stones, and even some nice gold, silver, and jeweled gift boxes and such. The sales associates have all been very helpful and friendly with me each time I visited. I went in originally for their engraving service and was really pleased with the work each time I returned to have something new engraved. While I was there, they chatted with me about my engagement ring and even though it had been purchased in the Midwest offered to clean and polish it for me before the wedding. Now, a girl can't turn down freshly shined baubles for her big day, so my fiancé dropped it by the day before the wedding and said they were super friendly and helpful and had it done in just a few minutes. The prices for the engravings was competitive and the customer service excellent. Next time we are looking for a piece of fine jewelry or a nice gift we'll check here first. read more

22 years ago, I would take our daughter on my Saturday errands. We'd be downtown and I'd stop at Panowicz so she could look at all the shiny things. Rob Panowicz' dad was still alive and in the store then. He treated us like we were Bill Gates when it was obvious were a young family starting out with barely two coins to rub together. Could have easily given us the bum's rush. He'd always have a large gem in his pocket and take it out for my little girl to hold. I asked Rob once if the stone was expensive. He said "You don't want to know!" as my then 4 year old girl tossed it up and down. What a class man Mr. Panowicz was. And his store and family still are to this day. So first of all, let me say wow, amazing work they do here. I came in to get a new center stone set in my wife's original wedding ring. She had a pear cut with a halo, and they made the recommendation to lop the halo off and turn it into a pendant and then create new prongs to set the new emerald cut stone in there. They said that it should be ready by January 2nd, and low and behold they got it done TWO weeks EARLY. I'm beyond impressed. The craftsmanship is amazing, the pendant looks better than I could have imagined and the ring with the new emerald cut diamond is amazing as well. Wow. Wow. read more

The third time I brought my ring in to ask it to be fitted at the agreed size, I was told that this would be the last time they do it for "free". When I pay for something, my expectation is that it's done right the first time, not the third. Wow!!! That was a close call! I didn't realize how compromised my beautiful diamond heirloom ring had become until Sadie from Panowicz performed her magic on it. My precious ring includes diamonds from both my great grandmother (her name was ironically Sadie, too) as well as from my grandmother. My grandfather designed the ring and eventually my mom passed the ring down to me. While in Sadie's care for cleaning, thankfully she noticed that the tips that held the diamonds in place were loose and she was able to replace them and avert the possible disaster of the diamonds being lost. Now I feel safe in knowing that my ring is secure and it has never been so clean and sparkly. I really want to love this store. They are locally owed. They have a convenient location. And they sell the most beautiful items. Only 3 stars though. It comes down to below average customer service and the fact that their website doesn't reflect what they have in their store. This place is wonderful! Such a lovely atmosphere and all of the staff are very friendly and professional. My husband stumbled upon this place when he was looking for my engagement ring. Susan was amazing! I needed some engraving done on a watch and it was very last minute. I called and spoke with Susan and she told me to come in so we could take a look at it. I went into the store and met with her and she was extremely helpful, very kind and told me my watch would be done in two hours. I was very happy with the work that was done and the treatment that I got from her and the feel from the entire store. I will definitely bring my business back there again. Panowicz did some awesome work for me last year. Customized my anniversary band to match my vintage engagement ring, cleaned up and resized a few other pieces that were long neglected. The goldsmiths there are top-notch and I was very pleased with the work done. Pricing is you get what you pay for, 100%. So it will not be the cheapest, but it will be the best. This is such a nice place to shop for fine jewelry and gift items. They host events there a few times a year (sometimes with music and appetizers) and invite us to fill out wish lists if we want to. I always have so much fun trying everything on, and they really seem to enjoy showing the jewelry. Got a Mother's Day gift from here, LOVE IT!!! My husband and I have been here a couple of times to look around and see what they have. It's in a great location, across from the Farmer's Market and is a family owned business... What does that mean?!? They actually care what you think of them! The staff is friendly and willing to take their time to help you find what you are looking for! They give suggestions, answer all your questions (if they don't know the answer, they will find someone who does!), and actually let you TAKE YOUR TIME! Granted this time he was only buying a Pandora charm, but my husband said he never felt rushed or as if he was a customer "wasting their time". One of the owners even came over when she heard my husband's accent (he's from New Orleans, so he's a 6'4" loud county boy with a southern-Cajun accent, ha!) asked where he was from and told him if he had any questions about the area, where to go to eat, shop, even get my mani/pedi from she would be willing to offer the best places! All around great staff who are all attentive, friendly, and very knowledgable. Went in a few weeks ago to get a battery changed out and two bands changed on two watches. Both vintage with original straps (one stainless steel and the other leather). The watchmaker was unable to change the battery on the quartz. Both bands were changed. I got the stainless steel band back however the leather band (which was original with signed buckle and hang tag) was thrown in the trash. I was told this by the lady who was helping me. Sorry but I never left a note to trash the original bands and being these are vintage watches getting another is near impossible since this watch and band was unworn. I won't be doing business here again if this is how they treat others belongings. read more

Went into this jewelry store today for the first time with my fiance. While they had some nice pieces, the customer service was terrible, we couldn't have gotten a closer look at any of it. We were completely ignored. Not even a hello from any of the four salespeople working. There was plenty of opportunity to assist us, one woman was not working with anyone the whole time we were there and we walked right by her and no sense of friendliness or willingness to inquire if we wanted assistance. Needless to say we will not be returning to buy anything there. Too bad, because as new residents of Olympia we had heard wonderful things about this shop.
