But I had to recommend this place because of how good the food is. I've been traveling for three months in Europe now and I've not always been lucky with finding good food (even with useing yelp) Allium is a "slow cooking" restaurant and is in one of the top food books of places to visit in Barcelona. Their menu choice is small but the product is excellent. They use local produce and products and everything is made to order. The flavor in each dish I've had here is great and I don't get sick two hours after I leave. Please give the place a visit, it's worth your time, taste buds and money. If you're a tourist please take note that I've traveled Europe and this is one of the best places I've eaten at so far and I've eaten at a lot of places. After the meal we read that the restaurant changed concept from Peruvian Japanese (with nigiri and many hot dishes) to Mediterranean Japanese (mostly cold seafood dishes) a couple years ago. If you are expecting the dishes from their menu a couple years ago, none of them are there now. Of the 20 course menu, we only liked 5 (in blue check marks on the menu); the rest were bad because: 1 the way the food was prepared overpowered the flavor of the ingredient (example: scallop in wasabi-equivalent sauce that totally masked the delicate flavor for fresh scallop), or 2 ingredients that didn't taste good together (tuna belly with jamon lard??), or 3 the dish was creative but simply didn't taste good (roast tomato on charcoaled leaves). Also, for a 120 euro tasting menu, there was basically no premium ingredient except for one or two dishes. We were given the option to add premium dishes (lobster, king crab, wagyu) for another ~60 euro PER DISH, which is ridiculously expensive. We saw that some of the earlier menus posted had the premium ingredients included in the tasting menu, but that's also no longer the case. Service was very attentive and good, but other than that and the five dishes we liked, everything else was really really bad to be honest.

The experience of seeing the chefs diligently working right in front of you adds to the magic, and we truly appreciated being able to interact with them and ask questions freely. Similarly, the hospitality here is unbeatable and intimate. The team constantly ensures that guests are taken care of and the warmth of the staff feels genuine and sincere. To best take advantage of the service, I would highly recommend booking a bar seat rather than an outdoor table, as some of the uniqueness of the experience is lost if you sit far from the action. Do reserve early, as the bar seats only 8 guests. Despite how high end the experience feels, the meal costs 70 euros for 10 courses, which is a relative steal given the quality of the food and the service. Direkte stands out from the numerous, excellent dining experiences we had in Spain and ranks among the best meals my party and I have ever had.
