Extremely Disappointed…read more I brought my car to J&jAuto Repair in late July because of the positive reviews. Before J&j diagnosed my car, I specifically explained that other shops had already replaced the coils and spark plugs, but the same problem kept coming back after a month or two. Despite knowing this history, I paid approximately $180 for a diagnostic and was told I needed the coils and spark plugs replaced again, costing me about $700, i authorized the work and once again the car ran smooth right after this. About two months later, the exact same issue returned. I called them and was told to bring the car back but communication was very poor. I had to repeatedly call for updates and ultimately lost another day of work waiting for answers. I was eventually told the coils and spark plugs were fine and that my car needed a Honda software update. They gave me a Honda service bulletin and sent me to the dealership. I took another day off work, only to have Honda tell me that **the bulletin did not apply to my vehicle--it was for the 2.0L engine, while mine is the 1.5L--and my software was already up to date. After this experience, I am extremely disappointed with the diagnosis, communication, and service I received waisting my time my money and the frustration of them being a professional repair shop not knowing what's wrong with my car . I will be filing a complaint with BBB, and Bureau of Automotive repair (BAR). I wanted to share my experience so other customers can make an informed decision. i do not recommend this shop as they only put band aids on your car .

Not good in a sealed system. We took the car to Big O but they couldn't figure out what the issue might be. They suggested that we bring it by Brake & Wheel Center. Monte offered to look into it for $200, which would be subtracted from whatever the cost of repairs would be. After looking into it, he found a Service Bulletin issued by Honda. A Service Bulletin from Honda is not a Recall but notifies dealers that if the problem presents itself, Honda will pay for the repairs. We took the car to Honda who told us that it could cost us $200 for them in look into the problem but if the issue was as described on the Service Bulletin, then there would be charge. After they looked into it, Honda called me and stated that Brake & Wheel Center was correct and that Honda would pay to fix the air conditioning problem. We really wish that the mechanic that we had taken the CR-V to a couple years earlier would have found the Service Bulletin. Needless to say, we'll never go there again. This long-winded story was to let you know how we found Brake & Wheel Center. It had been recommended to us by Mario at Big O. Now that Mario is retired, we need someone dependable to take care of our routine maintenance needs. I went by and chatted with Monte. Told him what we needed, asked for a quote and when his shop would have time for us. All we needed was an oil & filter change with tire rotation. I made an appointment for 8am the following Wednesday. I dropped off the car at 8:15 and got a call from Monte at 10:31 telling me that the work was complete. I paid a little more than I would have at Big O (Big O tires are rotated for free) but the work was done quickly. What more could one ask for?

I like to hoard and squirrel away what I deem to be valuable vehicles. Others might see my precious collection as rusty old junk but I like it better than the new stuff with turbos and direct injection and CVT transmissions. It is hard to find a good, trusted mechanic. I had a few others over the years - TomA in San Leandro and and this other Sourkraut in Walnut creek who was a Mercedes diesel expert - but they both retired. Good mechanics have a few years under their belt. That comes with some experience - and that experience buys you a person who is more likely to notice subtle problems and who will move through an older fragile car with care. Old rusty bolts for example could snap or strip with anybody - but a person with experience will do all things possible to prevent it from happening. Over many years I've had some general maintenance done here, a complete a/c job, ignition work and more. Everything was done well and no problems after the fact. I think I even remember him telling me to let him know if something came up related to his work - so I know he stands behind it. If you love your car fix it. If you don't ask him for his opinion - is it worth fixing?! He will give an honest opinion. My opinion is if you are on a budget make your daily driver a car that can take a beating: maybe a toyota corolla or honda civic. With new cars so expensive doing large repairs on old cars might make sense for you. New cars aren't without their problems either...
