After quickly reading another review here on Yelp highlighting the uniqueness of this restaurant relative to the cookie-cutter corporate food options abound, I decided to detour off I-94 on my way back to Ann Arbor and pop into Pangea Global Kitchen. To say I was "overwhelmed" would be an understatement, as I was taken COMPLETELY off guard by Deanna who, upon my entering, offered to give me a personalized tour of the deli case and menu board as well as samples of some of the fan faves. Her enthusiasm and warmth came so naturally that I asked her "Is this your place?", to which she replied "Nope, I wish!" Turns out she was moonlighting to help out family, passionate about the food being created here, and just a born natural at putting people at ease with her kind and friendly personality. I ordered the Asian Chicken Soup, the Eggplant with Lamb and a side fattoush salad, and grabbed some meat grape leaves to go. The soup had strong Pho-vibes with distinct flavors of ginger and star anise and the eggplant was tender and juicy with an unctuous filling of lamb, tomatoes, and Middle Eastern spices. The salad was super fresh, crisp and balanced with an excellent homemade dressing. Rumor has it Pangea Global Kitchen is also big on catering as well, which may come in handy in the future. BOTTOM LINE: Whatever they're putting in the food at Pangea Global Kitchen, the World needs more of it. read more

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! They welcomed me in and gave me a tour of the deli case. I was given a warm sample of the lasagna and invited to try a pita chip and grape leaf from the trays on the counter. I ordered the Butter Chicken dinner, some garlic sauce, a bag of their house made pita chips, and I couldn't resist a Dubai chocolate chip cookie. I enjoyed everything and have plenty for lunch tomorrow. Their Teacher Appreciation Week promotion brought me in, but I will definitely be back! read more

Wow wow wow! From the moment we stepped in til the moment we left our experience at Pangea Global Kitchen was a 20/10! First and foremost the gentleman with locs who was working had by far the best customer service I have ever experienced. You can tell he takes such pride in Pangea and the food that they make. Immediately we were greeted so warmly and kindly and were offered free samples of their lasagna and falafel. The falafel was a 10/10 and my husband (who ONLY likes my mom's lasagna) was immediately in love with their lasagna. That is the only lasagna outside of my mom's that he has ever liked. In fact- his face lit up he LOVED it! He ordered a chicken shawarma and I ordered their falafel wrap. My falafel wrap was FULL and so was his chicken shawarma. They are so generous with their portions! My husband gave the chicken shawarma a 9/10 and I give my falafel wrap a 10/10. So so good. We also got a tub of their garlic sauce and it was by far the best garlic sauce I've ever had in my life. It's genuinely so good. It's got the perfect amount of sharpness from the garlic while remaining balanced in other flavor with the perfect consistency. We were so full when we were finished eating.... But my husband just couldn't stop thinking about their lasagna. So we left for a couple of hours and ran some errands and talked about the lasagna the entire time we were gone. We decided we couldn't wait so we made our way back to Pangea and ordered 2 lasagnas to go home with! They came with a beautiful salad as well. I have to say the portion size of the lasagna is unbelievable. It is SOOOO generous!!! A huge huge huge slice of lasagna is what they give you. Anyone reading this review- please please please go to Pangea Global Kitchen the next time you're in the area. Was good but missing pickles which is a necessity for this in my opinion. Tomato Kibee was ok. Lacked chunky tomato which i feel it truly needed for flavor. I think i speak for everyone when I say that I am absolutely sick and tired of corporate/chain restaurants that have zero personality. Places where the atmosphere is bland, everything is glass and stainless steel and you have to interact with a computer screen because corporations would rather force their customers to work as an unpaid cashier because customer service is no longer a core value. I am also tired of getting garbage products for maximum money. The word "Value" has literally been lost. How refreshing it was to walk into a place that felt friendly and home-like. A family run restaurant where they greet you at the door. A place where they offer samples of all their food, and can't wait to see you try it. FINALLY....Some incredible food for reasonable prices. The chicken shawarma is perfectly seasoned and tender, and their garlic sauce is addictive--I always ask for extra. The falafel comes out crispy on the outside and fluffy inside every single time. As the Pangea name suggests, you'll find this store combines superb middle eastern cuisine paired with global favorites. It's friendly staff, free samples and reasonable pricing make this a great addition to the local scene for either a quick meal or take out. The flavors of everything we had were outstanding. Fresh Tabouli Salad, as good as we've had in the ME, went great with the Lamb Eggplant Lamb Boat. The Majidra paired with the cucumber sauce is outstanding, and along with the Orzo salad is a wonderful meal in itself. We also loved the Sicilian Lasagna with bechamel sauce which came with a tasty lemon side salad salad, both of which were delicious. Even their falafel bites popped with flavor. While there are several other Mediterranean restaurants in Detroit along Mack or in the Pointes that we've liked, the freshness and combination of flavors and spices found here have quickly made this our top choice now. Bought several items and they are top-notch top quality flavorful deliciousness Potato salad out of this world I don't know the name of it, but it was the lentil with rice and fried onions and your drizzle their version of tzatziki.
