This has been the only place I've eaten at in the last few weeks where I've thoroughly enjoyed the food. I was looking for some place new for lunch and stumbled upon this place. I ended up ordering curry chicken which was so good and very flavorful. They made it fresh so it was popping hot when I received it. It was about a 15 minutes wait for my food and it was so worth it. They have reasonable prices and I got just enough food to fill me up for lunch. I want to come back and check out more menu items. They have a lot to choose from and I'll be back soon. FYI, they have the fruit shaped ice cream that went viral online last year.

Excellent Indian restaurant with nice fish curries, naan (which they have in cheese & garlic), mango lassi, ice cream desserts and assorted beverages. Service is exceptional and prompt (they even bring the food out to you). Interior environment also very cool with an awesome mural of Bollywood movies and another one with a cool art design. Highly recommended and check it out in downtown Detroit!

as the only Indian spot downtown, this is definitely a go to for me. I had their butter, chicken, their lamb vindaloo, and obviously their biryani. they let you pick the spice level, but are very true to what the spice is. So definitely don't be afraid to go for a little spice which definitely enhances the flavor of the dish. I thought everything was quite great, they were really fast with it, and there are some tables inside to sit at and enjoy. I thought the biryani was definitely their best dish, with a lot of added flavors, very tender chicken and the sauce that they give you to put on top definitely do that because it helps with a bit of the dryness of the dish.

Absolutely fantastic. The food was amazing. The service was wonderful. Majeed treated us very well. Very kind. The food was speedy and hot as can be. Would recommend!

Solid Indian food. Smells amazing, everything just needed a bit of salt, which is easily fixed, and better than being too salty. We ordered samosas, the Tandoori mixed grill with garlic cheese naan and lamb vidaloo. The samosas were quite good and the sauces that go with are yummy - one sweet red sauce and one savory green cilantro sauce. I really liked the green one and dipped my naan in it too. Fried well, seasoned inside, and not greasy. The garlic cheese naan was perfect - cheesy, herby, charred, soft and chewy. Highly recommend. The lamb vindaloo was saucy and smelled so good; lots of tender savory lamb, and it comes with a side of white rice, perfectly cooked and fresh. The medium spice level was definitely spicy, but not too much. I really enjoyed the Tandoori mixed grill, especially the sausage-like pieces and shrimp. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and had this delicious char on them. Yum. The chicken was tender and moist with that signature bright red color. And there was definitely enough meat to eat for 2 meals, maybe 3 for me. And for $18 downtown, that's a good price. A nice man who appeared to maybe be the owner was chatting with a table of folks when we walked in; we were greeted right away and our food was ready right on time, as we ordered ahead online. They didn't miss anything in our order - it was perfect, hot and fresh. I will say this: their menu is huge, and I've seen some hit or miss reviews. Maybe stick with the basics the first time you go - butter chicken, chicken tikka, biryani, tandoori, etc. Or maybe try one of the dishes that are prepared and waiting, as those are probably the most popular and made most often. I love that they have ready-to-go options for people who don't have a lot of time to grab lunch. As a suggestion for this small downtown location, they may want to consider shortening the menu. I did find it interesting that they had so many goat dishes, and one of the most glowing reviews was about their goat. Since I've never really tried it, maybe I will be adventurous next time. All in all, fair prices downtown with decent portion sizes and excellent samosas, naan and shrimp. We will definitely come back again.

The food was AMAZING!!!!!! The staff were super nice and informative. Will be back again for sure. The owner is really helpful and knowledgeable. He does a great job of explaining planning things so if you haven't had Indian food before it's easy to order here.

62. Chicken Tikka Biryani

The first thing I'll say is that I will come back and give Charminar Biryani House a second chance. The restaurant is very small, and they do have a few tables to dine in. Since there wasn't a lot of space, I opted to take my food back to the office. I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong thing. The flavors of the biryani were traditional, but I don't like that it seems they have hidden all the dry chicken under the rice. There were even pieces I spit out due to it having a warmed-over flavor and being so dry. I am thinking next time I will just try the tikka masala or butter chicken.

They charge $1 more on some items compared to their menu online

This is not a bad place to come for a meal. The buffet is average. The workers are friendly.

The truth is, I don't want to share. I will hoard my precious bowls of butter chicken and forget all decorum. There is something beguiling about this sauce... and yes, I realize I'm talking about food. But you have to try this dish to understand my devotion. It is about more than the flavor which is incredibly layered, but it's so silky and rich that I could probably drink it by the cupful. Yes, I'm talking about food, don't look at me! Let me just eat in peace, with a giant spoon and a bib. I will even use a veil to hide my shame. The service is always friendly and lovely, and I think they might be a little worried when the tall white lady comes in all wild eyed and hungry. The ambiance is fine, as far as I know, my singular mission is to obtain the butter chicken, I am not sure if they have tables and chairs. The menu looks incredible, with recipes that are probably just as delicious as the butter chicken. But here is my problem... if I try another dish that is just as good as the BC, then what do I do?! I will be back here with another confession even more delicious.

Disappointing Lunch Buffet Experience - October 14, 2026…read more I visited this restaurant today, October 14, around 1:00 PM, and was very disappointed with the quality of the lunch buffet. The food was cold and did not seem fresh. The chicken consisted mostly of bones with very little meat, and another tray contained only curry without any chicken. The overall food quality was far below my expectations. Customer service was also disappointing. Nobody greeted me when I arrived, and there was no staff member available to provide good customer service during my visit. While I was getting my food, I noticed three other customers take a look and leave without eating. Unfortunately, I had already taken my food and was hungry, so I decided to stay and have my lunch. When I finally complained to the staff, I was told that they would not refill the buffet because the restaurant was closing at 2:00 PM. I understand that the restaurant was approaching closing time, but if the buffet cannot be properly maintained, why continue offering it? In my opinion, it would be better to stop serving the buffet earlier rather than disappoint customers who arrive during the advertised lunch hours. I have visited this restaurant with my family several times for dinner, and our experiences were excellent. That is why this lunch experience was especially disappointing. My advice to other customers: Be cautious about visiting during the lunch buffet hours, particularly close to 1:00 PM. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves the food quality, freshness, temperature, and customer service for lunch guests.

Keep seeing lots of folks picking up orders and double parking their cars in the driveway to come in and pick up their carry out orders. Ordered starter Gobi Manchurian, veggie samosa, 2 dal soup, Chana masala, Tarka daal, mushroom bhaji and tandoori chicken. $94.24 They gave us the crunchy thin Papadum. Be careful while eating that the seasoning on top doesn't flip up into your eyes, it did that to my husband. He flicked off the seasoning so it wouldn't do it again. The Papadum is good. There was a random empty water bottle at the table. Table top is peeling, needs a refinish. I would put the fly strip in a more discrete spot and not hang it in the vestibule behind the counter. The samosas are good, dough is nice and light, like a wonton and it's packed with potatoes, peas and corn, which is a bit odd. It's better with some chutney. The Gobi Manchurian tastes good, just not crispy at all. The lentil soup is scalding, it's good. I like the roasted garlic in the soup and added some lemon to it as well. The Chana masala is okay, they put potatoes in it as filler instead of more chick peas. Other than the potatoes, it's good. The butter chicken is rather sweet, it's still pretty good. I am glad the chicken chunks aren't too big in this dish. Not a fan when it seems like the pieces are half a breast of chicken. Mushrooms aren't too bad. Not special. The lentils are good. Their garlic naan tastes sweet, almost, it's decent. The tandoori chicken is good.
