My wife and I wanted something different for lunch so we chose Panera Bread in Wausau. The counter person took 12 minutes to finally get to order right, despite my wife re-explaining 4 times. Then got overcharged anyway. We went to sit down and there were crumbs and food on most of the tables and on the floor. I took pictures but couldn't attach them to the review. The food was edible but nothing to brag about. I've had hospital food that tasted better. We were not impressed at all. read more

Ordered 2 sandwiches & I kid you not they had 2 tablespoon size portion of meat on them. So bare it was laughable. So I called the manager, I think her name was Teresa. The only reason I'm rating this at three is because the food that my husband and daughter did get wasn't horrible! Actually, my husband was thrilled with his cheesesteak ciabatta and a French onion soup! The price I paid for my daughter's mac & cheese and bread bowl was ridiculous and hardly considered a meal! It was like I don't even know if it was a cup of mac & cheese and a dried out bread bowl! And and as I stated before under the pictures, there was maybe a cup of greens in the salad they sent me go look at how much the salad ! My sandwich was supposed to have red peppers...received a few "skins" of red peppers and what appeared to be lab grown chicken or at the very least...overly processed chicken. Puke. I've been inside and just seemed like they had an attitude, like I'm an inconvenience for ordering food, a few times I've asked how they were doing and never responded, the drive thru lady was taking my order all mad and I had placed an order and before I could finish said the total and cut me off, I said forget and drove away. Sad that Panera bread has gone so far down hill!!!! I had the Cream of Chicken and Wild Rice soup. It didn't taste right! Didn't even eat 1/2 of it. There was very little chicken and very little wild rice. It's supposed to be a cream soup and the consistency was more broth like. And it was mildly warm. Absolutely disgusting! Probably old. The bread served with it was so tiny. The service was meh...... The ambiance was meh.... There was a homeless guy camping out as you walk in. Not a good look for the place. I'm a big fan of Panera Bread for their selection and healthy options. I went through the drive through at lunch time. The server was nice but seemed rushed but there were only 2 cars behind me. I got the pick 2 option but wasn't offered a choice of bread, apple or chips so I thought it was strange. When I drove up to pick up my food, only a piece of baguette was included which wasn't what I wanted. Otherwise, the butternut squash soup was piping hot and the sandwich was very tasty. All of your sandwiches are made with bare minimum ingredients & today, you managed to botch the last remaining good thing on your menu, the French Onion Soup. I went during lunch time and the service was incredibly slow. I ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup. In the entire soup, I had ONE noodle with no veggies or chicken. The price is ridiculous for a bowl of soup to get nothing but broth. The soup should be called "chicken broth" instead. read more

I orderer delivery and it was DoorDash who was the service. They were terrible (doordash). Customer rep didnt help and just ended the conversation. I called Panera because I was still without a refund or food. Panera service was A+. They contacted doordash for me. Made me a new order and got it delivered. The sandwich was amazing. read more

When they opened many years ago this location was great. Everything was clean and food was fresh. Things have steadily declined from there. I went there last week and the lettuce was brown and the overall cleanliness was horrible. My pickup order was over 10 minutes late also. Such a shame that a relatively healthy chain can't keep a clean kitchen. read more

The bread bowl that my girlfriend had ordered wasn't that great. But I do like going there, but we ordered though DoorDash.

It looks like this is a newer location for Panera - we stopped on our trip back from Hayward for a quick lunch. Pretty much, it's about the same as most Paneras. The food is decent, they post calories (appreciate that) and the prices aren't bad. This location does seem cleaner and more well kept than the ones in Milwaukee and the employees are certainly nicer! It's a good stop for a quick bite and if you are really in a hurry there's now an app that allows you to order online, prepay and they'll have it waiting for you on racks just inside the doors. Does this location get THAT busy? I don't know if I'd want my food hanging out for an undetermined amount of time but perhaps others are just that busy that they can't wait 3 minutes in line? If you're really, really lazy they also have a drive thru. As with all Paneras, lunch here often comes with a side of free entertainment. I really enjoyed listening to two older ladies completely trash one of their friends ending with "and she brought cupcakes...can you IMAGINE?" Damn girls, why you hatin' on cupcakes? read more

It's a standard Panera. Soups and sandwiches and baked goods. Coffee and smoothies too. Odd layout compared to others I've been to. Free WIFI (which oddly the Yelp app on my iphone wouldn't let me log in when I was connected to the WIFI. When I turned off the WIFI it worked fine). Brand new (Opened 8/1/13). Best Mac and cheese in the area. Due to COVID I normally use DoorDash to get Panera. Food always comes hot and well prepared. We have issues lately though of missing items (mostly drinks) when ordering. Drinks are good, I've had better coffee, but I've also had worse. Definitely one of my go to places for a meal. read more

I have used their curbside pick-up via placing my order at home before leaving to go to Wausau. We love their food but . . . This is now the THIRD Time I have no gotten my FULL order. Twice I called and manager gave me a refund but the hassle to get it. . .!! Now today took our Kindle along so we could use their "I'm Here" app and could not get into their WiFi. So called & was told to use their app! If I could have I WOULD HAVE! The woman was nasty---I am the customer for pete's sake! And low and behold, our baguettes were not included in our pickup. Normally, I enjoy Panera. So take this review with a grain of salt. I can look past the high prices since the lattes are literally a half teaspoon of sugar away from cocaine but they have crossed a line this time. So I order my food- caramel latte, cup of French onion, and a half sandwich ala chipotle chicken avocado whatever. I thought, yes, this lunch is going to be lit. However, I didn't realize I had to specify on whether or not I preferred my avocados with or without the skin. The crunchy texture was enough of a turn off but little did I know that avocado skins also taste a lot like crushed up vitimans- not the good chewy fruity kind. So, next time you order, be sure to make sure you make your palette's preferences clear. read more

Driving home from Rice Lake, hunger reared its ugly head. We learned our lesson on the way to Rice Lake by stopping at a Kwik Trip; and only finding water and peanuts to eat (so much stuff, so little food). The Panera was a welcomed oasis of decent food. We had sandwiches, soup, tea and coffee, and a Danish. The gal who took our order was very pleasant and effective. We made some modifications to our order that she handled in stride. Our food was really good, made with good ingredients, and very satisfying. We have stopped at Paneras on many occasions. The food is consistently good. Always a good stop for a couple of ovo-lacto vegetarians who are picky about what they put into their bodies. When traveling it is always great to find a Panera. There are times when I don't want "fine food" at a fancy restaurant and there are times when I don't have a hankering for junk food. What I miss most sometimes about big cities is a good deli or similar. Something that is a step above Subway or Jimmy John's. So it was once of those days recently and decided to try out the new Panera Bread in Wausau. I was pleased to see that they have Cuban Paninis on the menu. There is one place that I know of in Wausau that has an excellent one so I decided to try Panera's. I'm glad I did because it was very good but not excellent. In all fairness I should mention that Panera's has chicken and the other place has ham and other ingredients. Panera's focaccia is very good. I was intrigued by the idea of a Mango Smoothie. I decided to try one: excellent! I sampled my wife's Greek sandwich and her corn chowder: very good. Our bill was $24.22; true that it is pricey but our meals were pleasing to the palate. Tried Panera for the first time and it was pretty good. I didn't try many things but I had the Grilled Cheese and Ham sandwich with a Strawberry Smoothie. The Grilled Cheese and Ham sandwich was about as good as a grilled cheese and ham sandwich gets. I did enjoy the bread, not sure what type but it was good. I'm not much of a bread person and it's very hard to get me to eat bread but this was quite good. As for the Strawberry Smoothie.... well it was okay. I've had smoothies elsewhere before and I can't say that this was the best but if you're craving for one, it can satisfy the cravings. The building and location is great, not hard to find. The outside seating looked very quaint and cute. The inside looks nice but can be confusing when you've never been to a Panera before. We walked in during lunch time and was just immediately confused on where the line actually began. Once we ordered we were also confused on where we should be going to pick up our food, it took me looking around at the ceiling to figure out where to go. Having never heard of this place until it came here, I decided to give it a shot. The food tasted great. I had a big boy grilled cheese and an oatmeal cookie. The problem is the price... $7 for a grilled cheese sandwich and a small bag of chips? That's just ridiculous. I assumed it would be huge for that price, but it wasn't much bigger than a regular grilled cheese using 2 slices of white bread. The small (apparently "medium" soda to them) wasn't even included in that price. It was an extra$1.79. No big deal one would think just replace the cup with a bowl, I would gladly pay the difference. Both times workers were all but friendly, making me feel like I was asking for the world when wanting it corrected. Ordered a to-go order this afternoon during an off-peak time. Did NOT use the Kiosk or order online...just did it the old-fashioned way. After waiting 25 minutes, and watching a dozen other customers get their order, I went and asked about my order. I was told they must have given it to someone else. Hello?? They offered to make my order then, but offered no apology WHATSOEVER....In fact, I was told this happens sometimes when people order online...
