Made an order for 24 people the day before, the staff was great to work with, timely, and got everything right and was very good. I was very pleased with the execution of this large scale order and would absolutely return. Was hesitant with their rating, but I'm glad we went with them. read more

No frills joint with an eclectic menu and a staff willing to take mad leaps of creativity to produce the perfect meal. Prices are more than reasonable and the joint is kept clean by dozen of little keeper bees that flit from table to table. Sit by the window and watch the world, or against the wall and watch each other. Either way it's an interesting experience. read more

So irritating when the server acts like they do you a favor when they're ripping you off. They stole $6 from us through sheer incompetence by leaving out 2 cookies from our order. Outside smells like sewage. Inside the restaurant smelled like they burnt something badly. The smell was nauseating. Order was slow to come out. Waited almost 30 min to get a sandwich, salad, a disappointing $11 mac n cheese, and none of the cookies we wanted. My Apple Fuji chicken salad had mixed greens and ICEBURG LETTUCE. The chicken is not grilled but tastes like it came from a can. Cold and salty. Sad. read more

I asked for no arugula in my salad or panini. Not only did I get extra arugula on both, but I also picked it up on time, and the bread on my panini was soggy and disgusting. It was so gross that I wouldn't eat it. I don't really write reviews but I wasted so much money on a dinner that I was looking forward to after a long day at work. read more

Panera Bread - Arugula that I asked to not have. - Sandwiches Near Me - South Portland, Maine

The worst Panera Bread that we ever visited. Service was lousy, they messed up the order, etc. Will never go back there and quite possibly no other one either, Panera is not what it used to be. read more

You really can't go wrong with Panera. There are plenty of choices, the food is fresh and with online ordering it is simple to grab and go. This location is tucked away in a tired shopping center and if not for Yelp I wouldn't have stumbled across it. read more

Place is so clean and staff are nice and fast. In no time the delicious soup was ready. I went there in a business trip and after we left i needed some assistance toward the transaction. Had to come drop a 4-star review for the Panera lobster roll, served on a soft bun with fresh green and red leaf lettuce and a pickle side. Wow pleasant surprise! They just started serving them about a week ago (it's Memorial Day weekend) and as a native Mainer I have been craving one since the weather turned warm. But prices are through the roof at $30 pretty much everywhere! Panera's was made fresh and coming in at $22 did not break the bank. I even went back to the counter to ask a) is the lobster from Maine (yes) and b) is it fresh or frozen? (fresh) Overall highly recommend, you just might need to add some salt pepper and Tabasco as I did. The only reason I knocked off a star is because I don't like ordering at a kiosk but for everything else you're good to go! read more

oops they did it again. got wrong order delivered again!!!!! Second time in 2 weeks. Customer service not much better.

Stopped in for a late dinner after my daughter's practice - chipotle avocado chicken sandwich & broccoli soup. The soup was the basic pre-made broccoli soup available at every Panera. The sandwich was "ok", nothing special and it was kind of dry. But it was a quick meal and we were in and out. Cozy spot by the fire and the tea options were great! Best fast food option out these vs your typical burger joints read more

I ordered 24 sandwiches at 11:30. I was told to pick it up at 12:15. I waited at the counter for OVER AN HOUR. This place is understaffed.

I wish I had something good to say, but unfortunately I do not. The dining room was filthy. The floor had food all over it and only one clean table. The dirty dishes piled up at the trash drop off area. The food was not worth the $35 I paid out. The toasted cheese sandwich was just a block of unmelted cheese. The mac and cheese was ice cold and tasted like the frozen stuff we got in school. The food is supposed to be freshly made, but you could tell it was processed frozen food. My veggie sandwich was ok, but the bread was very chewy. We will stick with the Westbrook Panera from now on. I think I deserve a full refund. read more

Panera's is one of our go to's for weekday breakfast. The soufflé is light and delicious. A great assortment of iced teas. While they seem to be short on staff now, the staff is always friendly and the tables are always clean. read more

This Panera has a friendly counter staff and lots of comfortable seating. The drink machines are also kept super clean, which I really notice and appreciate! I also want to give Panera some love for offering so many healthy options in addition to baked goods. It is possible to get a salad and tasty soup, and move on with your day feeling like you've eaten something far better for you than the usual fast food experience. My quibble with Panera is their price point. I have stopped in for a soup, salad and bev and ended up at the register forking over anywhere between $16-18 bucks, NOT a lunch deal in any way. Some might say, that healthier options cost more, and I understand that. On the other hand, many local places offer lunch options that are equally healthy, for less. read more

Went there for Sunday brunch at around 1130 but they were only serving lunch items. All of the cream pitchers were empty and we had to take them into the kitchen ourselves to get them refilled and still not brought back out for 15 minutes. The hazelnut coffee was also empty which I told the guy as soon as I walked in and it was not replaced for a full half an hour. All of the tables and chairs were filthy. There was a bus boy on duty but he for whatever reason was just standing around, doing nothing. The sandwich I ended up ordering had almost no chicken inside, two thick pieces of bread, almost tasteless. Reading all the reviews, I was not sure if I should get a tetanus shot or run for the hills; however, figured I would give this place a go. After realizing this is a Panera and not Hugo's, Miyake, or some other high end restaurant in Maine, I was able to put aside any high expectations and evaluate the restaurant for what it is: a fast food restaurant. This Panera is the same as all others. Was it the best Panera I have ever been to, no; however, it as also not the worst. If you are looking for a Panera and what that chain has to offer, then this place is pretty much the same as others. read more

I'm annoyed that I had to build my sons peanut butter and jelly. The last said, "we don't handle allergens." Then why do you sell them? I'm paying for a premade sandwich, not to make my own sandwich. Then they forgot the yogurt that came with it. I order a bacon, egg and cheese brioche sandwich. I think they put an excessive amount of pepper on it. They also ran out of brioche rolls. One of my pregnancy go-to's has just happened to be a bread bowl-and I'm not sure where I would get one besides Panera. I usually just do the combo, which comes with a side. The soups have really been a hit or miss for me. Sometimes their loaded with veggies and proteins, there's been other times where I could only find one piece of chicken in my entire chicken noodle soup. I also feel as if the portions are just not there. I shouldn't be able to eat my entire order of soup that I paid $10 for in five gulps. Luckily with the bread bowl I'm full, but it's just a little too underwhelming for me-however I keep coming back. Staff at this location has always been friendly-and boy do they get busy during lunchtime. I wouldn't go there unless you have a solid hour, or order ahead. read more

I am ok with any of the Panera franchises to be quite honest and their healthier fares and the feeling of something that is fresher and better for you alternative. Most of the Paneras that I have visited have been quick moving and great experiences in general but this location is a tougher one for a few reasons: - It is busy 24/7 365 and does not stop and ever have any times where you might just want to stop in and have some lunch and prop open a laptop to get some quiet time. This does not happen here because the tables are usually completely filled and the buzz in the restaurant can be deafening when one is trying to concentrate. - The parking lot is a close second, if not first, compared to Trader Joes on Marginal way where it is literally like a game of hungry hungry hippos trying to fight your way into a spot that might be opening. They really need to do something about this because there have been various times that I know people will avoid it like the plague for that reason BUT obviously it is not having any effect on the traffic coming into the store so I guess .. Why fix something that is working? - The last two times that we have been in this location our orders were mixed up or things were missing from the order and quite honestly I think it is because of the sheer volume of orders that are flying around there like a pack of bats. It might be to busy to keep up with so the customer service takes a hit sometimes. The goods are as expected, the food is usually clean and fresh and the staff is usually very friendly but remember if you are in a hurry ... Do not come here because you will be waiting. read more

Great place to get some hearty soup and a sandwich. I'd recommend going wild and ordering French Onion soup & the best darn sandwich they make...the Turkey Bacon Bravo. A lemonade tops this off. :) Try the sandwich. No regrets. They're open late (until 10 or so) it helps to go any time but 12-1. Avoid it at all costs during that time. The very unpleasant non trained register employee initially really rubbed me the wrong way. Not a break of a smile, not a how're you, not even a hello. My boyfriend approached her with "excuse me ma'am" and she quickly snapped back with "hold on" when it was our time to order I approached the counter. I ordered and she then told me she wasn't able to do what I wanted. The lovely food preparer accommodated my simple (cooking the egg longer) request and told me to have a great day. (Be like him). Sat down with my smoothie and by my surprise she got my name wrong too. Smoothie state: ***Katie*** 09:56 am .. let's remember folks. Panera is Panera is Panera, right? It's one of those extremely consistent chains where - regardless where you are in the world - Panera is always a safe bet. The quality of the baked goods seems to have changed over the years, though. For example: - It doesn't seem like Panera makes their infamous Cobblestone muffins anymore... which is a darn shame. They were one of my favorite guilty food pleasures. It was a dense muffin with raisins and apples and cinnamon and icing... and it fell apart like monkey bread and was divine with a cup of coffee. Happy sigh. The last couple times I've been here, though, I haven't seen them. Am I coming at the wrong time? I don't know, but it makes my inner chubby kid sad (I totally was one, by the way, so I can say this). - What's going on with the bagels?! The asiago bagel used to be much cheesier and denser. The one I recently ate was basically a round of flavorless dough. It tasted like classic white bread and I regretted ordering it the moment I saw it on the plate. I spent the duration of my time eating it wondering how many miles I would need to run to counteract this poor decision. Just thinking about it now is making me wonder if I should run an extra one for good measure. Also, the locale in South Portland has a couple quirks that are worth noting: 1. It is never not busy, so be prepared to wait regardless of when you come. Segue... 2. The parking lot is a nightmare. Not only is it designed weirdly, there are not enough spots for what's going on in this strip mall. I usually have to circle around at least two or three times before something opens up. I do, however, want to note that the staff here has always been quite nice. They know how to efficiently move through the lengthy lines, are patient with questions, and are pretty approachable, normal people. I dig that. I also appreciate that they're cool with people just hanging out here with a good book or for a lengthy meeting. I never feel rushed or like I'm taking up space (I would like to take up more space though, Panera, so please bring back the Cobblestone muffins). read more
